"This is a very different cookie than in Watchmen mafia, which I will have to keep an eye on."

How is Cookie very different?
Tonally. She seems much more engaged in this game, my experience with her in Watchmen was basically "Hey, Cookie, could you please play?"
It was her very first game here. That alone is enough to make her tone different. It's not enough to excuse the fact that she is uncomfortable being Mafia and confident being civilian. Her words.

But since you say Cookie seems "much more engaged" here, I will give you Cookie's first five posts in Watchmen to compare to Cookie's first five posts here. Any interested person could see the whole picture here and here, respectively.

Watchmen:
Cookie wrote:Like G-Man, I have no idea what the Watchman is about and I have no idea what to investigate. I will wait until I get home tonight and maybe someone can make suggestions?

Also, I'm new to this site and have played before but with people who don't scumhunt and rely solely on night results from cops, trackers, etc. So I'm excited for a more challenging game. :)
Cookie wrote:After catching up on the thread, I have a few small things to say:

1) I'm new to this site so don't think I am a good candidate for policy voting (please), for those of you who support it.
2) I've never heard policy voting but I think it's good to identify that problem within mafia games. I've always hated it and having to explain that, in terms of probability, we are more likely to lynch a townie. That being said, I do not support it in any way.
3) I don't think G-Man is suspicious. Having said that, I barely remember who posted what because everyone is new to me. It's easier if I knew people and can put a personality to the post, so when I get to know everyone a bit more, I will be able to scumhunt more efficiently.
4) How do I vote not to lynch someone? On the site I use, we vote "no lynch." Is there an alternative name for it here or do I just not vote?
Cookie wrote:
Golden wrote:Cookie, there is usually no 'no lynch' option here, and missing the vote isn't usually considered an option (see the rules for epi's view on participation).
Oh, thanks! I mean, I read the rules but there was also lots of mumbo-jumbo that I didn't understand about Watchmen and stuff. I'll reread now. : )

On this site you have to vote for someone because we have the P-Score. It's a way to track and rate players based on participation. If you miss too many votes, your P-Score will be docked and you might not be allowed into a future game if the host of said game requires a higher P-Score than what you have. Someone more acquainted with the P-Scores take over from here because it's still newish to me as well.
Thanks! I didn't understand what P-scores meant until now. I'm guessing it's the line under my avatar that says "Participation Score." Thanks!

Welcome, Cookie!

Why do you not think G-Man is suspicious? Can you elaborate?

Why would you want to vote a "no lynch"?
I don't think G-Man is suspicious because, at this point, I don't suspect anyone's posts to be suspicious. Also, I don't remember who's posted what in the thread because there are so many people to keep track of, therefore, anyone who might have been suspicious would have been more memorable (or their post would have been).

I had been mistaken last night. After I voted for what to investigate, the list of players became available to vote and I saw Epi said we had until midnight to vote so I was panicking that no one else was voting anyone else and so I wanted to vote no one. I didn't want to be responsible for casting the only vote, resulting in a lynch of that person who might have been civ.

DharmaHelper wrote:Totally stoked to start playing this game! I’m pretty sure I’ve played at least one game with most of you, but if I haven’t, hello new guys! My strategy this game is going to be a little fast and loose, but I’m ready to wreck face.

Does anyone have any questions for me? Really nervous since I haven’t even seen a single episode of this show… Anybody know who Brent/Trent are? Killing one of them is gonna be an interesting decision, and I feel like I’d make a better choice if I knew more about them. Every Day 0 Poll is almost always nerve wracking.

Who wants to take bets on the first person to ask if anyone has poll info? At least there are only two options. Seems less likely there would be too much oddness with just two options to go off of.
The one problem I can see us running into pretty early is the lack of activity from some of the newer folks, but I’ll hold off judgement on that until more people start to trickle in or the days start to tick by, whichever comes first. Having inactive players (however intentionally) is only going to hurt the civs as the game goes on; having just won a game based on that, I don’t plan on tolerating it if I can help it. Everyone needs to pitch in.

This post is getting a little long but it’s late so it will probably be my only post of the night, better to make it count. Happy to be playing a full game again! I don’t think I could handle a 24/24 game again so soon after Watchmen. Ready to take my time and read everything carefully. Don’t expect me to fuck around with ISO’s or rainbow lists or whatever though.

Rainbow lists, as (inexplicably) popular as they’ve gotten, piss me off because they are annoying and serve no real legitimate purpose. Others obviously disagree, but I figure I’d best get my thoughts on the matter out early; I won’t hold it against anyone who wants to make one, but I won’t really hold those lists in a high regard either. But that’s probably my stubbornness influencing my game. I don’t adapt well to change. Now before I get too ramble-heavy, I’m gonna bounce outta here; bye guys!
What... I like rainbow lists. It helps me organize other peoples' thoughts in my mind. I'm a visual person so maybe that has to do with my preference. I've never made my own rainbow list (although I've only just learned what they are in Watchmen).
++++

No editing. No commentary in that. Just the first five posts.

