Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Night 0]
Okay, let’s do this! The secret portion of my role card says that I am the champion of this game. Sorry to cut this game so short, especially after all that time waiting through sign-ups, but I win. You can go home now.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Night 0]
Of the options presented in the poll, I have to go with vanilla. Sure, it's ‘plain’ but it is also the most versatile flavor there is, even more so than chocolate. You can pair it with many other flavors (Neapolitan anyone?) and it’s the perfect base for just about any additional ingredient.
As for this game, I will keep up as best I can. That means that I will read back a page or two at the most when playing catch-up. I drag my feet too often doing full re-reads and I want to play more in the moment this time.
In other words, real life is very busy and my wife doesn’t know that I am playing.

Orange, [mention]JaggedJimmyJay[/mention]? I make three posts, and that’s enough to land me in orange instead of neutral gray?
In a way, I guess I see it, what with the diarrhea-of-the-mouth-inducing playstyle you and others prefer. You have offended me, sir, and now I intend to bury myself in the deepest red of your rainbow reads so that I may ignore your demands for more content.

Oh, I saw the post, but I didn’t react because there wasn’t much for me to react to in your first post. You said you might ask me a direct question. I did not, however, see your other post until I checked out your ISO to see what I missed.S~V~S wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 7:24 amHi GG-Man wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 12:31 am Orange, @ JaggedJimmyJay? Earlier, when explaining a question I had asked Jules, I also said I would probably ask you a direct question, too.
Now, I know that I am a person you want to sort out ASAP, cause you have told me so. You pretty much always make a remark about how I said or did something you found shady. But the fact that you have not, and that you did not remark on my comment about you hiding from G Woman makes me think you have not read my posts. This would alarm me more in a game with one baddie team than a game with one, but I still find it eyebrow raising. Not becasue I am such a narcissist that I think it a requirement that people read my posts, but becasue I know our dynamic.
Do you have any reads at all?
I am going to work, I may be able to get back on now and then before 3PM eastern, I may not. xoxo all
My not so great content isn’t by design (except for needling Jay a little last night). My content won’t be that great for a while, because this game is information overload for what little time I have to commit to it. Anything over 15 players starts to melt my brain, and yet I keep getting sucked into these from time to time.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 1]
Optimism would suggest that 1,200 posts by the halfway point of Day 1 means that we’ve stumbled upon some groundbreaking, decisive conclusions.
But I’m a realist.
Can anyone point me to the post on or about where the MR & nutella trains became the most compelling things going? If so, I promise to skim through tomorrow at lunch to see if I’m on board with either one.

Sorry folks, but I don’t have time for a game that spews posts this rapidly. I’m not one to quit a game either though, so you’ll just have to reconcile that in your mind for now.
I should be able to set aside 30-45 minutes tonight before the deadline, but I can’t even fake attempting interest in catching up. I’ll observe EoD and vote accordingly.

Ouch. While not an incorrect assessment of my civvie sleuthing skills when I don’t have info gathering powers, as a Miami Dolphins fan, that comparison cuts deep.Turnip Head wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 11:42 pmHes one of those civs who won't lose you the game but he may not win it for you either. He's the Ryan tannehil of civilians
Anyway, let’s talk about the roles, shall we? I see two roles that can ‘send orders’ to a civ. One is a civ role but the other is a baddie. On the one hand, there is potential for civs to become known to another civ. On the other hand, complying risks letting a baddie hijack your power.
Has anyone played with this kind of role mirrored in this way before? My gut says complying should probably be done based on how powerful a player thinks their role is. Thoughts?

