Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 3)

Day 3: It's the Pelvic Thrusts That Really Drive You Insane...

The people once protected by Barry Allen were growing complacent. Many were content sitting at home and ignoring the reports of strange behavior in the streets.

A few remained vigilant, asserting themselves as replacements for Barry and delivering a harsher justice. They found AceofSpaces the most sketchy man in their circle. They plotted to hunt him down and murder him on the spot, not even a trial was discussed.

They reached his door...rang the bell...but nobody answered. Not a soul was home.

A voice rang out in protest and was about to take action. But the upstanding citizen never had time. Just then, a low hum filled the air throughout both connected cities and a lightning bolt came crashing down somewhere near the Flash Museum.

Each of Ace's lynch-mob glanced over at each other, only to find they were all standing alone, nowhere near the doorstep they gathered at moments ago.

Elsewhere: a hand was waved at high noon in Central City, just hours before the mysterious lightning strike downtown. Smoke filled the air at a decorated gravesite. A figure stumbled out of the fog, adjusted his collar, and returned home, unusually tired for someone who had been dead for 2 days.

Nobody has been lynched.

Hmmmm. :/

As an aside, an incorrect PM slipped by my watch on Night 1. I was informed on Night 2. In response, I figured the best solution would be to correct Murmur's role accordingly. Please make note of the change.

Also, a letter has been chosen. More on that come nightfall. :nicenod:

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Night 2)

Night 2: A Curious Case

For most of the night, the Central City precinct was silent. Detective Singh wondered if the city's problems had sorted themselves out. One of the notorious new criminals in town had been taken care of, maybe the rest had fallen victim to similar fates?

Just then, Singh was startled by a lud thud. He walked over to the department's front door, where the noise had come from. Residue from a snowball plastered the glass. Outside, a figure was standing still. The detective wandered closer, surprised to see the man standing there had not thrown the snowball. He was frozen solid.

At Absolute Zero degrees, all kinetic energy halts. Muscles freeze and heartbeats cease. Detective Singh understood what had happened the second he tried to throw a blanket around Epignosis, when his body shattered into pebble-sized pieces.

This was definitely the work of Captain Cold's infamous weaponry. But why was he leaving a body for the police to find? It wasn't like him to kill unprovoked. Then again, lately it seemed like the Rogues, whose honorable code David had grown up hearing about, were not all who they seemed.

Epignosis has been killed.

Day 2: Luck Runs Out

Despite the mob mentality having a less than desirable outcome the first time around, the Central City PD knew they had a criminal in their sights.

Bass had just come back from acasino upstate, his fortune was less than favorable, so he grabbed dinner at a nearby restaurant, ate his fill, and ran without paying the bill.

Unfortunately, a camera caught Bass red-handed. The police were notified and on his drive home, lights began to flash behind him. Bass drove too fast, and his car flew off the bridge between Keystone and Central Cities. He was still alive after hitting the water, and he cried out for help. However, the citizens looking onward elected to simply watch him float down-river.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 1)

Night 1 - Justice...And Dinner...Are Served

With Barry dead and Wally West taking the law into his own hands, the night was now the most dangerous time in both Central and Keystone City.

To top it all off, Gorilla Grodd was feeling quite hungry on his first night camping out on the outskirts of civilization. He hadn't tasted human meat in so long. It just so happened a passerby smelled particularly delicious as they were dropped off by a car. The woman wandered on, it appeared she was hitch-hiking out of town. Reading her mind confirmed this.

Grodd stalked her for a good 3 miles before making his move. He pounced ferociously not even giving Fingersplints time to react before his giant arms came crashing down onto her head. Grodd was satisfied. He'd eat well tonight.

Hellbent on picking up twice the crimefighting work now that his friend and mentor was dead, Wally tore across Central City in a fraction of a second. He grabbed up a young man who stole some groceries earlier that evening as he was spraying some graffiti on a bridge, carrying him away. Wally would make sure he'd stay locked up for a long time for causing trouble in his city.

Throughout the tumultuous Midwest cities, villainous characters plotted evil attacks on the cities and their residents. Some were based on personal conflicts. Some were out of sheer insanity. All were dangerous.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 1)

Day 1: Monkey See, Monkey Don't

The Rogues had just heard the news from Piper. Bart Allen was dead and the speedsters were out for blood. They looked at the video footage in horror, not remembering a moment of what was unfolding in front of them. But there was no mistaking their identities in that clip. They killed a Flash. They broke their own golden rule and now they would have to figure out how to survive a vengeful speedster before it was too late.