Tell me: In which scenario does Cookie seem more engaged?

In which scenario do you find yourself more apt to ask "Hey, Cookie, could you please play?"

DH: What makes you say Cookie seems more engaged here and less engaged in Watchmen?
[/spoiler]
I think the major thing that's different between these two games Cookie is immediately questioned, and in another she isn't. Comfortable/=/ objectively better. I don't know who said it, but i'd say this is a very different cookie from last game. If not civvie, then politician maybe?
Formics sure. ripzfx Now you backtrack from your strongly-worded statement. You're so Silver Golem arr! being bad unexcited pupa.

Lets Start with the Epignosis Voters

1. DharmaHelper (1st Vote, reasoning here) Definitely a civ. Moving on.

2. G-Man (14th vote, no discernible reason. At the time: Epi, Cookie x2, Long Con x2, Scotty, Timmer x2, Sig x2, MP, MM, Mac's Mom)

Conclusions (And Read): G-Man's vote kept Epi in contention at a time when 4 other players had at least two votes. Unfortunate for a number of reasons, not least of which is that because there were so many votes for so many different people, it's difficult to say if G-Man's vote was in particular helping out a teammate. G-Man also gives no reason that I could find for his vote. As a side note, should G-Man continue the 8-Ball gimmick, I will vote to lynch him. It is not so much a gimmick as a restriction, and posting restrictions are what mafia do to civvies to cut down on discussion. Doing it to himself just makes everything more difficult for everyone. Sorry dude, better luck with your next gimmick.
Did Gman ever say specifically why he was playing like that? Would mafia choose such an attention-grabbing technique of playing the game? Did he say he was going to do the 8-ball thing before the game started or after, when he learned of his role?
2. Timmer (9th Vote, Reason given here At the Time: Epi, Cookie, Long Con x2 Scotty, Timmer, Sig x2,

Conclusion (And Read): Timmer is hiding. I don't like how he pushed responsibility for his vote out into the thread. He'd expressed interest in Scotty, and Scotty had a vote when he was about to vote, so that he'd dump onto Cookie, whom he'd never brought up before (I believe, I've been typing this all out for a while, I could be wrong) doesn't sit well with me.
I agree with your analysis of Timmer. I found it strange that he voted for me when all Epi was saying was that I was acting the same. I also find some of the things Timmer says to be.. strange. I will post about it later because I have to go for now, but Timmer will likely get my vote if nothing stronger comes up.

Anyway, I promised I would post my thoughts on Timmer later, but I was just going to do it now. I was reading all of his posts again and they seem less suspicious as when I read them earlier. I don't have much to say on him anymore. I'm still keeping my eye on him though.

Cookie - I've said plenty about Cookie. Not a civilian. No way. I'm thinking Celestial now, though, because she strikes me as someone who isn't sure how to accomplish her goal. DH has defended her. Maybe Cookie is the john and DH is her whore. Fits. Fitting.

Hamburger Boy - Voted Metalmarsh- Metalmarsh lynched. Open and shut case.

Ika - Hope the hangover wasn't too bad and that the wallet isn't too empty. Did not vote. Probably for the best.

Mac's Mom - Crotchety old buzzard. Needs some prunes.

Saberfish - "Noticed some stuff" but couldn't be bothered to state what that stuff is. Asked about ties before voting. :suspish: After the lynch, makes the obvious speculation that S~V~S, Hamburger Boy, or Roxy could be Killface. Voted thirteenth overall for Mac's Mom for a vague reason. Still not sharing what "stuff" was noticed. Voted someone who had no votes when eight others had at least one vote.

Sig - Last visit was the twentieth, so I can assume sig hasn't even opened his role PM.

TinyBubbles - Three posts. The third one includes a blanket defense of low posters. Votes MP because MP is getting married. That's noteworthy, because so is spacedaisy, yet TinyBubbles makes no mention of her. Tenth voter on a new candidate after six others had votes. TinyBubbles still hasn't expressed amazement at being a good guy for the fourth time in a row.

++++

Based on this, I say Saberface is Killfish.

Hello all, sorry about my very late start, I just got home from Boy Scout Camp today with a sprained ankle springing me a day early.
I will read through the thread today and might post a bit, but maybe nothing until tomorrow since i'm beat. If anyone could sum up top suspicions that would be great but I will be reading through either way. Again sorry about not being here for the first phases, and real quick green is the color for off topic yes?

