I don't want Llama's game to be disrespected, and I don't want to have a situation where we have 3+ complete nonparticipants a few cycles from now, and then we have a giant debate as to what to do with them. That's just annoying, IMO.

Thats what MdKills are for and Hosts need to learn to do it.

The last game I hosted (it was not here but on AW) I ModKilled a record 5 people for non participation. I find ModKilling to be quite liberating
I already have one replacement lined up which I am not afraid to use. I am good friends with Mac's Mom and have ben bugging him to post. He seems very cofused by the whole thing. If it comes to modkilling, I am not above that. :feb:

I'll give them a few days though.

Looking to hire a professional to make me feel better. Any takers?

Alright, game-related question for everyone:

What do folks make of DH's vote for Epi? Does it say anything about alignment for you, however small?

I have to get back to being frisky with my PhD work, so I'll be back at some point, IDK when.

I feel like those 2 have history and can't make anything of it one way or another. DH didn't really explain it thoroughly either.

I'm more interested in Roxy.

If she's not voting for me today, I guess there's no limit to how obnoxious I can be. I mean, she won't vote for me, so why worry?

I'd vote for a newcomer in a heartbeat. If they don't post, however insignificant, then they're useless to me. I'll always err on the side of people that have played before and know better, but I wouldn't put it past me to vote, say Mac's Mom or Hamburger Boy (McDonalds isnt paying me enough for this endorsement).

If sig doesn't post in the next day, and if there isn't a resoundingly suspicious read, I'll probably be voting sig. I've at least played with him before.

But we'll see.

I think DH is probably angling for a reaction. It seems too lazy for a distancing attempt, and DH isn't generally a lazy player.

And if you were to alphabetize Frisky Fucking Dingo you would have Dingo Frisky Fucking. You are alphabetizing all over town surprised you have not done that yet.

How about this, i challenge you to write an alphabetical ON TOPIC post. (This will make a good contest for future games). Like "A Baddie Can decide every Frisky ...." I dunno what G word to use, let's ask G-Man.

How very nice. The reasoning does look suspicious. DH could have asked the host whether or not votes are changeable, but seemed content with just throwing it out there. Because Epi probably wouldn't mind.

If done with ill intent, it was done so he doesn't have to defend his day one vote, not sure if i believe something that straightforward from DH tho. Iunno.

I actually would like to see it. But also explained simply like you are talking to a child or as in my case an old lady.
Ok, here goes.

If I were Xander Crews, this would be my first message, sent tonight:

"Hello Xtacles. First thing's first, we have to identify ourselves to each other. After the Night is done and you get this message, you will hide a code in your second post of Day 2. Your 6th word of that post will begin with an 'f', your fourteenth word will begin with a 'g', and your sixteenth word will begin with an 'h'. Look for each others' posts, identify each other as I identify you.

From that point on, we must coordinate your nightly PMs. You must pay attention to each others' signals, or this cannot work. You will signal your target using a code. The last word of your post will be a number, which will indicate which vote you are in the order. Obviously, this word will be "one", "two", "three", "four", "five", or "six". It will be followed by a Smiley to indicate which player you will be targeting.

19. Cookie - :workit:
20. Made - :confused2:
21. Movingpictures07 -
22. Saberfish -

If you posted twice before reading this PM, then you can still pull the escape chute to identify yourself with the phrase, "I think I need to light a candle" at some point during the phase. You will know who I am when I say "One more time around the mulberry bush, eh boys?"

Let's stay focused and do this by the numbers. I would like to suggest the first three targets to protect me every night - that, combined with helping me not get lynched by day, makes me very hard to kill.

The next three targets could protect one of you, or just use two to roleblock someone.

If the first targeter targets someone who is not me or you, then it is a signal that they wish to kill that person. Then we can kill and then roleblock. That's cool too.

I'll check in every night and talk about how things are going. Good luck out there!"

Something like that. Maybe I'd go over it a few more times with a fine-toothed comb in order to be prepared for whatever eventuality.

Also LC looks like prob not bc of llama's post which I missed in linkitis hell

Scotty - if you are normally obnoxious then by all means be yourself I still won't vote for you.
1. Bc I like to give the new players a chance to post and adjust to me and others and it feels more welcoming imo.

2. Bc it also works as a way to give us a both a chance to learn a bit about each others styles before we go off all willy-nilly lynching people.

