If I'm right about one of Golden the Coward or Sloonei being a big-talking baddie, then the risk of mischopping a town Slooeni today in a choice between me and him is that D4 will just be another round of "G-Man is obvs bad" and productive conversation will die. You'll mischop me and wind up in a D5 mylo. I'd rather be the mischop today and keep productive conversation alive than being the mischop de jure tomorrow that pushes us into mylo.

I can see early game reasons why one might feel that way and have before. I think DH was there in frustration before he subbed out. But I tend to agree wirh you on that point viv.

Vaporizing me instead of Sloonei is the optimal move if Sloonei is town. He's a better player than I am and you will need him until the baddies get around to whacking him. If Sloonei is mafia, then he's obviously the better play, and it could be disruptive to the mafia's hold on the game. My utility to the town is limited and won't likely be enhanced by a mafia Sloonei flip. A town Sloonei flip leaves you with my limited utility and without Sloon's.

I'll think about it, but I'm just not sure it's worth the risk.

I’ve frankly been confused by reactions to my posts throughout this game and don’t feel very compelled to thread sit as we wind down this day phase. I am town, I have done my best to express my thoughts and help the thread progress to where I think it should be going. I was pushed over the edge on Day 1, but I did not fall. Suspicions have stuck with me despite not really developing past their origins. So be it. I am not the whirlwind of pure town energy I once was.

If I go over this time, I have left behind several firm reads, and several weaker ones. G-man is currently my only substantial suspect. I would want to look into Vivax’s handling of me today. I intend to revisit my Quin read if I survive this phase. I still believe he is town, but I owe it to myself to challenge that read.

Michelle should be examined more closely. I would also caution against giving SVS a town read for her contributions today. She entered into this game with honest opinions regardless of her alignment. Press her in the days to come if I’m not here, please. And if I am dead: it’s been lovely to play with all these familiar faces again. Xoxo sloon

@bea Why are you putting your faith in Revolution Mafia instead of the Moderator. One is a 1-shot ability that may have already been spent. The other is a designated tiebreaker.

I don't suspect either G-Man or Sloonei, and I won't be able to read the cases on them before the vote closes, so I will go ahead and move my vote to Michelle, on the grounds that I feel less town about her than anyone else really. As in, nothing has stood out as civ.

Nothing. The point he’s making, as I understand it, is that Town Sloonei is hypothetically a more valuable asset than Town G-man. But that is based on an outdated model of Town Sloonei. I’ve been in semi-retirement for two years.

I don’t think he’s being honest anyway.

“Roadkill is one thing, but scraping a llama off the street. They don’t pay us enough for this.”

“You said it. Where’d they even get these things in the city?”

The two men continued removing thellama73’s carcass from the pavement.

“Better than bats. That’s all I know.”

“Bats? How so? Llamas are huge.”

A gravelly voice came from behind. “So are bats.”

One of the roadkill removal workers found himself flying upward and then suspended from the edge of a building. He was face to face with The Batman.

“Who is killing the civilians in this city?” the caped one demanded.

“I think I left the coffee pot on this morning. That can’t be good.”

“Who? Who?!” Batman demanded.

“I’ve only seen The Rolling Stones once, but I wasn’t that impressed, to be honest.”

“That’s irrelevant!” Batman growled. “Answer my questions!”

“I’d love to know where the idea of croutons came from. I mean, who said, ‘Do you know what this salad needs? Stale bread!’”

“That’s enough,” Batman said, and released the man.

As the guy fell fifteen stories, he screamed, “My mother used to knit the nicest quilts in the county!”

Batman stopped him before he could hit the pavement, but not before the guy could hit G-Man, who was passing by on his way to his job at Vivacious Vixens and Vittles.

Tastes like sadness.

G man was friends.

Friend I liked killing.

But friend none the less.

I shall sing a song of sweet tastes, like that of an old apple tree root molded over.

Random initial thoughts

Major pings for the people who voted/advocates for my lynch when I was cursed and extra eyes for golden trying to nitpick verbiage on me saying cursed.

I’m never going to be super active if I’m cursed since frankly it seems like a waste of time and the majority of people don’t bother to read those posts. It’s just clutter.

So I wrote a giant thing here about how the hosts wouldn’t do that blah blah blah then read this
Golden wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 6:29 pm I'm a dummy.

Srs business:

"Any player who breaks a rule will be insanified the following day"

Bea and DF broke the srs business rule somehow.
SO this makes it even more boggling that Golden would attempt to vote for me and cast shade my way? Like it was pretty clear I wasn’t active jumped in day 3 and was posting. Nobody bothered to call this out for me (especially the people who caught it or were suspecting me should’ve) if anything this actually makes me feel worse about Golden then when I was just reading as I went and thought he was speculating.

And piggybacking on that I’d almost 100% clear Bea and DF for the time being based ONLY off the fact they didn’t vote. I think someone on the mafia team would’ve read that and ensured everyone voted to avoid that.

It seems like he was just trying to find an easy vote/start a counter wagon and that didn’t work so he hopped back into another wagon.

SVS is rewriting my faith in DH slot the main issue I had was the self vote which is why I parked myself their initially.

