The new gig is going ok. It's been an emo roller coaster even 5 days in, but it's different ya know? I'm so tired. My brain is pushed soooo far. I need to be asleep very soon. I have to be back in 8 hours for another 13 hour day - but it feels more rewarding.

It's different when it's your store. I guess? Maybe? like it's different when it's your kid? It's amazing to talk to my staff and see some of them really STEP UP. And hear what they are saying to me. It's amazing to say - this needs done and mostly everyone jumps. It's amazing to look at my potential management staff and see the things we can all achieve together! I'm soooo tired, but I feel like it's rewarding work for the first time in the 4 years I've worked there. So there's that. I've tried very hard to hit the ground running - my boss and his boss are coming to see the store next week - to preview I'm sure - the next wave of evaluations. I know it's all eyes on me time. It's great to see my boys WANT to help me to succeed. I adore them all so much! My kidders

My hubby apparently misses me already - and that's nice too. It's nice to be missed.

I've been there twice and it's still not been enough time to explore everything I want to explore. It's my FAVORITE city tbh.

BDH has never been there. I want to take him there very badly.

So as part of my plan to ninja the hubby's birthday - I was thinking of doing a small brewery tour around phx ending at a suprise party for him at his first wife's (read bff) house. The first wife has more space than our apt and an extra bedroom so we could crash there.

This however is proving more difficult than I anticipated. I've checked out 3 breweries so far that we've not yet been to and 2 of them don't open yet.

On the plus side, I've added them to facebook so when they do open, I will have an answer for "where should we go today on our day off?"

I personally don't find this as a bad thing. There are easy and sensible ways to cut your food budget and still eat very well.

Unfortunately quality beer is not so easy to bargain shop and one must have standards.

My beloved only likes watermellon which kinda sucks because I love honeydew and do enjoy a nice canalope from time to time. I just can't justify buying one because I know I'll never eat a whole one before they go bad.

So we had open enrollment for insurance at work. They have us get blood work done and if you pass 3 of the 5 danger areas you get a hella discount on the price of the insurance.

I passed two of them. So fucking close.
The ones (besides being a smoker) I didn't pass - so fucking marginally.

I missed the BMI one by literally .37% (had to show a 5 percent change - mine was 4.62.)
Missed the glucose one by 18 ML.
HDL colesteral? - Needed 50 to pass - I had 42.
