I don't consider any game relevant conversation pointless. It helps me get a real on polo for example. He seems like newbtown. Without talking to him about this, it would be harder to get such a read.Dom wrote:This is such a pointless conversation in the context of the game. We discussed this already, didn't we?
I really don't think this game has been overly active or there's a need to stifle discussion. Right?

What I do, when I know I'm gonna be away at deadline is say I won't be here and make sure my vote is where I want it before I go and where I think it needs to be at deadline. Then I don't worry about it. Seems like a simple enough solution. If anything changes that close to deadline, there isn't much more you can do if you aren't here.Scotty wrote:Yet you had plenty of discussion over bwt and DFaraday just earlier in the day. Re: Downton Abbey Mafia (Night 1)
We had a cop. That got lynched D3 but still got a couple clears off. I really want to lynch every day that we can. Think about it this way. We look at the wagon on the civ if they are civ. We look at confirmed civs reads. We get the NK. We look at that person's reads to see who they suspected and try to figure out why they were killed. Later in the game, we look at VCA-vote count analysis and figure out who voted where and why to look for baddie behavior. We need the D1 lynch for the most info. Plus, what I said earlier, I will defend someone I think is town. bwt didn't give me town feels and was very null-I'm usually o.k. with lynches like that on d1 where we have next to no information to go on.Polo wrote:I was in civ in that game as well; we didn't have role players in that heist, though, and you have to admit that the Day 1 lynch was simply a lucky strike. Be aware that civs have plenty of useful role powers in this game.Epignosis wrote:I have to do this.Silverwolf wrote:Last game I played we lynched scum D1, D2, D4 and won the game. It can happen. If we don't lynch, it won't happen at all. Plus, the info. that can be gained from the lynch, flips is helpful for D2. Seeing voting patterns helps read players. I'm not even sure why you wouldn't want to lynch on D1 even if the odds were high it would be on a civ. Otherwise, D2 is the same as D1 with no info. except a night kill.Polo wrote:You've got a lot more experience than I do. In how many of the Day 1 lynches in the games you've been part of as a civ did you manage to lynch Mafia? Less than 20%?

No I think lynching D1 is always better than not. I've never played a game where we don't lynch D1. Now we can look at the votes on the wagon and get some info. after NK and flips.Polo wrote:Lynching on day 1 is dumb and the probability of actually killing a mafioso instead of a civ (or even the doctor) is too low to be good. *Wilgy's ghost disappears*
bwt has only 9 posts and none of them say anything, I'm fine with this lynch because it's a complete null read that doesn't look town. If I had a townread here, I'd defend it more. As it is I have no problem with this lynch due to it being on a null read where we may still get scum and/or get info on the lynch.
I have a stronger scumread on Faraday for his defense of the leading wagon right away out of the gate that I explained in detail that it looked like whiteknighting and also some filler posts that say nothing. He has defended himself some but it's not enough to change my vote. I don't mind you looking at me. I have nothing to hide and if it'll get you posting normally again, that's great.
Let me know if you have any questions.

This is in response to DFaraday who I am currently voting for ISO purposes I'm putting it in thread too.

Now, if someone jumps on a major bandwagon with lame reasoning on someone who looks town or flips town, I'm gonna re-examine that a lot more closely next day.
The issue I had with your post is the fact that you started the day defending the leading wagon. It could be you honestly don't believe Dom is scum but I don't get that impression from you. You could be defending a teammate, possible. OR, you could be whiteknighting a wagon as scum which I have done before in past games. Usually in my opening statements because A) It's conversation that is easy to make and looks protown and/or B) I know the wagon is on town and it will give me town points going forward.
Due to your overall posting so far, I'm going with the later for now.