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 2]
Oompa loompa posting was started because it fit the larger, long-term gimmick that I've been engaged in for a few years. It hasn't limited my content, because I really am busy in RL and have little ability to keep up with all the post-spewing that is taking place. If I'm going to be all but drowning in posts, I'm going to have a little fun before you folks turn on me.
A long time ago, I thought that I might spend a whole game writing oompa loompa-style posts when I reached this point, but I forgot about it until partway through Day 1. I'm glad that I did not remember to go that route, because it lost it's cheekiness after the first 24 hours of Day 2. Epi is right that the first two lines are easy, but getting the cadence and syllable count right the rest of the way through wasn't as fun as I thought it would be. Challenging and rewarding from a communication standpoint? Yes. Fun? No.
Allow me to recap my posts for you:
#1
"Hey that was a cool lynch event. Don't lynch me.
"I'm busy and don't have time to read everything you folks are typing. (Good grief- I mean, I realize that the mafia culture is changing here, but 2500 posts before the Day 2 lynch is over? That's just not healthy or necessary to me.) I'm busy, but I'm not quitting because LC, BR, and I go back over a decade; I love these people and I don't tap out in general.
"Lynching Dyslexicon is the way to go. I think Dys will flip baddie."
#2
"On second thought, advocating a Dys lynch was a hasty call.
"I made an assumption and I think that's going to come back to bite me. I'm still open to lynching Dyslexicon from an informational and interpretational standpoint. It's only Day 2, so we can afford to be wrong here, as long as we learn something from it.
"Some of the suspicion on me seems weak and fits a pattern that I have exploited to lynch baddies in the past."
#3
"I can explain what I meant about needling Jay with these two posts in context.
"I was being a brat. That should be obvious. Have we really resorted to such a black-or-white form of this game that I get a scum-lean after just a few posts? Hell yeah I'm going to make fun of that nonsense.
"Unless Jay was just fishing, but I doubt me mocking him made much of an impression.
"Getting scum reads with two baddie teams in play is tricky. It's easier for baddies to blend in when they are legit hunting for the other baddie team. It's been a while since I've played a game with two baddie teams. I don't remember how I reconciled with that last time."
#4
"I can't put my finger on too much just yet. (I've been skimming through the posts in order to tread water) Here are some folks who seem off for some reason. (You'll notice that the names listed are people that I have a fairly developed history of playing with. That's a bias that I fall into every game. I struggle to read new and new-to-me players, as well as folks that I do not have extensive experience playing with. There's a LOT of that in this game.)
"Jay always posts a lot, which is normal for him, but early on his posts didn't feel like standard-issue-Jay. There was an edge to them that I don't recall. (Bear in mind that this might be only the third game I've played in just over a year.) He didn't seem to be pushing for content for the sake of pushing for content to be evaluated. He seemed to be pushing for content with a direction in mind already. Sorry, that's lame and vibey, but there it is. Sloonei seems the most guilty of name-dropping me as a suspicious character in the same way that I have busted S~V~S and Golden the Coward before, much to their surprise. (Why exactly am I so suspicious? This notion that I produce good content isn't false, but people are either forgetting or choosing not to remember that civ G-Man takes an average of three days to get up to speed. The fact that I play so seldom anymore may contribute to this forgetfulness, but I am always watchful for a BS set-up. Spotting it and calling it out has yet to blow up in my face. So far this game, Sloonei is the most guilty of this line of accusation against me.) I always have an automatic distrust of Dom and S~V~S. It comes from seeing both of those crafty FEB's in action over the last 10+ years. (I have been baddie teammates with S~V~S a few times, so I know what she is capable of, just as she knows what I am capable of. Though, she should remember that I am guilty of being a try-hard more often when I am a baddie. Some habits die hard. Dom either fleeced me or nearly fleeced me a game or two ago, so that wound is still fresh in my mind.)
"I need to go back and read through the poll leaders. (This was Mac and Radish at the time. I never circled back to that. Shocker, I know!)
"I've been keeping up better on Day 2. My plan is to try to get a feel for whose posts coming off of the Day 1 and Night 1 information seem filmsiest before I sputter out. (Spoiler alert: I sputtered out at some point last night.)"
#5
(This is a lot of the same of what I posted for #4. Sloonei looks like the worst offender on this front, but I have seen S~V~S and Juliets do a little G-Man-dangling as well. If anyone, I would expect S~V~S to tread lightly with this, as I caught her doing it once before. Beyond that, I don't civ read her. In the past, she has been pushier for content when civvie, and an over-explainer when she's bad. She's struck a balance of each so far that leaves me wondering. I don't recall ever playing against baddie juliets, but name-dropping me over nothing is irritating. I can respect being suspected for worthwhile concerns, but this does not fit the bill.)