Also:
I have played on many sites and have never been lynched on my first day as a new player. Even on 2+2 they have grown used to my low posting ways and have yet to lynch me there. What site are you from?

This just isn't true. Of course you can't know their alignment (unless you are both bad) but if the non-participant is on your side then it is more helpful to you to keep him/her alive. It creates a slightly better chance that someone who is not on your side will get lynched/killed.

This is why 48 hour days are a pointless joke. People seem to love them, but most don't use them. Makes no sense to me. It just invites the same six or seven people to say the same six or seven things six or seven different ways, and then when voting time comes, everybody else is all "oh noes! I have thirteen pages to catch up on!"

I actually agree with this. Not much of substance is usually said in the first 24 hours. It is nice b/c of the various time zones that are represented here on the syndicate, but I don't think it makes enough of a difference to matter much.

People I will vote:

Cookie - One post so far. Not what I want to see.

MP - I still find his reaction to DH's overly gregarious post disconcerting and not genuine.

Tiny Bubbles - Hasn't claimed being a civilian yet. :eye:

People I will not vote:

Long Con - More interested in organizing how (presumably) others use their roles (even if it breaks rules or the intention of the game) than looking for someone to lynch Day 1 and making some real progress. Waste of time. I like it.

But you're playing the odds here. Why play the odds? The semantics of it aside, I just plain don't like playing with inactives. The longer they sit and rot, even if they are on civ team, the bigger the chance of mafia picking off vocal people as the game wears on. Not adding to the civ cause yet remaining in the game is just easy pickins, and muddies the waters.

This just isn't true. Of course you can't know their alignment (unless you are both bad) but if the non-participant is on your side then it is more helpful to you to keep him/her alive. It creates a slightly better chance that someone who is not on your side will get lynched/killed.
You are right. I don't like playing with inactive either. It frustrates me to no end when people sign up to play and don't. And its horrible when it comes down to Mafia and inactive civs. Even if I am a civ in a game where that happens, I would rather Mafia take the win than a handful of inactive civs win a game.
Banners are cool, but a pain to scroll through so...
I've won a lot of games. I've hosted some games. The end.

Failing a good sniff of naughtiness, I would rather lynch inactives early on. Even if they are civilians, you get people's votes and reactions and it makes those inactives useful. Leaving duds for later is a drag. And I don't feel bad for lynching them either.

Plus in this game, which has 3 (and maybe 4) different teams, the majority of players are NOT on the team you are on; you would be best served (looking at probability) just lynching inactives early.

23.8% chance of picking team Killface out of a hat.

How bout odds of picking your own team if you are on
-Crews
-Killface
-politicians

And don't include the indigo-girls who want nothing more than to get off their team.

I have thirteen pages to catch up on!"
People love them because they gives people breathing room. Instead of having to show up everyday ready to play, you can show up read a bit, say a bit, then sleep on it, and come back the next day with more opinions and a final vote. It's a more comfortable pace that fits better to my lifestyle personally.

I think Epi's point was that a vocal majority come back in at the end of the phase and complain that they have to catch up, and don't really catch up. That may be your style, and is more forgiving for people with busy schedules. I'm in the camp that likes to do things fast and loose, so I can roam either way, but am also innately impatient, and feel like everything that needs to be said can be done so in 24 hours. Also, I believe that setting a shorter deadline can impose a more substantive dialogue.

I didn't really look at the other roles, so I went on the first picture, which Mr. Ford, who looks like a poltician. I dunno why I thought that.

Perhaps a 24/24 schedule should have a different set of standards regarding Participation Score?

I'm interested in trying to catch baddies, Epig. I think it would be very cool. I will also support lynching an inactive today. DisgruntledPorcupine would be my choice.

Since it's only the first half of day 1, it seems like everyone is just eying people warily. I'm doing the same right now, but I've noticed some stuff (or at least, I think I have). I'll sleep on it for now and vote tomorrow.

according the the descriptions yes and no. Xtdals are the only ones who explicitly say that you can be dead and win, but all other roles(Crew, kill, and politican) don't say one way or another.

Civilians apart from Xtacles need to be alive to win.
Team Killface wins or loses as a team.
Politicians (as they are apparently now called?) win or lose as a team.
Sisterhood of Chaos ?????????? (redacted)