:haha:

People catching my eye for reasons:

Timmer - Same reasoning as I gave before. The substance of his posts hasn't really changed much since my last accusation. He said he's gone for the weekend, but his participation was still weaker than I remember in other games before he left.

Cookie - Posts insubstantially at first, as has been pointed out many times. When criticized/suspected for it, she attempts to post questions, comments, etc. of substance that really look like fluff to me (e.g., "I see G-Man is insanified." Really now?). I didn't get to play much in Watchmen  but I have been following somewhat, and Cookie's tone/substance looks very similar, especially when it actually is compared side by side. I don't know how people are seeing marginally different tones between the games.

Made - His tone and scarcer posting reminds me majorly of DW - more serious, a little more snarky, a lot less playful, and he was a bad, bad baddie.

I will likely vote for one of these lovely players today.

I also dig the idea of a newbie/fairly newbie being on Team Killface due to the NK - not that I don't think Eloh is an awesome player :hugs: but she really isn't ever killed Night 1. It's an unusual choice. But then again, that could make a helluva WIFOM. Just thought of that. I'll keep it all in mind.

Linki - Oh God DH don't call Epi a professor - his ego's big enough as it is!

I agree with this completely. :nicenod:

And for those finding me suspicious for not being around, I'm sorry but I take steps to let the thread know when I won't be around much, I've done this in several games recently. Some I was civ, some I was bad. Considering the crazy lynch we just had, calling me out for not posting much while not actually mentioning the fact that I pretty much dumped my vote yesterday feels like people are just trying to say something without actually touching on any of the game's current interesting topics, i.e. Yesterday's Vote. For those who have mentioned my vote as a reason for eyeing me, you aren't included in this, as I understand. And regarding my vote, there were just too many names being bounced around and I didn't have a bead on any of them, so I essentially let the thread randomize my vote for me. Anyone who says they've never had a Day 1 where they weren't sure of where to put their vote is lyin'. :mafia:

And to be clear again, I'm heading out to UFC now and will be back late tonight. :srsnod:

Writing as I read and justgoing to voice some thoughts,
First few pages just not much, a back and forth between Epi and Mp not sure what to think.
(page 4) hamburger boys second, and third posts, they seem weird, but not to suspicious. Kinda like he wants to post but didn't have anything to say. So he could either be posting just because or trying to avoid suspicion

Page 5 Roxy pinged me, saying he/she? wouldn't vote for new players and would vote against anyone who voted for a new player. I'm all for voting for a new player and I think saying lets not lynch a new player is a good way for mafia members to slip by, they could either be new players or justify not voting for new players who are mafia by saying they don't want to vote for a new person.

Page 7 SVS makes a good point about MP/Epi not sure if it is real or fake, I will need to consider it more and read their defensive's.

Mac's Mom comes this phase and posts alot, but he is only joking with members and posting fillers.

Page 9 Elchin votes for me even though it seems we had a few suspicious people, I don't know if this would ping me as much if this vote wasn't directed at me, but this seems like an easy way to vote day 1 with no consequences, it will most likely not go anywhere and you avoid mislynching if you're mafia. If this bandwagoned then you lynched someone who didn't defend themselves and have a good excuse when they flip civ.

Page 10, Scotty saying I'm a safe lynch, not sure if this is an attempt to bandwagon or not, though I don't like it.

page 11 Mac's Mom voted without providing reasoning correct? This along with the fact that none of his posts have had substance is making me suspicious of him, he has posted so he isn't a no show and have said enough to be present but not so much that people will question him.

Page 12 almost caught up, Cookie voted for me that pings me. Metal flipped Civ, quick question is there a list of who voted for who, on my other sites one is posted with the results however I didn't see any?

Scotty says people voting for me could have snowballed, yet he was a player who said I was a safe lynch, know he didn't vote for me though so he I'm not sure about him, if he was mafia he could have easily voted for me and used that I was MIA as an excuse, so he is looking cleaner.

nothing I can comment on but I will be looking back more later, Mac's Mom again with his posts still nothing of substance.

So Scotty was exploded meaning he was an Xtacles, but who was Elohcin did it not say or did I miss it?
Obviously what I said early about Elochin and Scotty was wrong though I'm still suspicious of the people who voted to lynch me.

I agree with Epi about TinyBubble not saying she is civilian is odd, , so I don't see why if she was clean she wouldn't say she was a civilian. This isn't enough to lynch her but worth noting.

I could vote for Saberfish though I would like to see this stuff that Saber gathered/saw first.

I was playing Ultimate Frisbee for Sports merit badge jumped in the air crashed into someone, fell twisted my ankle and the other person fell on top of it. Thanks :D
