Aw Golden, shit happens :)

Once I had to restart a game two days in because I screwed up the info.

Bye Faraday and Quin. Welcome, MP.

I see I am now a part of this game. Furthermore, it appears to be in a critical stage. Cool. :slick:

I've kept up with the game poorly off and on, so I'm vaguely aware of what's going on, but I don't feel comfortable with it. Let me read some of this stuff and I'll report back with questions for you all as well as some immediate reads.

The HCR crossover game, however, ends over four hours before this game. I'm in that game and it's currently Day 1, so my attention is more likely to be focused on that game until that EoD is complete.

Dom scares me a bit.

His vote on me, a few minutes before deadline, would have caused a tie. A tie would have given town a 4/7 chance of losing the game, right there. If there had been one more on me, that's 100% mislynch. Dom either:
Voted me, then reconsidered and decided not to play the odds this late and go ahead for his teammate
or
Legitimately carelessly flung a vote on me before considering where the game, vote totals, and scum were, then switched to DF immediately after.

Thoughts? From anyone?

A coordinated scum team could have jumped on me together at EOD and lynched me, ending the game with a scum win. That they didn't suggests a lack of coordination and presence. While further implicating Dom, this doesn't give me good feels about Sorsha.

Sorsha:
I'm torn between whether her place on DF's wagon looks good or terrible. Her vote almost made DF's lynch unavoidable, though she probably wasn't around at EOD to nab me with a coordinated scum CFD. HOWEVER: Sorsha isn't in the best spot, and referenced reasons from yesterday while voting for DF. Had Sorsha not voted DF, that could have set up more flags on her than not.

I could see a Dom/Sorsha team. Still looking at others.

Epi:
I'm willing to forgive Epi's place on my wagon. I've been crap this game. Don't really like the way he avoided responsibility for the vote by promising the bandwagon on G-Man, but at the same time, if I die, it's game over. If Epi were mafia, he'd know who the townies are, and at the point in the game, responsibility for mislynches doesn't matter.

The way DF agreed to follow onto the three-man wagon makes Epi look... better? I'd expect distancing from Epi if he were scum, buddying if her were town. Wine on that one.

The constant dislike of DF's lynch was iffy, but only because of the result. If she was a different, more unfair bullcrap type role, then Epi would've been right.
Of course, where I come from, Lynchproofs are considered bad game design, so I can't judge that one for sure. I could talk about why, but it isn't relevant to the game at hand.

The back and forth with SVS is weird. It's so focused on meta that I can't make heads or tails of it. If anyone else can, please do.

Faint transmissions keep coming through from you all everybody at the surface. Not sure how long I'll be able to slip away and send these messages out. It might be in your best interest to go back and look at reasons people had for voting for and away from DFaraday. Look for lame or poorly-constructed reasons for those votes. DFaraday was a third option on Day 1, so see how people reacted to him getting votes and when others pulled away.

I've never been good at this hero thing but my gut seems to think Sorsha and speedchuck might be the final baddies but I wouldn't rule out Epignosis without extreme scrutiny.

I can see the jamming equipment but I have to figure out the code to switch it off...

Okay, I'm here and ready to start getting my head into this game. Can't stick around for too long, but I should be able to devote at least a solid hour or so. Today's thankfully been a pretty flexible day and allowed me some serious mafia time.

Alright, that's kinda bad though because my time for this world may indeed be very short. I'll do whatever I can though.

I obviously can't read 660ish posts worth of thread, but I'm going to thoroughly explore each of the remaining mafia and see how you all shake out.

Well now let's see.

Most people like fewer letters, so "as penance" would work for them.

You like a lot of letters, so "ass penance" would be more appropriate for you. :feb:

I'm not bad, G-Man isn't bad, so that just leaves Dom, Epignosis, Sorsha, speedchuck, and S~V~S as the possible baddies; three of them are vanilla civ and two are vanilla mafia. I'm going to take a look at voting records, ISOs, and perhaps some interaction analyses with DF if I have time (doubtful, but I'd like to ideally) and see what I can draw from all of it using a replacement/fresh eyes perspective since I haven't read most of this game.

Looking over voting records in isolation at the moment; here are some immediate thoughts.

If Dom is bad, he missed the D1 vote. OK, believable I guess. Votes nutella on D2, ehhh. Hard to read much into D2 voting records in isolation because it was between two townies. But Dom's early D3 vote of nutella looks bad at face value as if he was trying to keep that lynch momentum going and avoid growing momentum surrounding DF. Not sure what to make of the D4 vote. Takeaway: Dom is a compatible teammate of DF based on voting record alone.

