RED vs. BLUE
A political satire Heist for 15 players

GAMEPLAY
1) Day periods last 24 hours. Night periods last 24 hours. The game thread is open for discussion at all times.
2) Day 0 will last 48 hours.
3) All game conversation must take place in the thread unless you have BTSC.
4) All votes must be cast in the poll to count. Your host would also appreciate you declaring your vote in the thread.
5) All votes are changeable. You may change your vote as many times as you wish up until the vote's deadline.
6) Civilians win if they have eliminated the Mafia. Mafia win if they have outnumbered the Civilians. Wincons are dead or alive but the host reserves the right to deny winner's status upon a winning player who fails to pull their own weight.
7) Dead is dead; you don't get to come back from that. Dead players will have their BTSC right removed.
8) Roles will be revealed upon death.
9) All players get to vote via PM for game MVP at the end of the game.
10) This game is closed setup.

RULES
1)Respect your fellow players, your host, and your MOD.
1a) Don't be an asshat.
1b) Don't get butthurt.
2) If youfeel like another player is out of line or making/taking things personally, contact the MOD.
3) No BTSC regarding the game outside of the game thread(s). Players are told in their rolecard if they have BTSC. If you don't have it, don't engage in it. Violating this rule will result in a modkill.
4) No editing or deleting posts.
5) Self-voting is permitted.
6) Double-targeting is not allowed.
7) Info-dumping and/or role-claiming may only be done once per player during the course of the game. You must contact the host with what specific information you want your info-dump/role-claim memo to include and a memo will be written up and posted in the game thread by the host at his earliest convenience.
8) Off-topic posts should be in OT Green.
9) Dead players are to post in Dead Red.
10) Non-Players should post in Non-Player Blue. We'll have a spectator chat if you're really interested in game details.
11) This is the host's color. Do not post in this color.

Other rules may be added as necessary. I haven't hosted a game in about five years, so please bear with me.

Yes, if it starts after the 17th.

I can't wait for some reasonable discussions and thoughtful political discourse.

Ah, who am I kidding, I just hope this doesn't wipe out the entire site.

7) Info-dumping and/or role-claiming may only be done once per player during the course of the game. You must contact the host with what specific information you want your info-dump/role-claim memo to include and a memo will be written up and posted in the game thread by the host at his earliest convenience.
this is a mighty interesting bit. Won't this "memo" be essentially giving away info? Like, i thought the whole killa dilla part of info dumping was that it could be refuted. Is that still a thing? Like if I were to be like, "I'm actually Ron Paul!" would you draft a memo detailing: "Scotty claims he is Ron Paul!"?

Also, if there is a cop, could he claim in day 3 and be like "INH is bad, Scotty is good, GMan is in the green party" and that be included in the same "memo'?

It was an idea I had. Campaigns and large staff usually release information via a memo. I thought it might be neat to put a restriction on info-dumping and false-claiming, having just been through the wringer with both in Rico's game. Memo's are the way players would info-dump. The catch is that you can only do it once all game. Do you dump info as soon as you get it or tempt fate by trying to collect more and hope you don't get killed before you can submit a memo?

In other word, to use the last game as an example, Wilgy wouldn't be able to claim he was the jailer, rescind, reclaim, rescind, claim another role entirely, rescind, and finally settle on his actual roleclaim. Once you claim, that's it. You own it and you deal with the consequences. Everyone can submit a memo, so memos won't be gospel truth.

Is it too complicated/reinventing the wheel? If enough people think it's too clunky, I'll scrap it and make info-dumps and role-claims 100% fair game all the way through.

Holy cow! A few hours and we're almost halfway full? You guys are crazy. Or is this how it goes with Heists? Initial surge only to wait a week or more to finish up?

Anyway, I should let you know that this game may have odd hours. I may have days and nights wrap early to mid-afternoon (EST). It's not ideal for some but it'll keep me out of trouble with the wife. :nicenod:

Third parties will have a significant presence in my 2016 Election Season game (full-size). That reminds me that I need to follow up with my prospective co-host for that one.

TRUMP ON THE STUMP

"We're going to win. We're going to win big. It's going to be yuuuge. Believe me," Donald Trump declared. A crowd of thousands cheered as his comb-over undulated in the breeze.

"You wanna know how I know we're going to win big?" He paused and waited for his most fervent supporters to throw out an obligatory cry of 'How?' "I know we're going to win big because I am a winner. Winning is what I do. Just ask my wife. Hell, just look at my wife! You think any old loser or some politically correct establishment politician can land a piece like that? I don't think so."

The crowd erupted with cheers and laughter, overlooking the objectification of his wife. For all they knew, she was used to it by now because she had been a model at one point. Isn't that what you sign up for in that gig anyway?

"So they say I'm trailing Hillary in the polls," Donald continued. The crowd booed. "I say, so what?" More cheering that became a duel between chants of 'We love Trump' and 'USA.'

"You know how these polls work? They call a few hundred people on landline phones. Landline phones. Really? I mean, who even uses a landline phone any more? Even the pimps and food stamp baby mamas have their Obama-phones." Like the servile puppies Ted Cruz refused to be a part of, the crowd cheered with every sentence. Donald smirked and gestured his way through it all.

"Landline pho- who the hell uses a landline phone any more? They're probably reaching people living in nursing homes, liberal college dorm rooms, and people who aren't smart enough to figure out how to cancel their landline phone. These are the people they're reaching. Does that sound like a good way to gather accurate information to you?" A chorus of 'NO!' echoed around the stadium.

