this is just a side note and not super relevant to the game, but im a little disappointed at the lack of flavour/mech discussion

its such a cool flavour/theme with potential for hidden mechs and nobody wants to talk shop

Alright so in game states like these ones, I was taught a very important thing that I hold close to my heart.

When there's nothing to analyse / nobody is doing anything, you gotta kickstart the hunting process by saying stuff

It is under this great wisdom that I will have a string of posts which only contains reads from now on and I'm forcing myself to actually be useful and not shitpost.

My posts from now on will ONLY have the purpose of advancing my wincondition :wiz:

We proceed with yet another analysis of 3 players, it's a random order, kind of pluck slots that have acceptable number of posts that I also have no sort of opinion on

Turnip Head / Soneji / Dr Wilgy

Turnip Head -

Good opening but this guy is charismatic, not putting as much stock in his opening.
Turnip Head wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2020 9:40 am Game isn't calm we just haven't struck a good angle yet imo. I doubt the wolves are full-scale MIA, more likely low key barnacles suckling the townie posts
Turnip Head wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2020 10:16 am [VOTE: bronana] aubergine

I feel really really good about this vote and I'd like to see a big wagon for pressure
Liking this progression, bronana is just on the brink of that assessment (at the time of this post) and I like that his first thought on the game is immediately followed up on by some scum hunting. It adds to the genuine hunting mindset, I guess.

As in, "yeah so wolves are probably here" and the next post is kind of hunting to test that theory / sorting in that pool or something.

My perception of TH's meta is kind of being under the radar but his options are limited to what the thread consensus is, whereas in this game he just kind of seems to dismiss fights / hop on an opportunity to create more chaos.

I guess the next point I'm about to make is directly contradicting, but his perspective on Marcher's wolfiness is in the right spot in my opinion. He called out Marcher for making a full 180 on me / pushing the gas pedal as soon as I did.
Turnip Head wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2020 5:30 pm KZA is a lil lurkier than I would like atm, a middle of the road poster who's under the radar in a concerning way to me. I expected to see townie teeth but instead they're sleeping in grannie's pajamas.
This kind of ties in with that first post. Sorta.
Turnip Head wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2020 1:40 pm
bronana wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2020 1:36 pm what do you think of monsieur radishes
He's at about 65% of what I consider his top form townie meta. In the past, he's been much quicker to develop reads and push unique perspectives.
Turnip Head wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2020 1:45 pm [VOTE: Master Radishes] aubergine

After breezing through his ISO, I had no choice.
Yeah this is something that wolves do barely on a town, imo.

If I put in the perspective of "TH is actually kinda the UTR wolf", I have a hard time imagining he'd do this type of thing, especially to Radishes.

Think he'd be more prone to just give him a town lean while Nutella and Dunya scream at each other, but if I consider TH as UTR, then "Okay, I'm gonna wolf read MR even though it's gonna look bad for me after he flips town" doesn't register in my mental map of an UTR wolf as a game winning strategy.

Also thinking he'd be self-aware at the absolute lack of town posts before this, it'd be like a whole gambit altogether.

I kind of want to say the guy's town although I admit I don't have any damning evidence, but his body of work is ~fine as of right now.

Also wanted to add that I can see TH scum reading MR, as that was my gut reaction, but dwelving into a more level 3 kind of read on him I figured he was town, but I can see TH buying his read there, so I have no worries with the push.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dr Wilgy -
I really want to say the slot's wolf.
I think the guy presented a "way too chill" aura for a townie that is being wagonned at EoD and his whole stance on the matter, or rather, his mindset reads very artificial in dealing with it. It's trying too hard to not be bothered by being wagonned and reason his way out of the cuddle.
(someone that has DrWilgy meta should probably weigh in on whether this is a good way to read him - is he an emotional player?)
Kinda think that as a town you just have to ISO the people that are voting you / scream at them / figure out why they are pushing you, where he just went "Gonna ISO KZA cuz I know him, found nothing"
and then kinda just posting for the sake of posting and he poops a "If it's not Radish or I, who are the scum?"
Which is by far the wolfiest post in his ISO. This guy has read nothing but the OP and he is trying to deflect the votes off his wagon and Radish, while not having a Radish read, he doesn't care that he's being voted, he just wants to get votes off him.
His following questions are just exploring the other options IMO and trying way too much to be reasonable.
I think a villager's priority coming to a wagon on them is exactly :
1) Sort your voters
2) Figure out the alignment of your counter-wagon / counter-wagons
3) Be inquisitive of the way the wagon on you has formed
None of which are points Wilgy was interested in.
So, yeah, the slot can get cuddled. Big cuddle. Suffocating cuddle. DVC cuddle.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Soneji -

