Golden helped me refine an idea I had and it really made the difference. I think my way would have been confusing.

You're mixing up me and nutella. She shared that she found it and it led to Marmot. I looked into it from an Admin point of view because it concerned me, and still does. Glitches in the board usually mean we have set something up incorrectly and it is confusing the forum. I was just sharing what I found which was to say, that it seems to just be a glitch, not some kind of clue.

Personally, I'm not stressing myself much over the sock puppets. I figure they are intended to distract us. Not sure if we can know for sure if it is another player or the host himself so I just kind of ignore them. too much WIFOM trying to figure those out.

Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Night 2
nutella First he says it wouldn't make sense for the role we chose to have influenced the alignment we get. Then he says Elo's role has an obvious mafia connotation. When I started pressing him about this, his response was the game so far has changed his mind. But what in the game would possibly change your mind about this? Especially when it was established as a direct result of the first back and forth between dunya and Golden that Mac randomized alignments regardless of roles. Disregard the conversation about your role influencing what power you got. This alone looks like someone scrambling because they got caught defending a teammate.Spacedaisy wrote: ↑Thu May 24, 2018 2:42 amColinIsCool wrote: ↑Thu May 17, 2018 7:27 pmGotta say I agree with dunya here, although I don't recall what the original disagreement here looked like. What I see from dunya is an unwillingness to let other strong personalities drive the town narrative.
In particular, the 'you pick your role, not your affiliation' line that she's trotting out multiple times is terrible. I've pointed out to her how you can use your choice of role to influence your likely affiliation, and she wrote it off with a dismissal. For a town player who asks a lot of questions, that ought to have been a feast for thought and an avenue for genuine consideration and prodding.
i don't buy your arguments. i don't buy your logic. i don't buy your fake outrage. you're a bad bullshitter. but pls consider that a compliment cos you were an amazing townie last game.Someone tell me I'm not the only one that sees a problem with Colin? He says, I meant alignement when i was talking to Golden. WTF do you think he is saying here? And tell me how it's different if it's the power not the alignment. It's not. Colin is scrambling and he is contradicting himself in the process and I do not understand people defending him as town right now!ColinIsCool wrote: ↑Wed May 23, 2018 11:25 pm I’m not saying Eloh directly picked her role. I don't believe her claim. Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Day 3
Colin contradicted what he said directly. He said with what Golden put forward he couldn't imagine a person's role choice influencing their alignment and turned around and said the opposite. And I disagree that one is more likely than the other.nutella wrote: ↑Thu May 24, 2018 2:48 am @Spacedaisy it's a pretty clear difference. When we submitted roles to Mac he had to draw some thematic connection from it into a role power, so role choices with distinct themes that translate well to mafia could easily have influenced what Mac decided the abilities are. Whereas he confirmed that alignments were totally randomized separately from the role creation (though to be fair I actually don't know whether he randomized alignments before or after designing the abilities).

Whatever man. You aren't the fish I want to fry first anyway. But I do not trust you any longer.
And you think it IS possible that she picked her POWER? This makes zero sense Colin.
Linki Turnip Head Let me paraphrase
Golden in Day 0/1: "I think people could pick really towny looking role names in order to get a town alignment."
dunya in Day 0/1: "Mac wouldn't do that, this doesn't make sense!"
Colin Day 0/1: "I agree with dunya, that doesn't make sense."
Elo Day 3: "I picked my role because I know always get mislynched."
Colin Day 3: "That makes sense to me."

dissented, is that even a word? I'm fired up right now, sorry.
linki motel room Colin sided with dunya when she and goldedn were going abck ahnd forth. Golden said he thought people could pick a certain role to try and get a certain alingment. dunya said there was no way Mac would create the roles that way. Colin sided with dunya.
Wolbre went on and on about boob quest and Colin questioned how that would work in a game where player's picked their own roles.
Why does a guy who is skeptical about these kind of claims (and in his first one I think said the opposite from what he is saying now) suddenly seem ok with her claim?

