In order to get a more complete town consensus, I would like to hear every person's thoughts on what we are up against tonight. If everybody provides an opinion, we may be able to figure it out as a group, and we will also have things to look back on about this and maybe reveal more depending on how people flip when they die.

My opinion - Epi's Cylon role is a pro-human/town/civ role. So I definitely do not think this game is as simple a set up as humans vs Cylons anymore.
I think I can get on board with this. In one of my earlier posts, I referred to Matt's reference to the Cylons of different coloured font (i.e. red/green). It makes sense to me that the Mafia Team are those whose names are in red font in the index irrespective of whether they are Human or Cylon. Likewise, the opposite applies for those characters in the index whose characters are in green font - they represent the Town. I know that's a Mafia team of 12 members and yes, that's way higher than any game I've played before but thinking on it, why not? Frankly the profile pics of all those characters whose names are in red look pretty damn dodgy to me...
We know right off that this proposal is false, and I believe someone mentioned that the colors have changed as things have progressed, but let's run with it for now.

Cavil
Conoy
Biers
O'Neill
Doral
Six
Boomer
Athena

However, these are almost the original positions for the Cylons. Only Boomer is presently different.

Humans

Image

Admiral William Adama – Affectionately called the Old Man of the Fleet, Admiral Adama keeps the human race alive with his hatred for machines, his paranoia, and his cool head under pressure. Adama PMs the host each night with an address to the fleet. Adama is guaranteed not to be one of the final five.

Image

President Laura Roslin – Laura Roslin was Secretary of Education, but became president after the cylon attack on the colonies. Though not religious, Roslin discovers that she fulfils prophecies in the scriptures about a saviour. At three predetermined points in the game, Roslin will receive prophecies that she believes will lead her to the salvation of humanity. Roslin is guaranteed not to be one of the final five.

Image

Kara ‘Starbuck’ Thrace – Starbuck is a hotshot pilot, occupied mostly with taking out more cylons than anyone else. Starbuck tends to get the best of her opponents. She starts with negative two votes on each lynch and will survive her first encounter with cylons, but she cannot be resurrected. No matter how Starbuck dies, her role will be made public upon death. Starbuck is guaranteed not to be one of the final five.

Image

Gaius Baltar – Gaius Baltar is a genius and was one of the pre-eminent scientists in all of the twelve colonies before the attack. He was also inadvertently responsible for enabling the cylons to carry out the attack on the colonies. Baltar has invented a Cylon detector, and with it he can check if someone is a Cylon each night. Baltar is guaranteed not to be one of the final five.

Image

Lee 'Apollo' Adama - Lee is William Adama’s son. Lee is consumed with self-doubt and an inability to feel as though he lives up to his father’s expectations. Lee has a strong desire to do the honourable thing, but he often has difficulty figuring out exactly what that might be. Lee has a choice between two actions each night.

Image

Saul Tigh – Saul is the Galactica’s executive officer. He always tries to do right by the Old Man, but he frequently fracks it up. Every night, Saul sends someone that he suspects to be a cylon to the brig. That person may not talk in the thread or vote in the lynch poll the next day.

Image

Galen Tyrol – Tyrol is the chief mechanic on board Galactica. Periodically, Galactica will come under Cylon attack. As long as Tyrol is alive, he will hold Galactica together and attacks will have no effect. If Tyrol is dead, however, Cylon attacks on Galactica have a chance of causing the death of an occupant on the Galactica, and a small chance of causing the destruction of Galactica and everyone on board.

Image

Karl ‘Helo’ Agathon – Karl ‘Helo’ Agathon – Helo is well known for his bravery, loyalty and honour. It is said of him that he always does the right thing. Each day, Helo will select one player to make immune from the vote. The identity of that player will not be public knowledge, and any votes cast against that person will not count.

Image

Felix Gaeta - Gaeta is trusting and idealistic, and he sees the best in everyone. He is diligent and works hard, and considers it an incredible honour to serve under Admiral Adama. He is also something of a prodigy, but remains humble.

Image

Anastasia 'Dee' Dualla - Dee is the voice people hear on the other end of the line, as she is the one who relays the Admirals orders to the viper pilots as they fight. Her voice brings them home. Once in the game, Dee can PM the host during a night phase and stop any human death during that night. If Dee attempts to use this ability unsuccessfully (that is, she does not prevent any human kill that night), she retains the ability until she uses it successfully.

Image

Cally Henderson - Cally is a young mechanic in Tyrol’s engineer pool. Every night, Cally will search for the chief. If Cally finds him, he will get a nightkill protect. If Cally targets Boomer, she will shoot Boomer and Boomer will die. Cally can only target any given player once in the game.