So this’ll be my Day 2 catch up post I’m mainly just quoting what I find interesting and offering some insight if it gets too long I’ll split it into two posts.

I’m also planning a general summary post of each players thoughts which may or may not be done prior to me being uncursed

Golden wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 1:50 am Disregard the above, I think I misread.
It would give it away but only if the player choices Civ over mafia. I’m going out on a limb and saying someone like Mac/Rico are more likely to swing mafia vs like say Jay but that’s a rabbit hole discussion

DharmaHelper wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 4:15 pm
Scotty wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 4:12 pm Q: how likely is the “multiple mafia teams” slip that DH had in multiple posts yesterday to come from a town vs a mafia mindset?
I don't think its alignment indicative unless you consider that if I am SK or Mafia I tend to dig my teeth into the game more than if I am CIV vis-a-vis mechanics and I also tend not to put my foot in my mouth and I also tend not to do anything to draw an unnecessary amount of attention to myself.

But I personally don't think it means much, from an alignment perspective.
I know DH isn’t here but the slot is so I’ll comment.

I think in general outside of the VERY rare true scum slips most of the mech type slips/questions are town 99% of the time mafia will ask in BTSC these questions and 1/4 will know the answer.

This was, in fact, the post that got me to ask what sheeping was. I don't necessarily find Michelle suspicious bc of it only because I'm guessing that sheeping is a new thing everyone does based on the explanation I was given of what it means. That said, this is an old school game and players (new or old) should put themselves in old-school mode. No one would have gotten away with "sheeping" 5-10 years ago. So, Michelle needs to rethink her strategy or suspicion will most certainly arise.
Honestly love this post. Eloh is quickly becoming my top town read (if your mafia imma cry though so you have to tell me if you’re mafia, promise I won’t tell anyone else :p)

I'm reading everyone else as pretty civ, except for DFaraday who I have no read on, because he never posts.
Can I get the bullet points of why you’re uneasy about all those folks?
Sure.
DH: Chatty, passive aggressive, posting lots of ISO's that don't say a whole lot, seems perpetually irritated and aggrieved, hasn't said anything to make me trust him.

sig: Got called out as mafia on Day 0, briefly garnered suspicion, but escaped any serious danger of being lynched. Since that time has largely disappeared into the background, possibly to avoid being noticed again.

bea: I never really trust her because I think she is great at maintaining the same demeanor regardless of alignment. That being said, her cheerfulness feels slightly more forced this game. I may be imagining it.

G-Man: Has some (I assume) legitimate real-life obstacles to being active, but his play feels on autopilot compared to what I remember from the old days. He pops in with an occasionally "golden the coward", but hasn't really contributed anything of substance. Might be hiding.
I'm not terribly alarmed by the pattern of sig's involvement to this point. All of this reads like standard protocol when sig is in the game.

I have no substantive thoughts on either bea or G-man just yet, but I'd be interested in exploring them briefly right now. Imma go have a look.

No comment on DH here because there is plenty of discussion ongoing about him.

He was fighting for air most of the last few pages before end of day, which is probably NAI but I’m not sold on him being mafia just yet.

That Quin wagon, though. Very static. Had an Nonplayer voting there basically all day. And not just any Nonplayer. JaggedJimmyJay. The problem is, we don’t know who JJJ would be rooting for in this game. I believe he entered into BTSC with someone and also has a grasp on the game.
In a vacuum, I think JJJ is very good at rooting out scum, like a truffle pig is particular good at hunting for truffles. But who’s to say he saw the 3p eliminated early and saw the game get harder for mafia and decided to help them?
I don’t actually think that’s the case, and I think we ignored the gift that JJJ gave us in offering his opinion.

That vote was largely talked about but the implications of it were not actually considered publicly.

So anyway, I think all of this to say, I think mafia came out today to sway the thread away from Quin. I should have just stuck to my guns from yesterday.
And I am also guilty of muddying up the waters. I campaigned for LoRab’s demise, and that tunnel brought 2 competing wagons that I think were probably town/town.

Sloonei was a very active contributor in the final bits of this day, and he took it upon himself to make his vote the final pump of air in LoRab’s basketball. Could just be a flailing town trying to do right, but it could also just be making a choice who he wants to try and miselim tomorrow. Maybe DH has a better chance of going over than LoRab did.

All this to say, Sloonei and Quin are in need of scrutiny.

I’ve finally caught up to day 3 thankfully not much here in ways of content which is nice for me but not great for town going into this day I’m definitely solidifying my thoughts and finding who I want to look into more vs who I think is civ.

I also plan to do a Llama NKA but until I do that I’d say quin is a prime target for eyeballing based off Llama flip.

Pretty heavy handed.

Why on Earth would mafia kill you right now? You’re prime miselim material if you’re town
The ONLY way he is killed at night right now is if his own team sacrifices him to distance themselves from him. This is an idea I wouldn't even have considered in my previous games however, if you can win while dead, then why not?
I was gonna wait til right before the deadline to suggest this theory.
Don’t like this idea and a bit of a ping from either late or Sloonie for saying it. While true killing a teammate is interesting it also reduces mafia by one which outside of like Marmot or wilgy nobody would do.