If Epignosis is bad, he kept the speedchuck wagon going on D1 to counteract mounting suspicion on DF; this is dependent on speedchuck being town though. Then on D2 he contributes to the nutella mislynch, OK. The sole vote for S~V~S on D3 is a bit troublesome, but it's strange because if he was DF's teammate he could have voted in conjunction with G-Man to tie it up. Maybe he thought that was too big of a risk. Not sure. His speedchuck vote on D4 isn't ideal, especially if speedchuck is bad. Takeaway: Epi is a compatible teammate of DF based on voting record alone. Also, I don't think Epi and speedchuck are teammates.

If Sorsha is bad, she hopped onto the Llama wagon D1, maybe to save speedchuck if he's bad. Couldn't preemptively save DF though. She missed the vote on D2 AND D3. UGH. Her D4 vote for DF is okay I guess. There's like nothing here to analyze. Grrr. Takeaway: I guess Sorsha is a compatible teammate of DF based on voting record alone. Also, if Sorsha is bad, speedchuck could be the final teammate.

If speedchuck is bad, D1 was a serious gamble by him and DF. However, not sure what to think of speedchuck's failure to follow through with it on D2 and D3; that perplexes me and makes me tinfoil a bit and consider that D1 was distancing. But it also would mean D4 was between two members of the mafia... not sure if I believe that as likely. Takeaway: It's possible that speedchuck is a teammate of DF based on voting record alone, but I think it's unlikely.

If S~V~S is bad, she was the first to start the Llama wagon D1, maybe to save speedchuck if he's bad. Late notsawyer vote on D2, not sure what to make of that. 3rd vote for DF on D3 looks good, really secured his lynch. Ballsy bussing if so. D4 she votes him again. Takeaway: It's possible that S~V~S is a teammate of DF based on voting record alone, but I think it's unlikely.

====================================================================================================

So how does voting record reflect upon everyone left? Here's a rainbow.

MP Rainbow: Voting Record (Solo)
S~V~S
speedchuck

Sorsha

Epignosis
Dom

Also, because there are two baddies remaining, I analyzed the voting records with every combination of two. For example, Dom and speedchuck seem the least likely combination, even though I think Dom's voting record alone looks suspicious, because D3 would have been a very poor way for both of them to vote considering they could have easily coordinated to save DF with little personal responsibility.

Here is a rainbow reflecting my assessments of those combinations:

MP Rainbow: Voting Record (Dual)
Dom & speedchuck

Epignosis & S~V~S
Dom & S~V~S
speedchuck & S~V~S

Sorsha & S~V~S
Epignosis & speedchuck
Sorsha & speedchuck

Epignosis & Sorsha

Dom & Sorsha
Dom & Epignosis

Consequently, as a result of this analysis, I'm most likely to advocate a lynch of Dom or Epignosis on D5. This is just voting record though. I'm going to dig into ISOs next.

To clarify on one point:

There was clear cognitive dissonance between my initial thoughts re: Epignosis & speedchuck and then when I revisited the voting records to develop this rainbow list. I originally had thought Epignosis & speedchuck were very unlikely. However, I felt the distancing could be there because of the lack of follow through, so I threw them in the yellow "I don't really know" area in the end.

ISO stuff upcoming.

You seem to be the one pushing the thought that this matters. And if Golden randomized it, it doesn't.
Why are you going after G?

I misread what Quin wrote and thought that he had said that his role PM didn't specify an alignment because I have a terrible habit of skim reading sometimes.

I do find you suspicious now, however, because of the way your post is addressed toward everyone except me. Seems to me you're trying to convince people to vote for me. If you really had any interest in my response, you would've directed your inquiry about me to me.

Vote DFaraday
Overreaction much? I expressed my thoughts on the subject, then explicitly said I wanted to hear from you. I haven't even voted for you. It was your phrasing more than anything, that whole, "Then I'm definitely considering INH" bit. It made it sound as if you put in more thought than what was essentially a joke vote.

As a side note, lately I've been seeing a lot of "if you were civvie you wouldn't do x" or "a civvie never does y". I'm not a fan.
How do we feel about this?

Not great on my end!
I don't see a teammate interaction with Dom/S~V~S; Dom's question seems sincere. I see a potential teammate interaction with Dom/DF, though it depends on how one views it: distancing or throwing mud. I'm tentatively skeptical that this is throwing mud, but let's see how Dom follows up with this.