Image

Sam Anders – Sam is one of the colonies most well known professional athletes, as the star player of Caprica's pyramid team. Sam has a leg up on the competition when it comes to contests, Once in the game Sam may PM the hosts to end a contest and win the prize (he must do this before the contest ends). Once in the game Sam may PM the hosts to get a duplicate of a prize won by another person in a contest (he must do this either before the contest ends or within 12 hours of it ending). Any time a contest involves anonymous submissions where a winner will be judged, Sam may submit two entries.

Image

Lou ‘Kat’ Katraine – Kat is a hotshot viper pilot but she is also a rookie, and Starbuck treats her that way. Kat wants nothing more than to take down more cylons than Starbuck does.

Image

Brendon ‘Hot Dog’ Costanza – Hot Dog is another rookie pilot, who proves quite adept at taking out cylons and staying alive. Any nightkill aimed at Hot Dog will rebound onto a random cylon (excluding any unrevealed members of the final five).

Image

Doc Cottle – Cottle is the best doc in the fleet. Cottle protects one player each night from nightkills.

Image

Billy Keikeya - Billy is President Roslin's aide, and is incredibly loyal to her.

Image

Tom Zarek - Zarek was a terrorist and activist in his younger life, and escaped the destruction of the colonies in a cell on a prison ship. Zarek is primarily motivated by his own political gain.

Image

Ellen Tigh - Ellen is the wife of Saul Tigh, and despite her destructive ways and their broken relationship she still loves him deeply. When she has been drinking, Ellen is prone to fracking up. When Ellen casts her vote, it has a 1/3 chance of actually counting towards her target or the person above or below her target on the poll. Any vote she casts against Saul will not count.

Image

Tory Foster – Tory is a savvy political advisor, who is focussed more on the result than on the ethics of getting there. Once in the game, Tory can PM the host during the day period and determine the identity of the person who will be lynched that day.

Image

Romo Lampkin – Lampkin is one of humanity’s last surviving lawyers. He doesn’t much want to continue his craft on Galactica, but circumstances and a sense of duty see him standing up even for those who most others would think don’t deserve a voice.

Cylons:

Image

John Cavil (number one)

Image

Leoben Conoy (number two)

Image

D’Anna Biers (number three)

Image

Simon O’Neill (number four)

Image

Aaron Doral (number five)

Image

Caprica Six (number six)

Image

Sharon ‘Boomer’ Valerii (number eight)

Image

Sharon ‘Athena’ Agathon (number eight)

Secret role

[secret role] Might be human. Might be cylon. Might be stationed on Galactica. Might not. Who really knows.
So then, according to Glorfindel:

Mafia Cylons:

Conoy
Biers
O'Neill
Six

Civilian Cylons:

Cavil
Doral
Boomer
Athena

Glorfindel isn't O'Neill or Biers. For those concerned that Glorfindel is Six, that cannot be the case, for he would have been labeling his own role as evil (red). The same is true of Conoy. If Glorfindel is a green Cylon, which he speculated were the civilian Cylons, then he is Cavil, Doral, Boomer, or Athena, and he ain't Athena.

So in this scenario, Laura Roslin, Billy Keikeya, and Gaius Baltar head the mafia while Cavil and Doral are actually pro-town.

For anyone who has seen the show, this seems utterly absurd.

I don't want to "blind people with lore," but Golden has tried to be faithful to the show in most aspects of the game, and making a seemingly random smattering of people actually mafia and ignoring everything from the actual show doesn't seem like something he'd do.

Correct, but my purpose in the above exercise was not to highlight any absurdities, but to narrow down precisely which Cylon Glorfindel is.

The fact that he only gives short, to-the-point answers when cornered and badgered to the breaking point speaks volumes to me.
G-Man, see... you've done it again... Still, there's enough in this post that gives me hope that you are not totally lost. I KNOW you think I'm bad and have done practically all game but I want to ask you to do something for me - for the good of the entire Town. You've stated a fact there in your second sentence. I understand completely how you've come to your conclusion (and you're still mistaken) but I challenge you to put aside what you think you know about this game and put yourself in my shoes. I know it's hard, but re-read what I said in my 'I am a Cylon post'. There IS another spin to be out on what you've pointed out there that you're missing. It might sound far fetched but it's the truth. I expect you'll still want to lynch me and I accept that but I've not given up hope that you can't see the truth.
Alright, Glorfindel, enlighten me on something if you would. You admit that you are a Toaster and you claim to be a good one when it seems that the number of theoretical good ones remaining are all but accounted for. You refer to my sentence about you asking about Toaster mechanics early on.