I wish I could force a read but I think it's gonna be a wrong read, so I'm just gonna declare myself defeated and say I'm keeping him at a null, pending new information.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some recap of my reads (have 6 reads that I've actually ISO'd)
{KZA}
{Turnip Head}
{Carote}
{TSP} (very weak town read)
========
{Soneji} -------> Null line
========
{DrWilgy}
:wiz:
Some P-edit of this is that I probably have some big concerns w/r/t Turnip if I look at Wilgy as wolf, because I think he pushed the gas pedal on MR exactly when Wilgy was being discussed as an option
I thought the way he went about his read on MR is villagery still but I wanted to reality-check myself, because I didn't dig TH's entire ISO to have a higher baseline to evaluate from.
It's just...something to keep an eye on.
Another + sign for Turnip is that, if he were a wolf with Wilgy, he already had the Jovian set-up to push at that time, so pulling a Radishes read made no sense whatsoever. If he wanted to save a wolf, he would've done so by coming back to his Jovian read, imo.
I know this is taking pre-flip into account but I feel like having that dissonance in my head w/r/t Wilgy wolf and TH taking those actions might heavily interfere with my read on him, for no reason, even if Wilgy were to flip town. My brain works in many mysterious ways.
i said thoughts not posts
i offered a thought about you being a wagon
but i also voted TSP because i wanted to see what happened
the two things aren't connected and I have no idea why you think they would be. most things don't have connection in ww if you're a villager, you do what you think is a good move at the time.
i have no idea if this TSP vote will hold, but maybe people will look at it and think about the player. I know I do that with offshoot votes, but ymmv.
there's no connection between the two thoughts.
To after ISO him I have no choice but to vote him when he starts to get some heat to like He is 100% wolf when asked. When Master Radishes was top voted and that some people started to doubt about the banish they were kinda just here watching and not doing much.
Your post later makes me think I have put DrWilgy as town for bad reasons earlier and it makes a lot of sense to me.
nutella—her pushes have felt kinda sketch, like opportunistic and ill-founded. but pushing on the maybe they’re masons thing shows like that extra degree of thinking and uncertainty about the game. Need to think whether it’s good enough to give her space and not vote her today
Turnip Head—I remember not enough about this person. They confidently pushed MR yesterday based on meta reads. People with meta on TH, how confident/brazen are they as a wolf? A bit of a wagon earlier today, tedxtr liked the iso. I ought to check this iso
Sloonei—this post summed up my thoughts, http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... ya#p620996 . Wagon comp looks kinda weird. Probably falls under “player good enough they ought to get another day to give them a chance to clear themselves”
Soneji—Posted very little. The few posts they’ve made have been underwhelming. [insert thoughts that are illegal in MU but I don’t know the exact etiquette about on Syndicate]
I think with the gamestate of yesterday wolves try to push Master Radishes so he doesn't have the time to become townier and keep Marcher Jovian as futur mislims
Same for DrWilgy if he's town
zero consideration as to if any wolves preferred you as the elim?
TH iso hella underwhelming. I now see why I did not remember any of their other posts. It doesn’t feel like the same person who declared that MR was badishes. Do not mind the wagon here.
Hey gang, questions for everyone, answer what you feel like answering it would be nice.
—> What’s your general impression of the game? What are your « big picture reads » of the game right now?
—> How do you feel about the threadstate? Who’s benefitting from it? Who’s maintaining it and who’s trying to change it?
I can understand that some people don’t have the time/energy/motivation to move heaven and earth right now but hey, we signed up to play together so let’s town it up and play together. <3
This is fair although wolves don’t think 10 steps ahead.
My point was that, unless a wolf was being wagonned, he had no reason to stand out like that, and if a wolf was wagonned, he took a gambit of “Ah shit I just called MR town, I do have other outs but let’s go with a full 180 on the read” - it’s kind of a silly thing to do imo.
I’m kind of thinking like a chess game lol, it just seems counterintuitive for a wolf to switch his read in the span of 5 minutes when he could’ve explored other options if he wanted to save a wolf.
Unless the wolves are exactly Wilgy and Jovian then I am tempted to say I can kinda shrug it off, plus, the push was very well faked in terms of the moment of the push as well as tone
Maybe it looks simple to pull off but it’s a truly masterful play for TH if he’s a wolf, or any other wolf for that matter.
TH didn’t switch their read though. They said they though MR was significantly underperforming their town game, then did a scumread
I don't think it's fair to think "wolves think 10 steps ahead", it really just depends on people. [Also I wanted to say "Marcher Jovian and me as futures mislims] And like, if you have 3 town wagons to hop on, I think you just hop on the one that's gonna be harder to mislim later. Also I think wolves know that Master Radishes wagon is going to look really bad no matter if he dies or not so might as well banish him so he doesn't rip them apart after that.
I think the point we disagree is that whether what Turnip Head did "stand out". Like, sure, when you ISO them it's like *flashy not so sensical bold move* but in the global threadstate it was kinda just like buried in the rest?
Ha, didn't see it like that. That's a... weird way to approach it, especially with the absence of "maybe he's just really busy/need another chance/day" phase.
do you want to read someone at random and tell us what you think of them?
Who are the scribes and what's going on?
On Night 1, Long Con opened a portal to the Upside Down, and DrWilgy was sadly swallowed by the resulting black hole. He was replaced with an alternate universe's DrWilgy, but we all knew he was from an alternate universe since we saw the original DrWilgy disappear. DrWilgy2 went kinda crazy due to the trauma, and Long Con mercifully wiped his memory. Unbeknownst to the rest of us however, Long Con injected the newly wiped DrWilgy2 with fake memories, causing him to become the perfect wolf-hunting killing machine, only he doesn't remember any of that.
Who's bad?
And this spikes both my dread and spawns an identity issue.
Neat!
Not sure yet, but do we have reference to afew cases, or points of contention?
I'm trying to find a good spot to catch up from. Maybe 10 or so pages ago.
This post makes me think DrWilgy is bad because he would not want for his teammates to die
Rude
I definitely think DrWilgy is bad because we know that Master Radishes is good and he said RUDE!