He doesn't. Other than this:

Dom is visibly confused. It's hard to do anything with this, but it could be genuine at face value if he is town. Tough call here. This is probably the one post that makes me hesitate on a mafia read of Dom.

=========================================================================================

Dom is a moderate mafia read. I don't think his nutella suspicion seems genuine, especially given he conveniently didn't mention DF again for a ridiculously long period of time, which implies that his early thoughts on DF could be seen as distancing. If Dom is genuine, then the only thing he seems to have believed with conviction all game is the nutella case, and I frankly don't understand his behavior surrounding DF and especially surrounding speedchuck. Some clarity would be very appreciated.

MP's ISO of Epignosis

Epignosis spent Day 1 making jokey posts and arguing with G-Man about his character claim and a "two-way" post. I have no idea what purpose any of this served. I don't think that's a good look at all.

Epi's Day 2 is all about nutella:

Yes he is. So...

He's participating more here. Let's lynch him! That'll teach him to participate more!

"Something about" is not a tangible reason to suspect someone, and it's nothing he or she can defend against. You might as well lynch him because the man in the hatch told you to.

I have described to the best of my ability why I suspect DF. He is not playing the way he usually does, and he comes across as more aggressive in a way that does not feel genuine to me. I don't know what you mean about "reproducing clueless behavior."
I welcome that he is not playing the way he usually does. That's boring.
I welcome that he comes across as more aggressive. He should do that more often.
You were clueless the last time we were together. You reminded me of how clueless you could be. Why go to the trouble? It doesn't make you good this time.
I could easily see Dom and Epignosis being teammates and grilling nutella as an easy mislynch.

I don't like how Epi is putting out so little thought of his own. I also don't like his interactions with nutella at all; I feel as though he isn't making any effort to actually understand where she's coming from to develop a read on her, instead he just continuously dismisses her and picks apart her wording.

I think Epi's baddie hunting really leaves a lot to be desired here. By D2 he's evaluated almost no one, discussed almost nothing, and hyperfocused his interrogations in a way that I see as furthering an agenda much more than I do an honest attempt at trying to get a handle on nutella's alignment. That's all a terrible look.

Then comes D3 Epi, where he shifts attention to S~V~S:

I'm voting for you because you keep voting for people for doing things you don't like as opposed to things that are indicative of being mafia.
Yet again I find Epi not making any attempt to actually uncover S~V~S's alignment but instead prescript her behavior to "opportunistic". I just cannot fathom where Epi's perspective is in all of this. Perhaps he can clarify.

I also find the orange incredibly ironic considering Epi doesn't seem to give a shit about what makes anyone indicative of being mafia.

How have you all not lynched Epi yet?

Epignosis wrote:Regardless of DFaraday's alignment, I'm a little disappointed that when DF talks more, he gets lynched. I like talkative DF.
WIFOM, but it is a defense of DF on D3, which was a critical day for DF's survival. So a slightly bad look overall.

So no, that doesn't look good for DF, but he may in fact be a traditional manner of "Godfather." If that's true, then it means you're wasting lynches on him while his cronies keep on keeping on.
More defense of DF. One could say that Epi would not be so brazen about defending a teammate, but I wouldn't say that.

S~V~S has played with llama enough to know he posts like this and says controversial things that have no bearing on his alignment. She will admit as much later.
S~V~S wrote:I wonder if Sorsha noticed she had three votes when she was in here.

One vote on a person for a silly reason, ha ha lulz. Dropping a second vote on someone for a silly reason, not cool. Dropping a third vote, what baddie would do that?

I hope to see votes moving there or better reasons put forth.

So dropping a temp vote on Llama for lulz. If he takes his vote more seriously, I will too.
This is a case of S~V~S voting llama not because she thought he was bad, but because she wanted to punish him. "Not cool." Why wasn't it cool? He was a civilian, so even if his thoughts were weird, they were genuine. That's how llama is.

S~V~S knows that, as we're about to see.

Lastly, her final line in this post gave the illusion of open-mindedness, but it was conditional. Again, this was not a vote to find mafia- it was a vote to punish: "Take your (Day 1) vote more seriously or else." It was a threat, and it got a civilian lynched.
S~V~S wrote:
thellama73 wrote:Who would you prefer I vote for, SVS?
At this point, I don't particularly know, the votes for Sorsha are the only thing to stand out to me so far. Who do you think I should vote for?

