Interesting
These posts of @daisukenowaifuke are just...buggin' me
But Dai is trying to save me, the King. That has to count for something.

It feels like you're tunneling her. You've said she's Scum, would you mind giving me a few short points as to why?
I'll explain to you after the game if I remember and you remember to ask. But yeah, I am indeed questioning her more than others. I will give a small case soon.
After the game? Is it not game-relevant?

I just felt like you are fixated on smth Thunal said that doesn't seem quite scummy to me. You see, it has been going on for 1 and a half phases now.

Mhmm~ I went to ISO you to point out your posts and I found this:

That doesn't sound like a good idea.

The Assassins only have 2 shots, so I am assuming they don't get the regular factional kill like in normal mafia? Which means, the Assassins best bet is to vote out everyone except themselves and their partner to maximum their chances of victory.
But, what is mafia if not nitpicking on something so small, aye?

I will be down to voting: anyone who is not Scotty, Falcon, Thunal, atm.

I had a vague memory of getting sussy vibes from jackofhearts, but when I went to ISO them, I found nothing.

;(( maybe if you all just talked more...
Aren't some folks doing a deliberate "talk less" strategy? Do you want to start targeting low posters?

Just to let you know, I'm a woman.

And I have found the king, he was right in my role PM.

It was actually an inside shitposting joke from a game Juliets and I both played probably close to 15 years ago. I saw Juliets in the thread, and knew she'd get a kick out of it.

Thunal33 wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 7:06 pm Hi everyone!

This game is pretty different from mafia. In mafia you want to give a lot of info and in AITP you want to give as little info as possible.

If everyone talks a lot and gives read lists it will be super easy for the assassins to deduce who the king is just by looking at who nobody wants to kill.

But if don't talk and just collectively vote off the first person to get run up with votes each day, the assassins don't have much info to work with and can't make accurate shots. There is no night phase so we have guards to spare and losing a guard isn't a big deal.
Okay so, I believe that this opening is anti-town.

Is it scummy? No. But it's anti-town.

Am I biased? Yes. I joined to play mafia and when I finally randed town I got slapped with "Let's not play mafia."

Do note however, that the strategy she showed was clearly barely related to this game for the following reasons:
1. There is only one scum.
2. Much less players.

Reason number one is a big problem and I'll explain it here simply.
1. There is no group influencing the voting and narrative. Everyone is an individual and so, it's possible to do pure random voting with 1 corruption.
2. For the same reasons, it was impossible to accurately determine scum except for everyone trying to figure it out through a King which is a bad tactic in itself simply because it exposes their King. In truth, in such scenario, town loses more because they are the ones hiding their partner and not otherwise.
3. I have once subbed into a game where only 1 scum was left. It was impossible to determine without looking at previous posts or mech. Or well, you can try psyhological tricks but there's only so much a person can do. In the end, the game ended up on russian roullete until mech confirmed towns won in POE. It's also why that tactic was the best for those specific linked games. The only real info to be found is for scum.

This game, although at first glance is the same, is actually pretty much another setup altogether just with addition of one more scum.
Thunal33 wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 7:08 pm And that means if you are voted, just accept it instead of trying to defend yourself or convincing anyone not to vote you. Don't try to start a counterwagon for self pres either.
I take this post very seriously simply because it gives off "I don't know King" vibes. Because if you knew the King you'd also know that others know the King and as such, it's impossible to vote him out. King may very well be invincible here. This post alone deserves serious consideration on getting voted out.
Thunal33 wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2025 11:50 am
No hard feelings, this isn’t the first time people have disagreed with the way I play and it’s not the first time people have scumread me for it. In response to one of your questions no, I’m not mafia.

And I’m actually trying to figure out the answers to some of your earlier questions because while my strategy is a good idea for 6 player AITP I kind of want to see how it translates to 13 player AITP and if it’s any different.
There was a simple and many would consider dum question I proposed at the start. "Are you mafia?"

"What kind of question is that? Of course she's not gonna say yes!"
"This questions is weird."
"this player is dum"

I expected just about everybody to have those kinds of reactions. Everybody but the person receiving the question.

You see, there are two types of liars. People who lie and people who try not to lie.
For people who outright lie and a majority of people on this small planet, this question is a waste of time.
For a small minority that is bad at lying or is explicitely overly aware of it and tries being as truthful as possible, this question is perfect.

Why? Because they will do anything but answer. Those types of people will ask a question back, ignore it, or answer in a manner that is not straightforward.

What happened here was an instance of ignoring it. My question disappeared into the sea of messages that she obviously saw as there were posts answering later posts. I received my answer but very late. It made me think of her being the second type of liar. And after looking at her ISO until this point, it really does give me off that vibe. A vibe of a person who is not a direct liar trying to blend in with truth instead of lies.

