Well, in the context of the thread, all this talk was him prodding people into engaging him.
Or what were you referring to when saying "all this talk"

Re: Pyre Mafia [Day 1]
ted started out just reading the thread, meming with a few gifs at stuff, and peacing out. Then there was a brief period where ted was doing stuff. now ted's just tunneling me for bad reasons and is ignoring anything else. no one really wants to vote out the tunneler. they'll just say "oh it's town but wrong" and if he gets his way and I flip they're more likely to look at the bandwagoners than at ted himself. It's an easy strategy that'll end up with ted spewing nothing, avoiding talking about half the game, and safely getting through probably at least the first 2 days with limited suspicion.

Re: Pyre Mafia [Day 1]
My impulse is to read ted as town in all of this, but we were mafia partners in a game recently where he committed to making strong, impassioned pushes on reads for thread credibility a couple of times in that game. So I do think this strategy is in his playbook. But I’m not certsin that's what we’re seeing here. He might also just be in a tunnel.Marcher Jovian wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 1:41 pmted started out just reading the thread, meming with a few gifs at stuff, and peacing out. Re: Pyre Mafia [Day 1]
:y: that's similar to what I was going to say. he just spent a page tunneling you for bad reasons, didn't do anything else, and several people already townread him for it. He was doing something similar to me earlier in the game, and even pulled out this ridiculous "you are zack you're better than this" card when (a) it was laughably early for that (and not correct eitherMarcher Jovian wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 1:41 pmted started out just reading the thread, meming with a few gifs at stuff, and peacing out. I never got any response. His focus is super narrow.
Also I normally hate "talking to someone like they're a villager" reads, but he talked to moth like he knew he was a villager and tried to discredit + dismiss me with a completely over the top response when I brought it up. That's how visor once described my wolf game, deflect + discredit, and ted's play reminds me of that description.

I actually doubt it was prodding. Your post had a direction already. You keep on following it.
First you twist my words and now you are looking for a push, all under the pretext that you were "prodding" my thoughts.
but it's day zero and i'm just poking at whatever catches my attention![]()

you're Zack, you don't make pushes like these ones. If you do, the way you go about it is actually villagery, whereas here it just reeks.
see you later though, if you're town, i'll find ya
your characterization of my play is incorrect, btw. for much of day 1 i usually just shitpost and lazily react to things for thin reasons. it's not even d1 yet, we can't even vote. I don't think I've really posted anything alignment indicative so far (for me)

We’ve played a ton of games together over the years and so we’re more familiar with each other’s styles than a normal player, but neither of us has a perfectly accurate record reading the other.

oh cool, back in the day there used to be a little more overlap between the two playerbases. I only played a couple IOT games and they were abandoned after not very long iirc. I've only played in a couple CFC games since the recent resurgence, and people on CFC probably think of me more as an MUer than a CFCer noww, but it's actually my homesite. First started playing in 2010 (technically in 2009, but not really), and even then I was still garbage for awhile

Re: Pyre Mafia [Day 1]
Just an FYI, I do intend to play this game seriously. Some day. Just...not right now. Busy drowning in work. (I didn't think the game would start so soon.)
I can do lazy GTH reads if anyone wants, but they'd be kind of worthless at this point.

Townie:
Moth - because he just doesn't seem to care how he comes across
tedxtr - being insightful yet a bit cautious (in a good way) in his outlook on the people he's interacted with
KZA - meta read; we've played together plenty and he sounds comfortable here
tutuu - perhaps mistaking 'fun' for 'townie' but I like them so far
Townie I guess?
bronana - mainly based on presence; not sure I've yet seen anything that makes me slot you higher than this
Nook - slanking D1 is his MO; when I scummed with him he was in the background but always nudging things in certain directions on D1, and he's not doing that here
TSP - responding to a big post with just 'bad' is vintage TSP
Mac - seems jovial enough to be town, but nothing that isn't fakeable tbh
Hmmmmm:
Nutella & Sloonei - tbh I kind of want to agree with both of them; meta-wise, neither has yet convinced me I'm seeing the town version of themselves (but I'm not calling this w/w) - needs further observation
Marcher - seems to be forcing things
Carotenoid - seems a bit hesitant, like putting a toe in the water but not fully committing yet
Not going to force anyone into a scum read.
Not going to comment on anyone else even though I've noticed them post a few times, e.g. Lissa, Turnip Head, etc. If I don't have solid meta I'm not going to hedge a read until I think about it properly.
