There were elements of Russ's approach that concerned me. I got the impression that he was hedging his bets. That he was dismissing the case against me to cast dispersions against Alien (and to some extent Jay) but pressuring me at the same time with a view to taking an absolute position later when it became more clear what the safe option was.

Alternatively he was just being open minded to all possibilities and the fact that he offered as much as he did should be commended.

I am 50/50 on it I suppose.

Gut take on this viewpoint from Mac:

Mac at this point has already been being pushed on early, and thus already feels like he's in a defensive crouch. The fact that he sees the potential 'good Russ' option here, from that standpoint, seems like it could be a point in his favor? (I also get the impression that where i'm more toward the 'optimist' end of the scale, mac's more toward the 'cynic'. xD)

Also kinda like that he's been offering up opinions at turns, that have nothing to do with suspicion on him, rather than solely focused on defense.

My take on Russ there was more toward thinking it was towny to pursue, within a single post, a case that he disagreed with AND questioning the subject of said case, fwiw. But i think i can see mac's perspective, too.

I don't feel like I am in a very good position to further analyse his alignment based on how he is engaging with me because he is taking an "everything Mac is posting sucks" approach which given that I am a civ I can't help but feel he has to be making up completely. Especially since he, a guy who I suspected in the first place, is the only one who feels this way to this extent.

It doesn't look like I'd expect an authentic DH response to Day 0 bullshit to look.

I, a person with a voiced suspicion of him, just happened to be his first ISO and he evidently believes he has found gold with it. The sheer chances of this are extremely low.

He subsequently has ISO read only one other player, Jay, who he gave a gold sticker to.

MP started off voting for him and moved his vote off with very weird reasoning and now is acting like the idea of a sprityo lynch is pants on head. This reminds me of when MP got himself caught out trying to save a scum teammate in Tree Mafia.

So the question to ask is:

Is sprityo mad that I scum read him and civvie tunnelling me?
Is sprityo a caught Mafia throwing out baseless accusations to discredit me?

I feel like there should be meta on both counts to analyse if anyone is want to do it. I have to head off on my morning commute so I won't be back for an hour or two. Obviously I'm not changing my vote.

The quotes are not exact, obviously. That can bear a bad appearance under the wrong circumstances, and my initial instincts recoiled a bit upon seeing it here. However, it must be stated that Mac was more direct in his initial response to sprityo, and that this extends beyond that — at some point the audience has to be appealed to if a case is going to be promoted.

This looks like the post that started it all: A very innocent comment by sprityo about Mac not being actually green on MP's read list.
Here's why MacDougall dislikes sprityo:
Sprityo has avoided heat in ways he probably shouldn't have I want to see examples of this, because I don't see it in sprit's ISO.
sprityo responds to Mac's suspicions by saying "it was a joke" and "I'm bad at mafia"

Then there's Sprit's blow-up post and Mac's reaction to it. At first glance, it honestly looks like two civvs who don't understand each other.

But I can't help but notice how sprityo is reacting to this whole thing. He swings an attack, then immediately backs down, as if hoping to shut it down before Mac can swing back:

I like Turnip Head for now. He's active and concise. I can keep up with his posts.
Tsaiah is on the "buddy MP" train. But has contributed a good bit for day 0. I'm keeping my eye on him.
Sprityo has come into the thread with nothing but questions about the game, and empty commentary on what's happening. I don't like his look.
Russtifinko is engaging with the thread and actually attempting to scum-hunt. He looking good.

I, a person with a voiced suspicion of him, just happened to be his first ISO and he evidently believes he has found gold with it. The sheer chances of this are extremely low.

He subsequently has ISO read only one other player, Jay, who he gave a gold sticker to.

MP started off voting for him and moved his vote off with very weird reasoning and now is acting like the idea of a sprityo lynch is pants on head. This reminds me of when MP got himself caught out trying to save a scum teammate in Tree Mafia.

So the question to ask is:

Is sprityo mad that I scum read him and civvie tunnelling me?
Is sprityo a caught Mafia throwing out baseless accusations to discredit me?

I feel like there should be meta on both counts to analyse if anyone is want to do it. I have to head off on my morning commute so I won't be back for an hour or two. Obviously I'm not changing my vote.

What does this have to do with anything? I don't get any sense that Mac is evaluating whether sprityo hopped in his ISO and genuinely believes any of it or not, again, just shading him. It bothers me more coupled with the "So the question to ask is" bullshit.

Yeah I'm not sure what the point of that bit was exactly either actually. Walk me through why it makes him Mafia rather than just ranting as a Townie in your head though? What tips the scales to it being Mafia?

It's my agenda radar. I smell agenda. It's very easy to believe that scum Mac is taking advantage of the tide of the thread being against sprityo and with him, and sprityo acting in a seemingly scummy manner (a narrative he even tries to paint in that post you'll note), then when we ML sprityo for the MILLIONTH time on D1 and he flips, Mac just shrugs and moves on, and no one's the wiser.

I am not able to play at present, but I note one thing in the recent dialogue I can mention.

I do get at least one bad vibe from Mac’s latest handling of sprityo: it’s all in the third person.

“Look at what sprityo did”

“you should suspect sprityo’s actions because”

“Bring your attention to this abomination from sprityo”

The quotes are not exact, obviously. That can bear a bad appearance under the wrong circumstances, and my initial instincts recoiled a bit upon seeing it here. However, it must be stated that Mac was more direct in his initial response to sprityo, and that this extends beyond that — at some point the audience has to be appealed to if a case is going to be promoted.

Sorry, not quite following, so you think his third person talk is suspicious or no? And if you do why?

In that regard I don't get a civilian/civilian impression from their combat.

The notion should be tempered though, because a notion as broad as "the use of the third-person perspective" as a conclusive hunting method is going to snatch every player in the field -- care should be taken. It's also important that Mac didn't speak in this manner initially in his response to sprityo. I'd have hated things considerably more if that didn't exist prior to the third-person diatribe.
