Good morning everyone! I'm here for a few minutes before I leave for work.

I'm going through my normal process of trying to identify who is town and narrow down to my poe. As usual for this point I'm seeing a lot of null because I don't put a lot of stock in first post reads or rvs. I am town leaning Falconknows and Akemi Hazelnut so far and think I'll have more leans this afternoon after spending more time in the thread.

I will also iso the TwoandThrough head today to get a better feel for whether I agree with my partner. I correctly read Tim in one of the games I've played with him (Radiohead) but misread him in Congress so I'm wary.

I'll be back sometime after 3:00 edt and will be here for several hours. More then.

So here's the deal. I'm town. As I just showed in Nanook's game, if you give me some flips to work with I will happily solve the game and die. I know no one is gonna let me end game. No one should ever let me end game. But at this point I think you should start looking at why so many people are willing to say "oh, one of them misspelled first in their matching one word entry posts...that's a wolf tell for sure" or whatever dumb nonsense is being pitched here. Because somewhere in there are the usual opportunists thinking that this time...finally this time...they are gonna be the wolves that get a day one chop on me.

What was I supposed to think about the vote triangle? I think it was unusual, and I made that pretty clear. I actually don't recall seeing that before. With no previous experience of it I have no earthly idea what to make of it. I think what makes it unusual is that it's kind of typical for people to think the person voting them might be a wolf, and that someone voting for that person could be right in doing so...or at the least take kind of an unconscious "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" path. So generally when you have someone voting you and then someone votes for them the reaction is to pile on, not make a triangle. But as I said I am not claiming to "know what it means," I'm just doing my usual drift through day one and noted an oddity.

Of course, my usual drift through day one has all the usual complainers complaining. The people who throw random "reads" based on whatever feelie they get from some obscure bit of wording want me to do the same, and since I don't they cry wolf. The people who want to ascribe some deep meaning to "they opened with a copy pasta" when the player most likely always opens with a copy pasta are upset that I am not having a deeply meaningful conversation about the copy pasta, and they cry wolf. Syn is no doubt gonna death tunnel me again because he is always crying wolf when I come around. It's just another day one in the life.

Yes, it's a good thought to have but on the grand scheme of things but it's kind of a meaningless observation if you don't know, or don't at least have a thought of what it means

Also, my b for not being around much so far; was working on some game design ideas last night, and then my sister's PhD defense was this morning. I took off until lunch today, tho, so I'm gonna be around and catching up! I remember Tim giving me a kinda offputting vibe earlier; their early posts felt a little forced imo. Not really anything I can find concrete stuff on, but just gut. I thought Bottom Text's response to my slight application of pressure was nice (I liked the gif lol), and I can't tell if Poop is asking for reads to look productive or if he's asking for reads to try and encourage the game to exit RVS (I'm tending toward the latter on a re-read). All of earlygame is just kinda tough when I dunno what people's playstyles are lol

Not only does this not make sense as a response to what you see as an obvious joke, the upbeat tone ("you are supposed to be kidding!") does not really match what I have come to expect of your town game, which would be an eye roll followed by a snipe at the accuracy of first post reads.

Why Julinook?

I think if nook is scum in this setup he is likely to make 0 serious reads for the first fifty pages. He can easily get away with coasting hard given his town meta, especially in a meme/fun game like this, and I know he loves abusing that as mafia. Being willing to break from it in order to drop a serious read on something he noticed/got pinged by is townie.

This is all really good meta stuff, but I've got no clue how accurate it is (nor do I have an idea of how established/consistent the meta for each player is). I will warn that people can (& will) change their gameplay if they become "known" for certain things (so they can capitalize on meta if it becomes a crutch for town), but there's not a whole lot else to go off of in D1 I guess lol.

Okay...I know that feelie reads and meta and all that are the rage here, and actual looking at vote movements and other...y'know...objective stuff...is generally dismissed...but it is really weird that Trans Rights is voting for Poop Explosions and Poop Explosions is voting for Bottom Text and Bottom Text is voting for Trans Rights. I dunno if it means anything or what it might mean, but a cozy little triangle like that is a pretty unusual vote pattern so remind me later when we get some flips to see if there was anything to it.

C: I've spectated every one of Urist's games on this site, and you lot seem like a really fantastic bunch of folk. I don't have a ton of time to play mafia, due to my rl duties D:, so I'm really happy that I finally have this opportunity to meet you all, and enter into a game with my best friend and life partner Urist <333. I learned basically all I know about mafia from him, so hydraing with him is a real treat hehe. He's honestly so good *o*. I watched some of the games, and it's clear that he almost won all of them, it's just unfortunate that his teammates were really really really bad and threw the game and made it totally ridiculously unwinnable. Like in fallout where c4 set the game up for an unmitigated disaster by being daykilled so early! @_@ Hopefully this game will be better lol!!! ^-^ Anyway nice to meet all of you, ps urist is the best!!

That's fair; I mainly picked on the claim because I didn't think it benefitted town much, and would crumb a common scumteam fakeclaim. I'd understand if they made the claim trying to bait folks into commenting on it (do some sort of gambit) to get out of RVS, but it ended up just being a jokey timewaster that they can point back to as trying to generate interactions (even though literally nobody would buy a claim like that).

that's like the only productive thing you've done all game, so of course if your only observation is a complete nothingburger, you're not going to get a good response. your only other contributions have been some read on the falconknows slot with... not even sure if that was serious because you were answering for someone else and the answer wasn't even definitive, and you engaging in with mist regarding a discussion of godreads. i won't disagree that godreads can be unreliable because i've seen many a godread be wrong before! but it seems like you were specifically taking the line to try and discredit mist when all she was doing was talking about how people can't reliably read her and the process required to be able to reliably read her.

mist clearly was not fishing for a "godread". who do you actually think would have a godread on mist in this game? hyena or something? no, what was actually happening was mist being annoyed about bottom text thinking they could read her when their read wasn't good.
