It was Day 1, and that's a common strategy for Day 1 (even for me). And your comments from the Stanley Game bothered me a bit and caused me to wonder if that attitude had carried over.

I still haven't caught up on the whole thread, though I will be doing that now.

I know that exact event happened. That's why I wrote the line as "I now have my hanky..." :)

For me, I found FZ's behavior when the lynch was going down, really weird. Usually we see eye to eye, feel the same way about situations but that couldn't have been farther from what happened. Her unwillingness to lynch MP along with her paranoia to the end just seemed strange. I don't necessarily think that would be on the same team, I think FZ would have cut ties with him (although I'm not sure what she would do on this site as opposed to our home site, I play a different scum game here). But I should have at least been able to feel a bit of paranoia similar to hers at the end of the lynch, perhaps it was because I wasn't here for everything to go down live? But she's caught my eye.

I also believe MP defended INH, who I was already suspicious of, and that could be a possible teammate of his.
However, something worth noting is both Reyas and Snowdog agreed (found here) with me in the way that it felt they were hopping on a suspicion without really doing anything. I can't necessarily fault them for agreeing, because I think I had a good point, but it stuck out to me.

While MP was bad, I was surprised to see Dom mention me when he voted for MP. It wasn't really needed, perhaps if Dom is on one team and didn't know if MP was bad he wanted something to fall back on. I'm not sure. Perhaps him agreeing with me is good though, I don't think we usually do, and I think I've only played with him when he's been a baddie or independent. That post can be found here.

Anyways, that is what caught my eye.
yeah, that's not what I was doing. I wasn't "hopping on a suspicion" at all. I was agreeing that INH's reaction to juliets was extreme...not that he was suspicious for it. I didn't get the feeling that you were suspicious of him for it either tbh.

Matt's a realllllly smart guy, so I'm hoping it's just him feeling comfortable enough to participate more. Mattmatt, I hope you don't take offense of any of that. I know it doesn't sound very polite to insinuate someone is being coached, but that's not precisely what I mean (V&A wouldn't mind being coached by L, if you know what they mean).
First, who is Matt? And second, what do you mean by "if you know what they mean". Should that say "if you know what I mean" and if so, I don't know what you mean so could you explain what this means? (How many times can I use the word mean in a sentence?) Anyway, I would appreciate it if you could set me straight on what this is all about.
So sorry, Juliets. I'll be happy to clear this up. Matt = A Person, which is how I should address him in-game. The "if you know what they mean" is a joke because either him or Vomps will take an inadvertent double entendre that someone says, quote it, and say "I wouldn't mind XYZ.... if you know what I mean."

Yes, Epig, I closed my laptop before I hit vote on accident. I am not making that up. This is like the second or third time that you have (in all time) accused me of making up excuses about stupid things I have done causing me to miss votes or ignore posts. Most of those times I have been civvie, I think-- I can't particularly remember.

For example, I never saw these posts because sometimes I don't hit the unread button and I hit the thread name from the home forum page. That causes it to go to the last post in the thread, and I scroll until I think I see things I've already seen. Sometimes I'm wrong about that.

Actually no. I looked at the top 5 posters at the time; MP, Llama, You- TH, Leamiteo, and Metal. Of those 5 only MP had a vote on him already. Since I know it is typical of his and llamas playstyle to to be top posters I would have cut him some slack. However, the votes were already so spread out. I can't claim anything more brilliant than that honestly.

I did go back and look at WWE where the top posters thing started for me. Of the top 10 posters, 4 out of 6 were bad. Granted two of them were alive at the end of the game. Based on this small sample group I decided to test this theory again.

So sorry to miss playing with you MP however. This is already a game off to a great start with lively discussion.
This whole post doesn't make me feel good about you. Your vote for MP yesterday bugged me, and the fact that he came out baddie doesn't change the fact that your vote for him and you telling people to not spread their vote after that seemed like a good way to explain a vote that had no reasoning behind it, and maybe give some of your possible team mates a reason to vote MP ("we didn't want to spread the votes").
Now, this "Brought it" feels to me like you're trying to make sure we think of you as responsible for a baddie lynch.
As for the top poster theory, I've played enough games where there was only one or two baddies in the top posters, but this reasoning clears you of any responsibility if it fails

I don't know what your problem is. I explained why I was hesitant in voting MP. It felt like the votes were piling up on him, which is something I'm not used to here, and while I started feeling less sure he was a civvie in the last day or so, I started out feeling he was the most civvie of them all, the way he progressed the game, so I was still hesitant to call him a baddie, not to mention my stupid tendency to view people who are suspicious of me as more civ 'than baddie. Anyway, that was what was going on through my mind, and you of all people should be able to get me in situations like this. This is the second time you've said something that I really don't expect you to say, and it's starting to worry me. If you'd said I could be on MP's team, I'd know you're bad :p , but saying I might be on the other team is clever enough to make me hesitate on this.

