Gavial my boy, I already answered your question. Perhaps consider for a moment why you keep getting these "town but doesn't make sense" reads (or just "doesn't make sense") -- you don't even need to talk about it, just give it some Gavial time in that Gavial brain. Think about the way that you derive suspicion and then the way that you pursue it. Let it all coagulate into perspective soup and take a big swig right out of the bowl.

I have hardly ever been mafia when you've been town in recent memory, so I really dunno how I'd approach it in 2021. I can't remember any examples since Transistor in like 2016. And in that game I just let you suspect me and deflected it carelessly until it was time to kill you.

Like how do you know if my style is AI at all? I've made ~four posts. For a site where the strat is forming early towncores, this seemed generous.
I don't remember who the culprits were, maybe nutella and someone else, I think I did forgive nutella at the time due to context but then I remembered it wasn't just her so big shrug.

I guess I did mention something of the sort in the past but not exactly, so I'm not entirely sure if you're referring to me at all here.

Regardless, I think you seemed to display self-consciousness in a townie way. I mean, at least I don't generally find nor have experienced wolves stating these early on:

Forgetting your town-leans + setting profile location + only four posts initially and all of that strike me as feeling a bit overwhelmed. I don't mean any negative connotation with "overwhelmed" though; I just think it looks better as I think a wolf that is overwhelmed slightly may stick with textbook or simple stuff more (such as keeping their reads or elaborating on them for example) than they might otherwise wouldn't have and so I think this shines more positively.

And also I have felt the same wrt to judging oneself for favorably reading Tangrowth, though perhaps not for the exact same reason/post.

Tell me more about your Dana read? Her intro pinged me but I note that the locals seemed unphased.

Good one to ask about, and that's a read that could stand to develop further. I liked Dana's entry into the game, because it reflected the persona I have come to associate with her in limited time together -- she and I actually shared a mafia chat for one day prior to AIM Mafia before the game was re-rolled, and I think I learned a lot about her in there. She's an earnest player who wants to be involved and make her mark, and she will make a good effort to do so -- but only by plowing through her own natural uncertainty, paranoia, and lower confidence. She had a lengthy hiatus of her own until a few months ago and is still feeling out her way around the game of Mafia. To this point I think she looks like the town version of her that I have seen so far and learned about in that chat.

She should provide more reads so I can do more with this read than rely on vague notions like those above.

I echo this, mostly from what I remember of conversations with Dana eons ago.

Nothing drives mafia nuts like townies town reading townies. That's what I strive for.

What you say about Tangrowth is technically valid -- she has a relatively low ratio of post-count-to-reads-content and much of her play to this point has been of the fluffier conversational variety. In a backwards manner, that actually contributes to my positive view of her. I get no impression that she is trying to look a part or move the game any particular direction (i.e. agenda) beyond a few choice questions/pokes/reads. Instead she just looks thrilled to be here, in her first Syndicate game in quite a while -- a significant thing given that she founded the website. Her comfort level is suitable to the town alignment, and there's still enough reading going on in her posts to make her relevant and involved.

Vigilance on the Tangrowth read is important, because she has proven in the past to be a capable mafioso who can outpost most town players in her sleep. On that front I don't fault you or others for being unsure. I lean in the positive direction at this point though.

I think I definitely would feel a lot more pressure to "produce" if I had a scum role card right now.

I've played two games there and hosted one at PerC, same for here minus hosting a game....

I just wanted a date cause I'm lonely as hell, so lonely that I play mafia at a forum with other lonely nerdy people.

I know how you feel. About wanting a date, not about being from the Syndicate. This is my first time on this site. I'm from PerC. It's there that I played Mafia for the first time. They've become accustomed to my somewhat erratic (and enthusiastic) play style. They still sometimes call me scum for my play style or claim that they can't read me, which is an odd thing because reads are my area of weakness, not necessarily theirs. I came here to look for a date who would be understanding of my eccentricities and my odd play style. And my slowness to form reads. I don't have any reads yet, probably because people are coming across as too anxious to find a date and, therefore, very guarded and not open. I am seeing shells and not players so the reads aren't there.

I am looking for an date who can be better at reads and who might need a partner who is good at being spontaneous and a little eccentric. Together, this date and I will complete each other. What are you looking for?

I don't think I said it was weird? I don't believe I was framing it negatively.

Fairly sure I made it clear that I was simply wondering if they were wondering about something that they simply hadn't mentioned. I wouldn't be surprised if we all had moments when we've thought about something but didn't even mention it.