Please answer the following question in one sentence, preferably in 35 words or fewer, and with as few dependent clauses as possible:

Why were you asking about Toaster mechanics in the game thread?
I'm sorry, my friend - that is what I originally asked of you. You will find what you seek in your answer to that question. I would honestly love to answer that for you but I cannot.

OK, I think Polo spelled it out as clearly as possible without pushing any points, and I think it it 100% accurate. For the same reasons I no longer think Wilgy is bad, I do think you are. My vote for you yesterday was predicated more on trusting Silver, But today, this post got you my vote.

I am back from Parades/Garden Party (both soggy) and off to BBQ. Votingnow in case I am not back in time. I have checkedin a few times on phone, but I like phone posting so much better on Droids than iPhones, blurgh, I think I may be the first person ever to go back to Droid.

This is, in fact, an equivocal answer. By Cavil faction I do NOT mean mafia or anything about allegiance at all since, strictly speaking, there is no mafia in this game. The term is never used by Goldama. This is how you are currently trying to deny your role while technically not lying about it. Sure, you're not mafia, because there is no mafia. There are sets of compatible and incompatible win conditions - no civs, scum, town, good or bad.
But there is a Cavil faction, and I would like to ask you, please, for an unequivocal yes or no one-word answer: are you part of the Cavil faction?

But I do not expect to get one. Lord-a-mercy, if Glorf escapes lynching today I'm going to need a large dosage of subscription-strength chill pills.
If there is indeed one Dex (and I am utterly unconvinced at your assertion that there is no 'Mafia team' by whatever name you may choose to call it) NO, I am unequivocally not part of it.

I don't think we should be lynching Glorfindel, I doubt he's mafia and I believe it will be a waste. He probably isn't even two face in this game. :P

\ I find it odd SVS is agreeing with Polo when they're trying to get each other lynched right? Or is it just Polo trying to get SVS lynched?

I'm holding my vote for the time and plan to be back before the deadline, but I'll say this again I don't think Glorfindel is mafia lynching him is a waste of a phase. I'm just not seeing his mafia meta, which is the main reason I'm opposed to lynching him. Unless he has somehow increased his skills as a mafia member by a huge amount since last time he was a baddie I really really doubt he is mafia.

If I'm not mistaken, I think I'm beginning to see a distant glimmer of hope for us...

For those who do not understand my post:

Day 1, Glorfindel proposed that green names were good and red names were bad. His theory.

Cavil, Doral, Boomer, and Athena were green names.

Conoy, Biers, O'Neill, and Six were red names.

Glorfindel is a Cylon, so the question is, which one is he?

He would not be claiming his own role to be evil, so that rules out Conoy and Six.

That means Glorfindel is Cavil, Doral, or Boomer.

Are any of those Cylons good Cylons?

In terms of the show itself - Cavil is Cavil. Doral was part of Cavil's faction during the cylon conflict. Boomer was the only model 8 to side with Cavil. All other 8's were part of the cylon rebellion against Cavil except Athena who was an officer on Galactica.

In terms of the game and making a potentially dangerous attempt to try to guess at secret things only the host knows for 100 percent - I would say the only bit of wiggle room allowed here is if there is somehow more 8 models than Athena and Boomer. Does that help any?

All the lore discussion I've read in this game thread suggests no, unless I misread something. If he still believes his color/alignment theory to be true, then I would say it makes him either at least as misguided as he accuses me of being or a baddie who's been caught red-handed.

I believe I have found a damning nugget from Day 1 against Glorfindel. I don't understand why he would respond to it with optimism. It isn't dependent on "lore" or anything Glorfindel has been criticizing: It's based on his own words and the fact that he is a Cylon.

At this stage, that is where my vote is going.

Right now, I'm leaning independent at worst (on the town-indy-bad spectrum) on Glorfindel, his plead honestly seems to be going deep. Just like Epig, I'd hate to be duped by all this, because it would be one hell of a dupe considering how much effort and word craft Glor has put into it, but I'd almost be willing to assume responsability; Glorfindel would surely never ever find clemency again, at least from me, after such a stunt, if he is indeed bad.

I confess I did not pick up on what he is trying to hint at; it's not that I'm terrible at it (although semi-closed setups make me perform worse in this regard), it's just that it must be way hidden inside his pages of writing and I'd probably need one more point of the pencil in the right direction. I get the idea that mafia might be trying to savor the push of his mislynch, if he is indeed town, but I still find him hesistant or inadequate in being specific about it. I'm really perplexed by his vision that things are not what it seems, that past Cylons who might have been bad may not in fact have been at all, but what more can be said, if that's the viewpoint he likes to drum on. But yeah, all the rest of his plead is sort of making me reconsider his status.

