Re: Guess Who? Mafia
Yes, but I went after llama on Day 4 instead, certainly helped along by others. That was obviously a mistake. Apparently I was the only player with information after your lynch though. :P I can take some comfort in that.Dragon D. Luffy wrote:I'm not making fun of you about the shades thing though, you really had no option. Luffy wrote:Also lol at MM having the info to take down Golden but never doing it because timmer was alive.
But yeah, sometimes we have a rough streak in this game. It's okay though, I think you are pretty good at this game.
And it appears I was right this last day phase about the voting. It was as I feared, in that one mafia had already voted Hedgeowl while one had not, putting the game out of reach with nothing I could do. I didn't feel great about Epignosis's case on Hedgeowl, but felt even worse about timmer following his vote. I was almost certain at that point that timmer was on a team with nijuu or Golden, but unfortunately, due to them not voting yet, there was no chance of lynching either of them.
So it was either follow the Hedge vote, or try to lynch timmer.

I was apprehensive all morning yesterday that you weren't buying what I was selling, MM, and that you would persuade others to vote Golden.

Re: Guess Who? Mafia
I'm sure with timmer following your vote, you felt rather relieved at that point. You also grew rather quiet after your case, but I know you like to discourage others from posting too much after voting, so I didn't think much of it. And I happened to be chatting with Elohcin, and she said you were at the store. :PEpignosis wrote:I was apprehensive all morning yesterday that you weren't buying what I was selling, MM, and that you would persuade others to vote Golden.
Elohcin and I were also talking about the logistics of dropping info into the thread, and how far I could take it. As it ends up, I said too much, so she deleted a post of mine. I was kinda glad she did though. I was treading lightly with my posts because I didn't want to break any rules or take it too far (which I did anyway). Not having to worry about that, I was able to be more assertive.

Did you guys factor player avatars into your nightkills, or did you just kill people as you seemed fit?

Night 1, we talked a little about killing based on avatars, but decided that killing whomever we deemed likely to win the question was the better strategy. Ultimately, it pretty much came down to taking out whomever was being the loudest at Night.

Well in that case, I was as surprised as you were that I got a question on Night 3.
In other exciting news, Cincinnati's Todd Frazier won the Home Run Derby last night. A small consolation for what some would call a dissappointing Reds' season.

As mafia, were you informed if you got the most votes to ask a question? Did that have anything to do with your case on Hedgeowl?

Re: Guess Who? Mafia
Back in the day night-hiding was common but I always felt it gave an advantage to the baddies, especially in speed games where there is precious little time to engage in discussion. Too much night discussion can obviously help the baddies too but I was rarely around within an hour of the night post to talk then.Epignosis wrote:Night 1, we talked a little about killing based on avatars, but decided that killing whomever we deemed likely to win the question was the better strategy. Interesting that, in a back-to-basics game, the baddies reverted to the back-to-basics tactic of intimidating civvies into being quiet at night. It also didn't hurt you guys too much that participation was hit or miss from several civvies throughout the game. I hope you guys didn't overthink your strategies and decisions too much because certain civvies made it pretty easy for you to win.

Re: Guess Who? Mafia
LOL, this is true. I don't know how I did it! I knew I wasn't playing any mafia, so she asked me what alignment I thought she was, and I said mafia. Then I just pulled DDL, Golden, and Epi out of the players I knew were in the game, without much thought. She seriously thought someone had told me. I was adamant that no one had.Spacedaisy wrote:I have no clue but you should have seen my reaction when he did. Something along the lines of, "you fucking cheater, who told you?!?" No one did though. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen.
Forthe record Timmer, my timing of my votes were what screwed me but it was due to my work schedule. And my posts on the day I died were all made before I even knew I was dead. So while correct about golden and I being on a team, I intended to cast my vote hoping to live and if I had I would have continued after golden. But I unknowingly missed the vote and was doomed anyway.
Figures that I'm way better when I'm NOT playing the game.

It just occurred to me. Why is Guess Who followed by a question mark? It's not a question, it's an imperative. It should be Guess Who! And your husband is an English teacher.

Re: Guess Who? Mafia
Yeah, participation always impacts games, but I'm not sure, when people are traveling, what can be done about it. If a host limited signups to only those players who were guaranteeing never to miss a single day, they would never fill their games. But yeah, people disappear and depending on which side they are on, it invariably has an impact, tis true.G-Man wrote:Back in the day night-hiding was common but I always felt it gave an advantage to the baddies, especially in speed games where there is precious little time to engage in discussion. When people have abilities, you have to think about who might have them and taking them out. When you know that no-one has any abilities and all your kills will go through, the only thing you need to think about is who you want out.
You and rico were big threats to me because you are analysts and you would have definitely used the question well.

I guess because the original game had it that way. But you are right. Now it makes me want to change the banners, but I will refrain. They took me two hours this morning (Again, Paint.