It's been a while since I've played a big game with Hedgie, but this has been her civvie style recently: going after indies, or members of VAL, now the high posters - weird shit like that. This type of reasoning is bound to draw attention and she knows that. She's actually a very good and careful baddie. It is possible she adopted the same strategy as a baddie to lead us on, but for now I don't see anything out of the ordinary with this.

I think if MP was distancing from any of his teammates yesterday, that his vote for Daisy stands out the most. It wasn't based on much, and Daisy seemed particularly nonplussed by it, and I don't see him voting for his significant other on Day 1 without some kind of ulterior motive. MP is usually pretty good at explaining his thought process, but his quick vote for Daisy seemed... exploitative, almost. Like he had come up with just enough reason to mention her and throw a vote on her.

And which is a more immortal form of distancing: small side conversations on Day 1 that nobody will have remembered if we were talking about MP on say, Day 5? Or voting records which, as Kyle mentioned, there's an entire thread dedicated to preserving.

I thought about this too, and I think it's a really good point. He knew she was in no danger of being lynched, so a vote on her was totally safe.

I thought about this too, and I think it's a really good point. He knew she was in no danger of being lynched, so a vote on her was totally safe.
So he basically distanced himself from 3 people: FZ, Dom and Daisy. We know he has the habit of dropping one or two teammates' name, but I can't remember if he actually ever voted for them. I was wondering though, he's been doing the same thing every single time he's bad, and he knows we know it because we've called him out on it, so I wonder... what if this is a slight change of strategy?

Some things drew my attention: his interaction with Snowy, his picking on Bullz (more or less jokingly) for randomising a player who had just returned from a long break, Snowy's reasoning 'maybe...' for voting for INH, raising an eyebrow when Llama accused Dom, from whom MP distanced himself. I feel terrible because I've been waiting for Snowy's grand return, but I'll have to keep an eye on him.

EBWOP: reasoning AND timing of Snowy's vote for INH.

Also, another form of distancing is throwing your teammate under the bus. I wonder if we there's at least one of MP's teammates in those 6 that voted for him. :ponder:

I'd chalk up the Dom thing as trying to get the ball rolling on behalf of Llama's gut. The FZ thing seemed an intentional dead-end suspicion that allowed MP to contemplate his navel and look like he was sorting through things. The Daisy vote seems like... well, like distancing. :p

Also, between the time where I and others presented the case on MP, and the time when MP actually started taking votes, there were a LOT of randomized votes... mostly from people who did not even acknowledge the case on MP. Not wanting to vote for a teammate on Day 1 but also not wanting to defend him or start a counter bandwagon, mayhaps?

An interesting thought.

Turnip Head (18), Hedgeowl (19), juliets (20), Captain Bunny Killer (21), kneel4justice (23), Epignosis (24) 25%

I don't believe Rob and MP were on a team (if they were, they would have won by now) and TH and Hedgeowl's votes would have been too risky for teammates, but you may be onto something with juliets, CBK or K4J.

Oh snap, I went back and looked and I see what you're saying about Snow Dog, Lizzy  I've never played with him before, is it customary for him to have that sort of noncommittal vibe to his suspicions? He kept saying he would "maybe" vote INH, or INH could "maybe" be a baddie, like he was afraid to commit to the idea.

What changed between Friday night when you seemed confident about your vote and Saturday where you came back to say you might not catch up, but yet you are no longer confident about the player you had in mind? You seem to have strongly changed your opinion on this player, because you were contemplating not voting at all and asking about punishments for missing the vote. But it also looks like you're saying you hadn't read the thread yet.

At the time I voted, MP, Faraday, and Daisy all had two votes. I was the one who broke the tie that put MP in the lead. Do you think his teammate would have done that?