I just really dislike it when people put others in a lynchable position for lulz. Probably an artifact of when we did not have changeable votes.
Again, note the wording: "I just really dislike it when..."

Just because you dislike something doesn't mean you should lynch the person for it. It doesn't make him bad. It means (if you are civilian) that you need to reread the object of the game (find mafia), but I find that a lot of times, mafia resort to lynching civilians for things they dislike. And you, S~V~S, have known llama's wackiness for years. His vote against Sorsha was not worth lynching him over, and you know that, but went for it anyway.
S~V~S wrote:
speedchuck wrote:Those who have their vote placed on me:

Personally, I think Llama looks scummier than you. He was the first to put a second vote on someone for a silly reason. I can't imagine someone being bad and piling a third silly vote on someone. That is why I voted for him, not you. But I have seen very bold baddies do very bold things to fall back on the wifom.

Are you a bold baddie?

Do you honestly think Sorsha is bad? If not do you plan to move your vote?
If S~V~S is bad, I would likely rule out speedchuck based on this exchange.

S~V~S said she can't imagine someone being bad and piling a third "silly" vote on someone. I think that's the most ridiculous thing said here. S~V~S has twice the Mafia experience I do, if not more, and I've seen some squirrely-ass things in my time. I've seen mafia kill their own teammates. I find it hard to believe you, S~V~S, can't imagine mafia not plopping down a third silly vote on someone. I've seen mafia do way crazier things than that.

And I will take you seriously if you give real answers and stop goofing around. If you suspect Faraday, then vote for him! You don't feel even remotely sincere to me, and you put someone you don't actually seem to suspect in danger. That concerns me. Even goofing around, when you are sincere this comes through. I am not seeing it.
I don't google things I can ask my friends about. And if I vote for Faraday now, I put my own life in peril, which I am not in the mood to do.
I don't like to bother my friends with trivia, so I Google things. It takes all types to make the world go around.

So you would rather leave your vote on the person who you don't actually suspect, instead of the person you DO suspect, and who you already named as your suspect? Becasue voting for the person you actually do suspect will get you killed, whereas just naming him won't?

I know you like to be quirky and quixotic and cultivate this image, but you make no sense right now. I am Okey Dokey with my vote.

Iam taking another hit of Nyquil and going to bed.
In light of the fact that there has been a Mafia Godfather in both previous entries, this stands out to me. If my hypothesis is correct that DF is a traditional "Godfather," then S~V~S pushing llama to vote DF would be encouraging him to waste a lynch.

I note that S~V~S herself voted DF today (again, over something she didn't like).

Furthermore, in a Mafia context, I doubt S~V~S ever finds llama remotely sincere. That's his way. He's a snake oil salesman. He's a character from a friggin Flannery O' Connor story. Here he is now. :llama:

S~V~S even acknowledged his penchant for being "quirky and quixotic," but he's making "no sense right now." Outside of a blatant slip in which the slipper tries to save face, since when does making no sense on Day 1 indicate that someone is bad? Surely S~V~S has enough experience to know that it is civilians who tend to make the lesser amount of sense early on because there is no pressure on mafia to have to get their stories straight. On top of it all, it's llama. :llama:

S~V~S was okay with her vote because it was a convenient way to lynch a civilian. I'm calling her out on it.
Here is Epi's giant case against S~V~S. The first question I have is: If so much of this is based on Llama, then why the fuck did Epi spend D2 grilling nutella and not mentioning a single word of this?

That said, I'm not sure what the strategic value of a mafia Epi going after S~V~S on a solo crusade would accomplish. I'm given a bit of pause.

But if you want to keep clutching at reasons to suspect me, knock yourself out.
"Low ball?" You mean not participate much?

My level of participation has everything to do with the fact that I'm trying to do too much at one time- that's it. I don't like to talk about real life in games, because it has nothing to do with my alignment, so I tend to stay quiet about that and post about it elsewhere. This past week has been grades, grades, grades. Add on to this our yard catching fire a week ago and my sister-in-law moving in the week before, with us trying to get her a job (she has one) and an apartment (she doesn't), and that's why I'm "low balling" it (if that's what you meant).

My participation level will never ever ever depend on what alignment I got. I consider not playing simply because you are bad discourteous.
This post is likely non-alignment-indicative, but it feels genuine nonetheless. So that's something.

Not sure I like this though. Again one has to dabble into WIFOM asking whether Epi would try so hard to redirect the lynch away from his teammate, but a D4 mislynch would have ended the game, so I think it's the logical play to make as a teammate. A Hail Mary, but logical.