"I've been all across this country, meeting the everyday people who matter most- people like you." Thunderous applause greeted his flattery. He smirked, nodded, and waited for the cacophony to die down. "People like you know what it's like trying to survive in this Obama-Clinton economy." Another round of boos. "People like you know how hard it's going to be to make your children's lives better than your own. People like you remember what it was like when America was great, when we still won." A turbulent mix of angry agreement and applause for this man's willingness to tell the truth rolled through the stands.

"America can and will be great again." The loudest cheering yet burst forth, as if on cue. "We're going to be so great, it'll make Obama and Hillary's heads spin. When all these little social justice warriors see how much we've won and how great we've become after my first four years, I wouldn't be surprised- mark my words- they'll switch parties." The crowd was nearly tearing itself apart with jubilation now.

"Believe me, it's possible. But in order for America to win again, we've got to show all these pollsters and political hacks that they are wrong. So get out and vote in November, folks. It's important! If you put me in the White House, I will get the job done for America once again." He raised his hands in the air. "I'll put these hands- these very large hands, believe me, no Little Marco hands here- these hands are gonna work and fight for the American people in ways these pansy Democrats can't even imagine!" Had this been an Obama rally, surely someone would have passed out with rapture by now.

"Thank you everybody. God bless you and God bless America. Let's make America great again!"

Donald Trump walked off the stage as bombastic rock music played on the loudspeakers. Did they ask the artist's permission to play the song? No but they payed the publisher for the right to play it, so screw those aging liberal rock and roll has-beens. The usual line of high-fives and pats on the back ushered him from backstage to the limo about to make a bee-line for the airport. As he sat on the leather seats, drinking in the ego-boosting atmosphere, his mind paused for a split second. For just a moment something interrupted his smug demeanor. Was it a flicker of doubt? Was he finally tiring of the whole dog and pony show?

Like a true businessman, he put it in the back of his mind to mull over later. There was too much fun to be had yet tonight.

Hate to bow out on you, G-Man, especially since you're one of the best hosts I've ever played a game under and this theme is amazing, but clearly I lack the proper judgment to be able to discern that this game really stresses me out when I already am prone to stressful situations, and the PhD workload right now is unreal. Going to continue my break for now after all, sorry.

And the Heist format should be most doable even amid an increasingly busy schedule.

Since we're 2/3 full, here's another teaser post.

DAMAGE CONTROL

Debbie Wasserman Schultz walked nervously to the conference room. She looked up and down the hallway as she reached the door. No witnesses. Good. She locked the conference room door from the inside and hustled over to a kitchenette off the side of the room. After closing that door, she pulled a tablet out of her attaché and propped it up. While the video conference software connected, she put on a Bluetooth headset.

A stern looking man appeared on her screen. His otherwise effete features seemed to disappear as he greeted Debbie's arrival with a scowl.

"I'll keep this brief," the man said. "By now you must know that she is quite displeased with last week's developments."

"Sidney," Debbie interjected, "I can assure you that we had no knowledge that the apology was coming. Trump initiated that on his own."

"The apology is not a threat," the man scoffed. "The media is handling it just as we directed them to. Just make sure that no further acts of contrition see the light of day."

"Yes sir."

"What bothers her most is the departure of Manafort. Why did it happen so soon?"

"It was a calculated risk to compound negative attention and further the appearance of a campaign implosion, which we-"

"Have you learned nothing from the current administration?" the man fumed. "Never let a good crisis go to waste."

"We didn't think that his resignation was wasteful."

"Well you thought wrong. The longer a questionable situation drags out, the worse it looks for Trump. That has been our guiding principle all along."

"Continuing to drag out Manafort's questionable financial dealings seemed dangerous because it parallels the Foundation's questionable financial dealings. We didn't want any tit for tat."

"Perhaps then," the man said, "it's time you start running your ideas by me before acting on them. There are enough apparatuses in place to indefinitely delay any investigation into the Foundation. You should know that. You panicked and you made a misstep. Now we have to replace Manafort, which will be delicate at this stage."

"Are you sure he needs to be replaced? Our other operatives are still-"

"Manafort was at the top. He had Trump's ear. That is irreplaceable but we must do what we can. We need as many operatives in his inner circle as possible. Clarity of thought cannot be a quality of his campaign."

"I understand," Debbie said.

"You better. You're on thin ice as it is. You mishandled 2008 and the DNC hack made the Party look like idiots. You've got two strikes against you. Pray you don't get a third. I'm getting too old to clean up another Vince Foster type incident."

"Yes, sir," Debbie said, swallowing hard with fear. "Who is the new operative?"

"That's already taken care of. Manafort has already done prep work."

"So Trump has no idea then?"

"No," the man smiled. "That pompous buffoon doesn't have a clue. Manafort's resignation was clean, I'll give you that. No suspicions and no surveillance. It's been a nice and easy segue."

"Then we're finished here?"

"Yes," the man replied. "Tonight you will receive the latest briefings from our operatives. If you have any questions or any new bright ideas, contact me first or else."

"Yes sir," Debbie said as the transmission ended. She covered her face with her hands and sighed. Seventy-seven more days and this would all be over.

Targeting the same player with a night action on consecutive nights.

Double posting is fine. If the game is too slow I reserve the right to octouple-post. :noble:

And no worries about the slank cover, I'm usually a pretty active player but I'm in the midst of PhD hell right now (my busiest time ever) so I'm bound to play an uncharacteristically low poster game.