(Pretty sure @Marmot did do this once back in the olden days though) :disappoint:

I know you didn’t ask me but that’s a big family you’ve got! I’m always amazed at how those of you with kids can still take time to play this silly game on this site. Kudos to you

I definitely want to know. Do you have dogs? I also have 3 big dogs that I got before I realized I'd be raising another infant

Ive also got a step daughter from my first marriage. Shes all grown up now but we are still besties :cloud9:
I’m acutely aware that you probably can only talk in off topic today by the way

Yeah, the wife and I got a little angel who is ~2 years old. We figured before even entertaining having a child we’d want to do a trial run with a dog first. She’s a little pumpkin and keeps our hands and hearts full, and is basically our child. I can’t imagine having kids on top of that.

My grandmother had a habit of adopting grandchildren. I call it a habit, because it really was a hobby of hers. It felt like every 3 weeks she’d meet someone at her church that could use a little extra love in their life. I just went to her 90th birthday party and she told me she has 38 adopted grandkids. That’s on top of her 6 real children and the mass of underlings from there. I don’t even know how that’s possible.

Meanwhile my dog wants me to throw the ball and I’m tooo tiiiiirred :noble:

(and yes, I know that all of the night victims are likely civ, but I make no assumptions--assumptions are dangerous in this game). And sorry that this post is kind of all over the place.

Splints is a good player, and so I can see why she'd be a N1 target for mafia. Especially if one of the players is someone whom she historically has been able to read. Now I need to remember who that could be. And, mafia knows that anyone not on their team is civ, so is a good target no matter what.

And I should have a normal-er schedule now, so can post more regularly. And maybe actually get reads on people.

Also, I swear that I totally submitted a song for the contest, but now that message seems to have disappeared, and it's super weird. And I'm curious where it went to.

Looking at the visible night results, Kate was Greened and Bea was somethinged. Not knowing what role/circumstance had that effect on Bea, hard to say if that's good or bad. I disagree with whomever said it was a result of the map poll--since she wasn't the only Canada voter, but seems to be the only one whose posts have been altered. And she even said (I think?) that it wasn't Vompatti.

I have more thoughts and I'll remember them later. :)

-Vivax2.0 (hasn’t posted yet, but his slot was fine. Note: fine. This slot could be as close to null as I have. Putting as Townlean for now)

Scumlean:

-DF (this is also town meta for him. :sigh: )
-Sloonei (if sloonei isn’t the lynch switcher as Golden implies then he shoots up to scummy for me for weird behavior D1)

Currently suspecting LoRab, DH, Quin

OK so here are the first mentions of the OT curse. First Scotty points it out with no elaboration.

Then Lorab mentions it but states that it mafia driven.

Sig next mentions it by saying that he's probably thinking its an actual curse while throwing in some alternative ideas about target switching, etc.

Then he says he will soft read me, not sure what that means exactly but I assume he's taking my posts with a grain of salt and not just a pass.

Then Scotty posts a list of players and impressions and lists me as Town Core. Sig then quotes that post and completely agrees with it - with some adjustments which do not include me.
This isn't the pingiest argument ever written, however, I assume more people noticed the slip up after the night ended so that leads me to believe that Sig is dropping crumbs of doubt without outright saying it when he knows that I'm not deserving of doubt. So Sig is on my list.

This was just too much not to throw into spoiler text.

I didn’t comment on Kate sinfe I agreed with Scotty the others I had slightly different views so noted that in the thread.

I’d say my view on Katie is the same the two pings would be the NK comment but that’s minor and the anger we saw night two but I’d still hold you as a solid civ for the time being.

It wasn’t intended expected to be permanent, it’s a pressure vote.

As it stands right now… I am genuinely worried about sig, but I don’t know that he feels pressure from my vote. So I’m not sure it’s fulfilling its function. But I’m also thread behind. My thinking today is I’m focused on finding baddies within DF, G-Man, Michelle & sig. i still suspect SVS but I plan to let that develop and see if SVS can change my mind, I don’t see the benefit in putting massive early pressure there even if she is ultimately mafia, and I think there’s people (including you) whose reads I’ll need to trust… I’m terrible at reading SVS.

I will be very sus if sig just never shows up again. I don’t think the vowel curse is an excuse to take the day off, and I’d like evidence that he’s thinking.

I do not object to Golden exploring his sig suspicion Day 3.

Still have some of day 3 to catch up to do I’m definitely less confident in some of my reads now then I was before.

I also plan to do a llama NKA. Initial thoughts though is Quin comes out looking bad for sure.

Out of the 5 Gman voters

G-Man
6
24%
Drwilgy , Michelle, Golden, Sloonei, Kate, Ricochet

Most solid/Civ: Sloonie and Kate
Mid tier: DrWilgy
Iffy tier: Michelle and Golden

I 100% believe we’ll find a second mafia member among the high posters just like Gman said that means it’s either Golden Scotty or SVS/DH in my mind. So gotta reread them

I’m suspecting we’ll see one mafia member on rhe opposing wagon and then one on a random wagon maybe