Earlier Epi speculated on DF's role being a traditional godfather; I forgot to quote it. I'm not sure what to make of that discussion, but it follows that Epi really tried to persuade people into not voting DF D4 pretty much as much as possible. Make of that what you will.

To me, that was the perfect punchline. It was a joke. Quin got it.

She therefore has no reason to be upset. If she is feigning being upset, very well, but I am going to remember this forever, and I will not hold back in the future regardless of what her emotional state looks like.

I hope this little game was worth it.

My vote will go elsewhere today.
Very impressed.

Epignosis is a strong mafia read. I'm not feeling 100%, but if he's town I cannot fathom the game he has played here. He defended DF to oblivion, his cases against nutella and S~V~S (but especially nutella) felt like he was splitting hairs and not making any genuine attempt to understand where the other person was coming from.

Someone please argue with me on this because if I'm wrong we're fucked, but I feel about 90-95% confident Epi is bad.

Night 4 has ended. G-Man has died.

He was:

Charlie Pace. No matter what you do, you're going to die, brotha! You will consume the mafia nightkill on night 4 (they must kill you) but you are immune from any form of death until that point.

It is now Day Five. You have 48 hours to find the person responsible for Charlie's death and put them down forever...

And I didn't argue against his lynch either.

I cautioned against voting for him as opposed to his teammates.

Don't get cute.

Why don't you do something about it instead of just complaining about how you suck? I'm doing the best I can with the information I have to analyze, and your response is to just say "MP's gonna lose for you all hurrrr".

Fucking get off the pot and convince me otherwise then.
You know, I have this crazy reputation of catching Mafia early on.

You know what else I have? A record of blowing it in the endgame.

I'd rather you go about your explorations and get your opinions in order.

But I'm Juliet Burke, the coffee civilian, and I'd really like to nab a third win. I'm not evil. Go forth with that. Assume it's true. Trust me.

I'm not about to blow the endgame myself with tunnel vision, Epi, so you know I will give you a fair shake just like everyone else. I'm just calling shit like I see it, that's all.

I get that. I'd roll with S~V~S being good too (see our earlier dispute). That would leave you with three people to nab two mafia.

MP's ISO of Sorsha

There really isn't much to go off of in Sorsha's ISO. But I'm trying.
Spoiler: show
Sorsha wrote:Put my vote on llama for now. I'll change it later if saving myself is a possibility.
I'm not entirely clear what was going on with Sorsha and Llama. But this is how Sorsha voted. It is notable that Sorsha came under serious pressure early in D1.

Sorsha D2: MIA
Spoiler: show
Sorsha wrote:At the time when I had four votes on day one I was saying to myself there is no way they can all be civs. Two have been civs so far and that leaves speedchuck and Epi.

Df and svs come to mind as players who defended me pretty early while that vote was going on and now after, are going after those who voted me. As much as I appreciate them sticking up for me it makes me wonder if one, or both are bad trying to buddy me or going after some easy targets. I have to look over the last lynch to see what part they played in it.

I've still only skimmed, I just wanted to get a few thoughts out there.
Some healthy paranoia or mudslinging? I lean towards the former, but who knows.

The fourth vote on a wagon, especially in early game, is a happenstance place for scum to be. It's an opportunistic place on the wagon, but still a meaningful place that leads further toward a lynch.

Epi being scum wouldn't surprise me.

Assuming you've narrowed it down to the four, which one would you be most suspicious of?

linki: Honestly, I had a wedding and a birthday, and was sick through both. I'm usually around much more, like in Phenon, but I was down and out this past week. That's the distracting bit you're seeing.
I'm here now, though.
If I had to throw a vote right now it would be DF.
This is critical. Sorsha voiced suspicion of DF; even though she missed the vote, this is worth consideration.
Spoiler: show
Sorsha wrote:Sorry for not being around. Packing and moving this weekend... voting DF though as I said yesterday
...and that's it. A vote for DF on D4.

=========================================================================================

This is tough. But based on in-thread content alone, I actually think Sorsha doesn't look half bad. I'd call her a slight town read.

Dude, it's cool, it's just a game. I know you've been having a lot going on lately. Whatever you can do will assist.

Can you maybe walk me through what your thoughts were on speedchuck whenever you get the chance?

Dom, if it's not me and not you, then which combination of Epi, speedchuck, Sorsha, and S~V~S makes sense to you? I know you seem disengaged with the game, so don't feel like it has to be an even remotely informed decision. Just your gut evaluation.