Am I crazy? Probably. Is it wrong to base a read on this? Maybe. But I am basing my read of something and this is certainly one of those things. You guys should try looking it her postings and see if the 'vibe' matches what I described it to match.
Thunal33 wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 10:06 am I'll also add that being an outed guard isn't that much better than being dead in this setup. If the assassins know not to shoot you, that's one person they can eliminate from their pool for the rest of the game. I think it's a little better than being dead because you can still help town with your vote and the assassins can still tinfoil you, but it sure isn't good.
I don't think that any guard would worry about that. This game relies on POE mainly from what I have figured, or even if it doesn't that's how I am playing it. Honestly, the more outed guards we have the better for us. I don't find this particulary scummy but I absolutely don't find this towny and that's worth noting down.
Thunal33 wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 10:07 am I started entering my MU turbos with I AM TOWN! because of you.
This is probably just me wearing tinfoil but it does feel a bit like attempt at discrediting. It would make sense if it's a cornered wolf afraid of a townie finding others town.

Have you heard of POE?
Yeah and it's like the assassins are making a PoE of who's the king. They start with everyone and narrow it down based on how people interact with each other.
Same kinda vibe, feels a bit afraid of POE. This read honestly makes sense if we assume that some town are going to mess up hiding our King but uhh, I am playing with mindset that it's cool as long as I am not at fault.

Sir, I want an answer not a question. I did read it.
Then at the risk of redundancy, for which folks are often downsized, I AM TOWN!
I started entering my MU turbos with I AM TOWN! because of you.
Okay, this is interesting, elaborate
I get miskilled a lot in them and wanted to sound towny. :p
Are you saying that you have a trust tell? That kinda uhh, uncomfortable to deal with as either alignment as it just breaks the spirit of the game. And what does that have to do with the other person?
No, I can do it as mafia too. Falcon is known for saying I AM TOWN every game so I took his idea.
Okay so guys, hear me out and don't choke me for this please. Is it far reaching if I consider the bolded part as scummy? It's not "I do it as mafia" but "I can do it as mafia" which gives off the TMI of "I am not mafia and didn't do it but I can do it as mafia". I know a distinct player that made reads based on such simple and unharmful phrasing and his reads are incredible. So yeah, I believe that this holds merit to some degree. The difference being that he is a long time player and I am a newbie hahah

Oh, IC. Why didn't you mention that before but only now?
He's entered with I AM TOWN! every game (regardless of alignment) for a long time so I forgot not everyone knew he did.
I am plenty sure that Dai and me indicated multiple times that this is our first encounter with this forum. Did it never cross your mind to warn the newbies of an obvious meta from potential enemy?
It's not something I have to warn people about.
Okay so this is a funny line of questioning from me. To word it nicely. It's dum. The purpose of this, rather than finding out on why she didn't warn us, was to see how she would conduct herself with it.

Because, you see, wolves have TMI. They know they are wolves. And they know they are being questioned by a town.
On the other hand, town doesn't have that and they don't know why an innocent townie like them is being tunneled by unknown alignment.

And that simple TMI is what makes a difference in this line of questioning. To wolf, this questioning makes much more sense than to town? Why? Because it's correct. It's a town questioning a wolf. Of course it makes sense despite the questions being a bit icky! And although her answer isn't particulary wolfy or towny, I find her seriousness in this situation to lean into the TMI side.

Can you give me your best read on that player right now then? As you have meta, I'd love to see you giving that read. Also, feel free to mention any other players you can give a read on.

I know, this contradicts your "I don't want to talk tactic" but you should be aware that thread consensus is against it anyway so might as well cooperate. It's just a focus on one person, be it town or king.
Falcon feels ~fine to me now, don't want to vote there today. I'll probably wait until later in the day to decide my vote or voice any suspicions.
Any particular reason why he is fine?
I like that he's prodding and seems interested in solving the game.

Also no, I'm not familiar with Kr1ss. I play mostly here and on MU.
This is a post she made justifying her read on falcon. Which is fine. However, such simple reasoning isn't something that shouldn't inherently be used to find town and is definitely flawed in the sense that there a particular person doing exactly that but on steroids. Spoiler, it's me. Pretty sure others had similar or higher level of solving and prodding than falcon too.

*************

Exept for all this, no actual reads were made. The game was detached for her and no questioning was actually involved. She was fine with giving reads when asked but never cared to question anyone at all.

Along with the reasons provided above, and the fact that she is obviously not King since I am making a scum case on her so it's not a waste even if she is voted out as scum wouldn't target her anyway, I believe that this is a fine elimination for the day.

As opposed to Thunal, who proposed a different strategy?