Okay, I don’t trust Sloonei, so I can’t vote for Radish. I’m not crazy enough to vote for myself (yet). That leaves TH. I don’t have a handle on the case for lynching him, so care to share? There’s too much post-vomit to sift through and I’ve got ironing to do.MacDougall wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 8:18 pm Okay so the fact that I have had 6 unmoved votes on me for the past 2 hours approaching deadline is a pretty solid indication that both scum teams are on my wagon imo.
The fact that Jack/TH/G-Man and Radishes wagons have all had no momentum strongly indicates at least 1, probably more of them are solid wagons.
I am not letting you lynch me today. So figure out where to put your vote that isn't me. This ain't happening.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Night 2]
Okay, if we’re going to wander down this cocksure ‘G-Man is totes bad’ road to disappointment, then I request that:
1) Someone kill me tonight.
2) Lynch me Day 3.
I’m overwhelmed by the sheer volume of posts. The only reads I have are on players that I think I know well enough, which comes to about seven or eight people. That’s not enough to do the town any good. I’m going to continue to be of little use to the civvies, because all I can muster at this rate is skimming at best. Even that involves skipping large chunks of posts that are about people I’m clueless of.
I admit to being overwhelmed and yet I refuse to sub out. With this much suspicion brewing around me, it’s not fair to ask someone else to come in and wait to die. So that’s not happening. Lynch me and use my lynch for information. We just caught a baddie on Day 2. That gives us a chance to calm down, make a mistake, and be thoughtful and intentional about learning something from it.
As much as I love our hosts, I recognized too late that joining this game was a mistake. There are too many players with too similar personalities making too many posts. Too many of you just blend together in my head. That’s not just this game though- it every game that’s not a Heist. Heck, sometimes even Heists are too much for me. That’s why you don’t see a ‘Best Civ’ or ‘MVP’ Socky in my treasure chest and never will.
After this game, I’m sticking to Heists and hosting. I’m excited about the next game I plan to host. Perhaps that’s where my strengths are. They’re certainly not here.
I don’t want to fight. I don’t want to insult people in the process of trying to convince you I am civ. Let my death convince you of that. If you see me, I’m not lurking; I’m just trying to tread water as best I can.
Thank you and good night.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Night 2]
Oof, man. I can’t say when I last tried vote analysis with two baddie teams. It’s much easier and more effective when you can look at things in an either-or manner like when there’s just one team. Two teams muddies the waters. Also, I’ve always felt that my style of vote analysis works best after three days. I’ve gotten lucky after two before, but, again, that was with just one baddie team.Sloonei wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 10:19 pmWhat about vote analysis? I’m not following the team compatibility here, and I need to try to go back and find some of it. Is it being suggested that when it was Mac vs Radish that it was trains on two people from the same team?

Opposing teams because Saitama’s team killed on even nights. I see it now. In that case, lynching someone on the even-night team today would make for some interesting analysis of Day 2. Shucking and jiving on both sides could expose at least one more on each team if we’re lucky.

Or in a game with this much potential for cross-kills and vig action, they figured to use it early on principle so as to not let it go to waste. I see how it fits the proposed Mac scenario though. It feels a little tidy, but that’ll happen when the jig is up.nutella wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 9:57 pmBasically saitama has a one time janitor (hides flip) which was clearly used on dizzy (otherwise default is roles flip, i know yours not used to that). Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 3]
Oh S~V~S- your last post clarified something for me. Thank you. I have been wondering what ATE meant, as people have been using that acronym in respect to my big post.
But it wasn’t an appeal to emotion in order to take heat off of me. It was just me being honest with you all. I’m still skimming and skipping around to keep pace. I’m fine with being lynched if you all still think I’m shady. If you choose to go elsewhere, just know that my outlook and availability isn’t going to change.
I would hate myself for trying to use a post like that for emotional manipulation. When I’m bad, I’m chaotic evil. When I’m good, I’m more like chaotic neutral. I’m really more like Caesar Romero’s Joker than Heath Ledger’s.

Oh I had it in mind when I made that big post to use stronger words about the topic, because I thought that I was being indirectly accused of lurking by one or two people who griped about lurking. It didn’t fit into my post the way I thought it would, so I pocketed the distinction. Overreacting G-Man would pounce on the ‘ted is scum and using G-Man as an easy target’ line, but overreacting G-Man isn’t here right now Mrs. Torrence. I’m not familiar enough with ted’s content this game to read into it very far.S~V~S wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 7:08 am It seems I am very rusty, looking at my earlier GTH list, after reading last nights conversation, it sucks lolol.
I will redo one tonight, maybe doing in thread GTH reads might be a good exercise if lots of us are here?
@G-Man what are your thoughts on sig and Mac, and TSP and ted if you have caught up to last nights discussion?
I have no opinion on TSP for similar reasons.
Regarding sig and Mac, it seems like people think they’re on opposite teams. The Mac train and Mac’s reactions to it are making me weary due to how long it’s been going on. I’m leaning pretty hard on the work of others when it comes to taking a stand on sig. Dyslexicon feels like sig is bad, and that’s good enough for me I think. But what does sig flipping civ tell us about anyone else? Similarly, what does Mac flipping baddie tell us about anyone else?
Also, are we assuming Mac is on the full team or the team with only two members left? I see references to Team A and Team B, bit help me start to wrap my brain around it. Which team do we think Mac is on and which team do we think sig is on? Sorry if this is out there already. Skimming is a bugger.
I’ll change my vote to Mac to keep things closer for now. I won’t likely be around much after 5:30 est.