Are the odds in Spacedaisy's favor to make such a read?
There was the Open game-I was mafia, ika was town-fooled him most of the game and won-he says he figured me out at the end.
There was fire and ice-I was mafia, he was civ. He knew I was scum but could not get me lynched. My teammate won that one as I was nightkilled by the other scumteam.
There was the werewolf game-I was wolf, ika was seer-more than likely that would of been him catching me N1 or I would of killed him N1-we had to drop out due to our hydra chat in another game-too easy to cross talk games.
He modded a game where I was mafia traitor and scum won that one as well and modded another scum game where I was scum and we won.
So yeah, ika has good experience with me as scum.
Yes, Daisy has good call to use it. However, she didn't know all this so to assume ika could read me without looking at me herself was slightly odd to me.

This is actually a pretty good point and kind of a town looking post.Spacedaisy wrote: I do have one other thing to comment on, but you probably won't care for it ika. I think your conversation earlier regarding higher standards is highly flawed. In mafia, everyone has a different perspective, different approaches and different ways of thinking. I have often in my mafia career had times when someone seemed so bad to me because I could not see a civilian reason for their behavior. But in the end I found that a lot of it was simply because I looked at things one way and their thought processes led them to look at it in a completely different way. What I am saying is, you are judging everyone according to your standards/expectations, and you are not infallible. Your way is not the only right way. So I would assume you are holding me to a standard because of my role in this site as well and that this plays some part in your feelings about my entrance, but I not only think this is illogical and unfair of you, I also think it will bite you in the ass if you keep up this approach with people.
I'm gonna move my vote to metalmarsh89 to kind of shake things up a bit here.

I felt like it was too "trying to look town" and somewhat weak overall which is why I asked about it and he just kind of said what we all were saying that we didn't understand why someone would give suspicions without elaborating on them. However, it pinged due to the overall tone of the posts that I didn't care for.
What was the tone? What part gave the tone?

Also ika, explain your Space Daisy read? She's pretty null to me right now.
And why is Sorsha town? I don't even remember Sorsha.

Re: Downton Abbey Mafia
My read is mostly a tonal read with a touch of trying hard to look town thrown in. I'm gonna re-read his latest posts. Some of this could be playstyle since I've never played with him before.

Exactly. If you nerf a role, you do something to it so it isn't too strong.Polo wrote:To nerf means to weaken, to soften.

Re: Downton Abbey Mafia
I think it is pretty easy to understand ika if you look at the overall wording of his posts. Griefing is intentionally making a game unenjoyable for other players. I don't really see that happening here.LoRab wrote:I don't mean to be rude, but I barely understand what you are saying here. Okay, Dom here is my first question. Has your game play changed significantly do you think?
Also, can someone please remind me how we multi quote here? I will go hunting in just a mo but figured maybe I could get a faster answer in thread.
Dom'splay is basically the sameness more mature. He is less hyper puppy than he used to be.

I'm emotional as either alignment, it's not really a tell for me. That said, I'm experimenting with NOT being that way this game.

Re: Downton Abbey Mafia
I don't want this either. Last game, I was on constant defense over it for days and then on constant defense over my reads, which were mostly correct that game. ika and I try to sort each other rather quickly in games because we know each other and our meta. That said, once I figure him out, I will move on from it to developing other reads. But expect us to interact some with each other. It's just our personality/playstyle. I am hoping others can get reads from us when we do this. I also have zero intention of getting all frustrated this game. It was absolutely no fun for me to get that way last game and interfered with my ability to play. It was my own doing but still, I don't want to do that again.Long Con wrote:Good, because I don't want to spend pages discussing their relationship within the game again.Scotty wrote:I think that their response to this comment will give all of us a more qualitative read of each of themNerolunar wrote:I see. I'm feeling good about Silverwolf.
That being said, they could both be civs and I'm probably voting a low poster day 1
Im still not comfortable about the fact that Ika and Silverwolf are so connected. The need for their meta reads on eachother decreases as they play more games here, and I really wish they would begin to act a little more independent.

I have several more too but I will say when I am not at work. I should already have enough to make a full read list