Also you’re reading too much into the situation with her and Falcon. Falcon yelling “I’m town!!” Is kind of a running joke, it’s a community in-joke. Which you would not know. So this is an fyi as opposed to a critique.

I hosted Leetic in a very challenging difficult role where he was, realistically, unlikely to win. But he worked the role and won as LMS. So I don’t know that I see him losing interest or ghosting the thread in a challenging and difficult scenario for a baddie. But I could also see him taking a low key position to observe as a baddie.

I’m waffled. But you don’t seem to be; other than strategy preferences, why is he on your town list?

Also not voting Thunal any time soon. I’m not sure how advocating for a thread info blackout benefits a baddie. Baddies die if they take a shot, so yeeting is their best chance, and that’s harder with no info.

Falcon feels ~fine to me now, don't want to vote there today. I'll probably wait until later in the day to decide my vote or voice any suspicions.
This is just taking a safe route that although isn't AI is surely something a wolf that isn't particulary bold would prefer to do.

It's not something I have to warn people about.

I mean, this is basically 11v2 mountainous with mafia not having night kills unless they die and us having a hidden innocent child. Basically, just role and numbers wise, this is heavily town sided as long as town knows what they are doing.

As I've thought more about it:

I think the best way to approach this is to say anybody you're not voting for (as I did above) and feel free to leave the royal highness in or out of your list as you see fit. Say why if you want.

It's also a thing I poo poo on in normal mafia games, but with there being a pair of ne'er-do-wells instead of a single killer, it's not a terrible idea to look for teammate interactions this early on (impossible a task as that is, but them's the breaks). I picked out a few that I didn't think were likely. Tell me why I'm wrong.

More shruggery.

Yes, because, we still need some inkling on who is the better choice in voting. The more towns we lynch, the more information we give wolves. Which is contrary to normal mafia, where it's alright to lose a few towns to get spew.

Not sure I agree on the last sentence in general. But I'd say the biggest concern in this setup is that even if we lynch all the wolves, it doesn't guarantee our win as they still have the shots that can change the outcome.

I had a realization this morning that the basis for initially placing random votes and/or giving as little information as possible is a level 0 hedge against those guards that would have a hard time keeping a secret, like my sister-in-law, who announced loudly at dinner one night with the in laws that my wife and I got a dog. We told you that in CONFIDENCE, Bridget. She ruined the surprise and we’ve never forgotten that because *someone* wanted the attention.

Well, I’m not a Bumbling Burton and am confident I can keep a secret and muddy the waters if need be.

Information is power, but if the court jester has information, what can you trust, really?

:burp:
Yeah that's also why I made sure to post that strategy first thing so people wouldn't just come in making the king really obvious. I'm not quite as strict about not talking as I made it seem like in my first post (and I suspected my strategy wouldn't happen) but I wanted people to be careful about what info they give.

How could a Guard get outed, though? I guess by leading a strong elimination against an Assassin. Probably one or two players could get cleared once that happens, but nothing is rock-solid, right?
For you and @Foxy

By outed guard, I meant outed as not the King. If you are taken out of the pool of people the assassins could shoot, it doesn't matter that much if you're taken out because you're dead or taken out because you were outed as not the King. You're still one fewer person that could be King.

This esp becomes a problem when we have already lost a lot of towns. XYLO is at 5. :ponder: We should try to minimize our mistakes as much as possible.

I'm not going to defend myself but I do like explaining game theory and strategy, so I'll do that and selectively respond to this case. :p

I take this post very seriously simply because it gives off "I don't know King" vibes. Because if you knew the King you'd also know that others know the King and as such, it's impossible to vote him out. King may very well be invincible here. This post alone deserves serious consideration on getting voted out.
The problem with defending yourself a lot is that it outs you as not the King. If you get piled on, make a ton of posts defending yourself, and everyone switched to another wagon then you'd just be outed as not the King because you had all that pressure on you and reacted to it like you thought you were going to die. So I'm actually posting that for guards, not the King.

I don't think that any guard would worry about that. This game relies on POE mainly from what I have figured, or even if it doesn't that's how I am playing it. Honestly, the more outed guards we have the better for us. I don't find this particulary scummy but I absolutely don't find this towny and that's worth noting down.
See my post above, I think you misunderstood me. Being outed as town is fine, being outed as guard but not king is bad.

Well I want to win the game so I want to stop townies that don't know the setup from making it obvious who the King is.
Foxy wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 7:46 pm This is a post she made justifying her read on falcon.

I wasn't exactly fine with giving reads which is why I was so cagey and limited my read on Falcon to just that he wasn't in my voting pool for today. You are also not in my voting pool for today.

I have a hard time not responding to people and have to go against my instinct to talk a lot and respond to every question this game.

We can talk after the game about my mindset. I have reads. I will use them to decide my vote. I just don't see the point in outing them.
