The awards ceremony was all G-Man's idea - very creative, you did an awesome job G!MovingPictures07 wrote:Thanks to all our Socky Hosts for putting together this really awesome shindig for all of us this year. Re: 2016 Socky Awards
Congrats again to all the winners and also the finalists. Many of these were difficult votes, and that's because there are a bunch of great players and personalities around here. If you play Mafia with us, you're swell in my book.
Thanks for presenting the awards with such creativity, G-Man. It was a great idea and you saw it through beautifully. Also thanks to the rest of the Sockys crew for helping him out when I had to leave by surprise.

Re: 2016 Socky Awards
There have been Cylons everywhere on the Syndicate for months and I'm upset that I missed the game they come from. Whatever was happening in there, I'm sure it's very well deserving of the win.
Rico got my vote. Like I said earlier, I'm bummed I had to bail on GY!BE. That was one of the most flavorful setups I've ever seen. I loved it.

Indeed, I cannot emphasize how much this community really means to me. You all are many of my closest friends, and I'm incredibly proud that the 'I'm going to start my own mafia site' vision that I developed in 2012 is still alive and burning now. It wouldn't be without all of you contributing epic games as hosts as well as incredible player performances. Thank you all so much for your continued contributions to this community, which really holds a special place in my life.Quin wrote:This.Sloonei wrote:Congrats to all the winners, and thank you to Everyone for contributing to an excellent community full of excellent mafia games.

I will never forget just how fucking floored I was when I found out you were mafia in that game. I was literally 100% confident you were town. It blew my mind for days. Lol. If Quin hadn't wiped the floor with town in Mad Max and more people paid attention to Heists, I think you might have pulled that win off for your performance in that game alone.Spacedaisy wrote:Ah cool. Re: 2016 Socky Awards
Heists have quickly become my new favorite game type, so I agree. It's a lot harder for mafia to hide since there are less players, but with a more quick game progression, it also can be tough to win as a town team as well. The games are just so tight too. Role madness games are always fun, but as a player I've found that nothing beats the simplicity of a three non-vanilla role limit. It's just that awesome core of mafia. I love Heists.Quin wrote:Heists are definitely underappreciated. Burglaries were definitely a success too! I'd love to participate in and see more of them in 2017. We definitely need more volunteer hosts. Burglaries can happen anytime, not just special occasions, so let's get these things rolling again. If you're reading this and want to host a burglary, talk about it in the Burglary hosting thread!

Glad everyone had fun. I apologize for the delays to write posts. About 1/3 of the time you were waiting I was trying to post but you guys wouldn't shut up in the thread!
Had I had an extra hour for prep, I could have pre-written some stuff to cut down the delay times and hashed out a plan to include the other Sockey organizers much more. Sorry for hijacking the awards show aspect. And thank you for jumping in when my daughter got sick. Thankfully it wasn't as heinous as what happened Thursday night. *shudders*

Holy cow I missed all of this.
Congratulations to everyone that won and some of those finalists were just as deserving across the board.
I'm honored to be called funny. I'm more of a stray fart, IMO, but if I make you chuckle, then so be it!
Congratulations to Jay, Quin, LoRab, Sorsha, pretty much all you peeps who are just generally better at playing this game than I am. I'm glad I'm a part of this community, and am not going to give my tux back after the awards show because I never had one to begin with.

Thanks Matty! You are deserving finalist for that spirit award. You play with a great deal of respect and that's an important quality.

Must have been more than one, you were a finalist.Glorfindel wrote:Congratulations, to all the Socky winners and especially to:
- LoRab who thoroughly deserved her award for her performance in Mad Max.
- Quin for best newcomer (against some awfully stiff competition) and as best Mafioso
- G-Man for his award for Mad Max and
- My main man, Jay who was rewarded for his awesome skill as a Townie.
And to whoever it was who voted for me for the Spirit Award, thank you - you are clearly a very kind soulG-Man wrote: Sector A1 has revealed the Spirit Award:

I used an extra vote to create a tie, which gave us extra time, and caused a lot of confusion. It was one of the more stressful moments of mafia in recent memory. Also fun. In the old time mafia fun kind of ways.Long Con wrote:What did you do with your Mad Max role?LoRab wrote:Thanks y'all.
