Okay the rogue is 100% not Nook, Ted or Dizzy.

SPF/PC
Long Con
Juliets/Oddmerta

Rogue will probably inherit the kill here. Hopefully just a factional and we didn't just activate a worse killer.

I'm a bit worried all the magpie visitors might die tonight. If we do just yeet SPF and win.

so, how the hell do we hunt for 3p?

the strongest argument i can provide in favor of me not being 3p is the fact that i have townsided INCREDIBLY hard. i hardpushed on nearly all of the mafia, and in my position as a 3p, i would want to have the mafia around for quite a long time so that i don't get steamrolled when they all get eliminated. i would NEVER participate in a steamrolling of the mafia team like i did as 3p if my sole motivation was self-preservation. i would stoke paranoia and tear people apart

you can not read my game w/a straight face and tell me you believe that i had a 3p strategy in mind

well the 3p strategy is to self-preserve, right? 3p generally wants to survive until endgame. i, spf, do not survive until endgame by eliminating the mafia team incredibly fast

Yeah, but you wouldn't know if you were right or wrong about any given mafia member. And you would want to actually try to find scum because you need to appear townish to the townsfolk.

there isnt only one strategy i could follow as 3p, but my point is that my strategy this game would be diametrically opposed to how a 3p strategy should be. the fact that nobody believes that i am not 3p is proof of that

How about this strategy: do well against the mafia so the town likes you, but don't be the main voice in the thread; let others draw the nightkills with their many town posts and outed power roles. Just tell everyone you can't claim.

if the strategy involves playing a decent role in killing several of the mafia, which both puts you at risk at being nightkilled while eliminating the mafia pool so quickly that you become more suspicious when the mafia are gone, then that strategy doesn't work very well at all, does it?

this seems like an extremely bad way to hunt for the 3p but in fairness to you, i dont see many other feasible ways to hunt for the 3p other than identifying who was the most "out of place" in the game overall

it just seems like meaningless speculation to me, though. we know nothing about the magpie and to assume that it inherently has 3p equity is again, an assumption based off of wishful thinking. the same goes for poison's role - it makes sense if poison's role could be 3p, but i feel the same way about nearly every player here. judging 3p equity by roleclaims just feels flimsy to me

we should basically be treating like this we just entered a daystart game with one mafia who has no partners

Re: Radiohead Mafia [DAY 7]

Posted: Fri Sep 18, 2020 2:48 am
by NANOOKTHEGREATANDFEARSOME
I disagree that it’s particularly flimsy, some role claims have considerably more 3p equity than others. I’m not going to gamble the game entirely on that but ignoring it completely seems stupid to me, YMMV 🤷‍♀️

I get that you’re going to push magpie as not being 3p cause there’s a good chance you are magpie but FMPOV I think there’s a solid chance it is 🤷‍♀️

based on what? wishful thinking? the train of thought of: "i do not particularly know what a role does, so it's more likely to be 3p than not" is flimsy. i get that the options are narrow, but i'd rather base my vote on "scumhunting" instead of speculation over mechanics