I can't see that any changes have been made to that thread from the time when it was started and the only person who was using the ACP since Sunday was MP, so the Soulkeeper name showing up as the creator of that thread is a mystery that I can only say must be a glitch and probably means nothing to this game. Mac has apparently cursed our site with his demonic sock puppets. Way to go Mac.

Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Day 2
Ugh, I am struggling with this lynch. I feel like I should be more confident in one of these people being bad.
Kyle, I think is civ
DDL, has been up front about his role and I see no reason to lynch him right now. I believe his claim atm.
Lunalee, I think is civ
Sprityo, I'm unsure, his reaction seemed very real. But mafia can get upset too.
Colin, in looking over his ISO I found somethings that seemed good (the way the back and forth with Golden ended for instance) and somethings that didn't make sense to me (He dropped his questioning of Quin's vote when Quin answered "because that's where I put it." ??? Why didn't he push more?)
Jack, I have felt he is playing fast and loose, it doesn't strike me as particularly baddie approach, but I don't know Jack well enough. Anyone who has played a lot with him please give an opinion on Jack?
Jay, I will admit to being concerned about Jay tunnelling dunya in Day 1, I have been nervous that they are teammates. MP and I would totally play it that way, going after each other hard from early. That knowledge may be causing this fear. Also he wanted to talk to death the statistics yesterday for the options. I felt like this conversation went on for much longer than needed, distracting from suspicions and he was a chief culprit in this.
Lilefer, new person but hasn't posted since Saturday. If we are going with the idea someone will get mod killed after too long of inactivity, this seems like a prime candidate.
At this point I feel least confident in sprityo, Lilefer, Jack and Jay. But Jay and Jack and are around and contributing. Lilefer and sprityo aren't. I'm hoping sprityo cools down and returns, but there is no indication why Lilefer disappeared. I think I'll toss my vote there.

Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Day 2
I don't like this either Elo. Why are you worried about this? Whether civ or bad, having Kyle's reads is a good thing for the civs. We should always want as many reads as possible from everyone, also he was far from being the only person to give a list of reads during today's lynch.Elohcin wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 6:03 pmI simply don't agree. You being lynched was a realistic possibility (and should have been a concern) as soon as Day began when you were 1/8 instead of like 1/30. Today's lynch situation is unique and I don't feel like your response to it is civ-minded.Kylemii wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 5:25 pmeloh I don't understand your angle here. that post was a collection of my notes that I was making while reading through each player individually and also catching up.Elohcin wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 4:45 pmOkay...so I have been reading a lot. And If I really get my head in this game now, I will have to say that this is the pingiest post of those who are eligible for a vote. Knowing he could be voted off, Kyle writes a post that lists his thoughts on all the other players -a cut and dry, formality-type post rather than really trying to convince us we ought not vote him.
I don't understand the argument that I should have focused on defending myself and convincing people not to vote for me when at the time the only people voting for me were long con who I responded to, and lapluie who hasn't posted anything. my priority for this day phase has been to come to a stronger understanding of the 7 other players on the poll, as that was the intention behind voting that night poll option in the first place, me being lynched wasn't even a realistic concern for me until basically an hour ago.
I'm still working ISO's but I do want to say I'm not feeling great about Kyle getting lynched. I feel unconvinced this is baddie Kyle.

Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Day 2
They get flack if they do it at a point where there is plenty happening in the thread when placing your vote and you have kept up well enough to know about that stuff. I don't like it.Elohcin wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 4:34 pmDaisy is right all around. I had been reading and reading and reading. And I didn't know who to vote for. So I showed the list to Ephraim and asked him who I should vote for. People randomize all the time (or at least used to) without any flack.Spacedaisy wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 11:25 am Her kids are pretty stinking adorable, and very smart so I mean it's not that I would doubt her kids ability to read someone, it's that I'm pretty sure it was a cop out vote.

Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Day 2
For the record we have just under six hours left.
I'm off to ISO Kyle.
linki: I don't know yet, defintely not sprityo and Luna. I'm trying to ISO some of the others at the moment stop asking me questions and it would go faster!

I'll accept that criticism

I don't knoooooooow. I'm really torn. My gut says bad. Mafia are more concerned with self preservation than Civs.

Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Day 2
I will not be voting for sprityo or lunalee. Either this was a super civ observation, or she is on a team with sprityo. If the latter, then if sprityo shows back up and is all super contributor, I would be looking at her as a probable team mate who used the rules to save her teamie. It is a risky move for someone who is on the poll and a valid lynch option though. I am thinking this is civ luna.Lunalee wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 2:51 pmHere's what I'm thinking concerning the sprityo vote. If sprityo doesn't show back up to contribute anything, we can assume he's out of the game, and his alignment won't matter any more. If he does show back up, he can defend himself and we can choose to lynch or not lynch him in better faith.MacDougall wrote: ↑Wed May 16, 2018 11:10 pm12. For that reason, I'm planning to re-evaluate and move my vote, and I recommend the rest of you on the sprityo wagon consider doing the same.

Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Night 1
Yes. I caught what you are explaining when I went back into your ISO. Originally I thought, that's weird that LC said he changed his mind at that point because that's not how I remember him responding. When I went back and looked it over I saw that you changed your mind when he explicitly spelled out what he meant when he said it was booby trapped. I got that bit once I went back to find what originally pinged me and sort out why.Long Con wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 12:34 pm There's a big difference, to me, between Golden being the one who made the Night Poll, and Golden revealing that there were hidden results behind the choices. When I thought Golden had made a face-value poll, it made no difference to my opinion of which choice I wanted to win it.
Like, say there's two t-shirts, and I like the blue one, but T-ShirtCo. company says "Hey cool guy, the red shirt is the best one!" and I say "I like the blue one though" and T-ShirtCo. says "What if I tell youwe made BOTH SHIRTS!" and I'm like "Wow! But I like the blue one!" Then they take the sunglasses off and say "No, but seriously dude, we made the blue one super-itchy. It's the worst." Then I say "Red me up!"
Am I missing the crux of your issue?
My problem that I am trying to decide how I feel about, is this: as a civ why wouldn't you ask yourself, "Would a civ be more likely to say this or a baddie?" Because yeah it would suck if something bad happened to me because I voted for the wrong option, but the bigger question I asked myself when he said that is what it told me about Golden. Put yourself in the place of someone who has a role that can secretly attach things to a poll. Then attach an alignment. As a baddie, that kind of role has more power for your team if it is secret. If it become known it would take only one poll to sort out your likely alignment. Then you have a now useless power and you will likely get lynched. If you are a civ and you did something thinking it was in the best interest of the civs only to realize you've made an error in judging how the other civs would perceive things. I could see trying to stop something that was likely to hurt the civs. You've revealed your power and made it possibly useless, but what good is it if your power ends up hurting your team more than helping it?
That was what motivated my move. Golden looked very civ to me and he seemed desperate to move us off the option and revealed that he wrote the poll. So I moved to the option he voted because I assumed it was the safest option and in the best interest of the civs.
Your first interest in all of this looks like self preservation. You only moved when you suddenly think it's booby trapped, the rest of the consideration doesn't seem to be there.
But I am struggling with whether this is just a difference in approach or the way we think, you know? I frequently have trouble making sense of people who approach things differently than i would, it feels suspicious to me and I am trying to sort if that is what is happening here with you. I couldn't understand why the conversation and debate over the pros and cons of the various options continued after his revelation because of how I looked at it. To me it was like, "Why is this even a discussion, clearly it makes much more sense for a civ Golden to say that than a baddie Golden, so who cares what result we are voting for? I trust he has a reason for not wanting us to vote for it and that the safest option to vote for is the one he is voting for." So I am having a hard time understanding other responses to his revelation in general maybe... I don't know. I'm probably not making sense to anyone but me (and maybe Golden
