DH keeps commenting on how he hasn't read the thread. This is annoying. I do agree that calling someone a pussy or a coward isn't the same as calling them mafia. That being said, I think JaggedJimmyJay is anything but that.

I'm not liking the JJJ + DH interactions? It reads as both townies, but being really distracting. I'm mostly just annoyed about that, but it doesn't read as scummy from either party.

I'm not liking this "only person I have a negative read on" bit from spirityo but I'm still not a fan of mac. There's a lot to pick at in this thread. MP's willingness to throw "town" at people, DH's unwillingness to read the thread etc. Anyways, the end of spirityo's post is a bit yelly but he makes a point against Mac that I agree with. I still want to do my own iso because ~bad vibes~

hi, i'm here for a minute (might be the rest of tonight until 11ish central time, but i may be being pulled away by IRL before then)

i'm reading through some of the earlier alien stuff again and found this interaction with robot, and i'm thinking it paints two possible universes; one of a robot partner & one of a sprityo partner (and i wanna springboard for the sprityo argument)

robot partner: alien took the time to read through robot's post and decided to toss a somewhat easy question their way so that both of them appear to be solving

sprityo partner: alien saw someone criticizing an aspect of sprityo's play and decided to try to pick it apart somewhat (or, in a luckier scenario, both of these things are true). i wanna point this out bc i keep mentally returning to sprityo posts & interactions that he's had with alien. on D1, i was digging at alien because of his attempts to discredit Lunalee wrt Turnip Head, but the way alien engaged Lunalee on sprityo may actually be a bit more compelling/teammate-compatible. there's a specific post that's giving me a hard time:

Hi RobotNerd, thanks for the prompt. I have trouble finding where I should give input in games like this with a lot of experienced players weighing in.

This looks like the post that started it all: A very innocent comment by sprityo about Mac not being actually green on MP's read list.
Here's why MacDougall dislikes sprityo:
Sprityo has avoided heat in ways he probably shouldn't have I want to see examples of this, because I don't see it in sprit's ISO.
sprityo responds to Mac's suspicions by saying "it was a joke" and "I'm bad at mafia"

Then there's Sprit's blow-up post and Mac's reaction to it. At first glance, it honestly looks like two civvs who don't understand each other.

But I can't help but notice how sprityo is reacting to this whole thing. He swings an attack, then immediately backs down, as if hoping to shut it down before Mac can swing back:

Mac's response to this is steady and forceful. He does not back down. This seems like a more common townie trait. If I had to pick a scum between Mac and Sprityo, I would choose Sprityo.

His backdown #2 wasn't him going back on his reads though, it was him wanting to move on from stating his case because it was taxing argueing

This also feels a bit like a forced read to me, it feels like you're struggling for what to say, so you're just trying to find something you could say is suspicious, because I don't think your quotes match into your argument very well so it reads as if you made the case first and then tried to fit things into it as opposed to working bottom-up and seeing it first and then making the case

alien's defense of Turnip Head can be more easily read as TMI-y than the defense of sprityo here, because alien is posting about sprityo's motivations/desires here in a way that he may not be fully comfortable doing as mafia. alien's ISO is full of qualifying statements about people's play, which is not in itself bad & characterizes a lot of people's play, so this is sort of jarring. continues that general trend here. alien is saying what sprityo did, not what he Could Have Been Doing.

i was moving away from sprityo as a partner but i think i'm heading back that way as a possibility (maybe even if robot flips mafia but i need to go through their interactions there as well). think i'm gonna make another reads list to try to sort some of these thoughts instead of just vomiting them into the thread at random (disclaimer: might not have enough time to make it cute and colorful)

if alien was just TMIing town in both TH and sprityo i'll laugh but the handling is different for sprityo, too.

(p.s. sorry for my part in inactivity/thread complacency today; i had some Stuff interfering w/ my presence for a bit but i'm going to try to put more effort into solving this game when i have time)

The gist of it was this:

I agree with the case. Robot was my 2nd highest suspect after Alien, and that was before the flip and before JJJ's sleuthing on the interactions.

Some things I'm worried about:
1) No palpable resistance to the lynch, unlike yesterday.
2) TH's weird, non-case-related defense. Reads non-baddie-baddie to me because it was too late to save her, so it's just....weird.
3) 4 or so of us have descended into complete memery, which makes the game harder to read for me.

So again, I'm convinced but I have misgivings about the way this has gone. Will be looking at everyone, not just consensus "top suspects", going into N2.

That’s some nice stuff you got there. My feelings are basically rounding back to I think he looked scummy against Mac, I think he is teammate compatible with Alien, and I think his treatment of me recently sounds like he wants to keep me in play as a suspect without actually being able to say why.

infected alien: I like their thing with Mac, I dont agree with it, but I like that it exists. I think when people walk into a new environment and make a big accusation based on borderline tinfoil telescopes, it's a brave thing, they don't know how that player will reacts or if they'll get lambasted. a civ is more likely to take that risk than mafia imo. they did a similar but sort of opposite thing later with defending dh against some of Jay's points, that confidence is a little more confusing...? people who've played with infected alien before, how would you characterize his gameplay? I think in general I like that they're not afraid to be contrary. but I'm also finding myself disagreeing with a lot of their thoughts, and in general i don't trust anyone who townreads me early without knowing me beforehand. so... idk. there's a lot here

This is extracted from Kyle's early reads list, and it demands a little color coding. This covers more ground than I'd like. Not Kyle's best moment.

It covers a lot of ground because it... covered a lot of ground. I went through and commented on everything I saw as I saw it, the first half of that commentary series and the second half were separated by about 4-5 pages and reflected what i felt about alien at that time that I wrote it.

I always shy away form thinking civvies have caught 2 baddies on D1; I've seen it suggested a lot but never seen it really happen (unless of course 1 baddie tries SUPER hard to save the other and basically outs themselves). Sprit was 3rd possible lynch train behind Mac yesterday, so I'm leery.

However, that is my only justification for putting sprit slightly higher on my tier list than others, and I'm fully aware it's a weak one as it's non-thread-based.

then again i came outta a game where the top two D1 lynch options were both mafia, and both of them had pretty decent support and traction.

my initial read on Luna was based sorta on her content itself (not 'tone' exactly, but she doesn't seem afraid of her own opinions regardless of how they're taken), but i think the interactions with alien are pretty good. he tried to discredit her at a lot of different avenues and insisted on her not being "genuine" without ever really being able to talk through that read or what it meant. Luna also started giving alien some town points to alien when he was sort of a sinking ship, and he grabbed onto those and seemed genuinely grateful/like he wanted to capitalize on them.

Alright, so I think RobotNerd is spewed town (yay TMI) by Alien, and this alone is why she is placed in moderate town. The way Alien talks about Robot also reads very similarly to the way scum Alien talked about a low hanging fruit townie (dichotomousCreator) in wild cards 1, and I originally thought that as well, but then we ended up MLing him anyway because he independently looked scummy. I'd hesitate to make that mistake again here. Nonetheless we must consider Robot on her own merits and consider the possibility that Alien was defending a teammate here.

Could you talk more about the things that specifically had you feeling this way, even if you don't have the same perspective right now?