To answer Epig's question, I think with LoRab, Wilgy and Glorfindel all having being "caught" via the Amnesty Act and having claimed good Cylon, it's getting weirdly crowded and serendipitous for all three to be genuine (at least according to, I'd say, the maximum we could admit, via lore, regarding the original Cylon numbers: four bad, four good/rebel ... this doesn't take into account the F5). TBH, Wilgy and Dex, I think, gave me the same bonding impression as Glor and Sig are linked right now. Dex even wrote a big defense of Wilgy which sounded logical. So, urgh.
Thank you for your vote of confidence my friend  I will not let you down.

Or maybe I'm not asking that correctly. Why is his concussion about your potential role incorrect? I think that's the more accurate question.

CONTEST TIME!!!

You all have until the end of the next day phase (Day 8) to submit your idea for a great sci-fi TV show. Guidelines for submissions:

1) Edward James Olmos demands that there are no aliens on the show
2) You need to describe the basic concept and two major characters
3) No more than four moderately sized paragraphs

The winning submission will be awarded a prize.

OK, with five votes against me (including my penalty for disobedience Day 6) I accept that there is next to no chance that I'm going to survive this Day phase. I am satisfied that I have done everything within the bounds of my ability and the rules of this game to fulfill what I believe to be expected of a member of this Town Team. It's been really hard and it guts me to have to accept that I have fought so hard for a group of players that are so confident and stubborn in what they THINK is true that they are unwilling to accept any possibility that the truth lies elsewhere. As I said, I've done everything I could. My lynching this Day phase will put our team (yes, again - Town) at a considerable disadvantage and that is a FACT. I don't expect many (if any of you) to see it unless you are prepared to accept that I have told you the truth and I doubt anywhere near enough of you even have the capacity to do that.

I know I'm wasting my time here but for what it's worth, I'd be lynching Polo, S-V-S, and possibly DrWilgy in whatever order you choose. At this point, I am convinced this game is lost to us and it will take a miracle for us to avoid a Mafia win this game. And when the time comes, I'll be there to say "I told you so".

Thanks for the game guys. Good luck - you're going to need it.

His concussion? The poor thing :(

For the LAST FREAKING TIME... His calculations ARE NOT THE PROBLEM, his assumed beliefs (based on the alignment of characters on this show) ARE THE PROBLEM. If having said that gets me Modkilled, so be it. I just can't understand how a bunch of very intelligent people could be so utterly clueless. My patience with you all is at an end :fist:

I used your own theory to demonstrate that you can only be one of three Cylons. All three of those Cylons are bad news according to everybody. You bizarrely took my accusation against you as good news.

You are also free to label whatever faction you are as "town" since the term isn't used anywhere in the setup, and that relieves you of your need to tell the truth.

so there's this ilsand, okay? and these people all crash on it on like a plane becuase a dude doesnt pressa button and becaue a superpower dude wants to make another superpower dude so they can defeat another superpower dudewho can turn into a smake monster and also dead people and also theres a group of people already living on the island called the others but their whole power structure is really weird so well just ignore that and the entire thing is actually a prequel to what the show is really about: the afterlife which includes vague meansingless quasi-christian symbolism and everybody gets together in a christian church which is weird because the afterlife in this doesnt really have anything to do with christianity and also theres like a muslim dude who should be like woah, why aren't we like in a mosque or some shit but just ignore that and then this one dude's dad opens the doors of the church and the show ends

Glor - I get that you're frustrated but I am trying to understand you. I'm not being willfully ignorant. I'm trying to open my mind and my expectations. I'm trying to balance my knowledge of the show with the actual game. I'm trying to use both pieces of information together to come to the best possible decision in a semi-closed set up with little information.

I am not the biggest fan of in the world of polo's vote and I said as much when he made it. I'm not sure why svs isn't more up in arms about it tbh.

I'm doing the best I can. I'm sorry if I'm missing something so blatantly obvious to. I often do. I earned my name Queen Nub. You note *I* haven't voted yet? You know why? Because I am trying to understand.

lol INH. You left out squirrel baby. :p

I know you are Bea - I'm giving you something that's been denied me (the benefit of the doubt). I've had to be somewhat obscure because I've had to try to operate within the rules but I've tried to explain this a hundred different ways and with the possible exceptions of people like Sig, Ricochet and 3J no one gets it. I don't know how I can be any more explicit. Go back to my "I am a Cylon" post. The evidence is there. How many times do I have to say this - THE BASIS UPON WHICH YOU ARE ASSESSING ALIGNMENT IS FLAWED!!!