Meanwhile, a diverse group of citizens from both of the Gem Cities gathered to make a big decision. Who would they hold responsible for the sudden uptick in crime? It seemed natural to look at Epignosis first. He was a convicted felon who had fooled the police and the Flash throughout his early life of crime. But would he ever attack the entire region on this scale? Epignosis did his best to assure the people that he was just a regular gentleman, like the rest of them. "I swear, I'm reformed this time around! It was probably my wife. She didn't even want to move here!".

Just as the mob was bringing out their literal torches and pitchforks, one of them began frantically rambling about a Gorilla.

"What are monkeys even doing here! He's talking, oh why is he talking?! This is just unnatural, get him away! GET HIM AWAY FROM ME, AHHHHHH!"

The man's behavior was erratic. In his paranoid fit, he bumped into one of the lit torches and was suddenly set ablaze.

Panicking, the crowd started running for the Central City Garden's nearest exit. In their rush, they knocked over the burning Llama and trampled him enough to put the fire out...but unfortunately also enough to crush his body.

Captain Cold and Heat Wave wandered through the streets later that afternoon, hoping to find where their friends, Mirror Master, Weather Wizard, and the Trickster had wandered off to during the commotion. Leonard was also looking for his sister, Lisa, the Golden Glider. They paused and gasped when they saw a charred figure lying on the ground ahead of them. Fearing for their allies, the duo rushed over to identify the victim.

It wasn't one of their partners. Even worse, it was their greatest rival: The Flash. A protector of the Gem Cities was dead, who knows what kind of trouble could sneak into town now? And who will Wally West hold accountable for his friend and predecessor's demise?

It's the exact same as the map I'll be posting, the only thing that's changed is the locations/texture will look a little better and the text for each will be more legible.

Here's the prelim for now. I'll link to it in the OP as well.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 0)

Chapter 1: The Case Is Open

It just so happened that one of the recipients of the mystery man’s visit was Hartley Rathaway, better known as the Pied Piper. Unbeknownst to his former partners in crime, The Rogues, Hartley had cleaned up his act in the past few years, after beginning a relationship with Detective David Singh. Hartley had found new respect for his colleague Barry Allen for keeping his romantic involvement a secret and vouching for him at the Department despite his shady background.

The note left for him by the stranger asked him to perform a very simple task. He was to choose 1 letter out of 5. No following rules were included, no chance to see his visitor again and reveal his answer. How strange…

Piper immediately showed the letter to Singh and Barry. The three men were baffled, debating the best course of action. Was this stranger a threat? Or was he simply another resident of the twin cities who was ever so slightly off his rocker? Perhaps it was just a prank of some kind? Hartley chuckled and said he picked a letter anyways, hoping their mysterious visitor would return and he’d win a prize.

The group was interrupted when a commotion broke out in the holding cells. Barry rushed down to see the jailbirds collectively mashing their hands to the walls of their cells, drawing out symbols…in what appeared to be their own blood. Hurriedly, Detective Singh recovered the keys to the cells and began calming the prisoners down. Barry had seen a lot in his time as The Flash, having met many a dangerous criminal who could also read minds, both on his own and as a part of the Justice League, so he recognized the symptoms immediately. Hell, Hartley himself once made a horde of rats perform a crude rendition of a flash mob at the Flash Museum celebrity banquet, just to send a message. But a Rogue would never kill helpless people, and this was on a whole different scale. The intent was not only malicious, but specific. The perpetrator was leaving a message for everyone in the city, Hartley included.

In each of the 5 holding cells throughout the Central City precinct (as well as 20 of the maximum security cells at Iron Heights on the other side of the river, Barry would later discover), lines were drawn across the walls, resembling a word puzzle. A name was scrawled above each one. Each bloody code had one thing in common with the others. The letter “S” appeared throughout.

Barry was shocked to see one of the names was his own! He took note that there were no word puzzles to be solved under his name, just a very chilling message. It called him out on being The Flash, and revealed how he’d been working on the side to catch Bart’s killer, without the Department’s permission. Barry wiped the message away at incredible speed, while nobody was looking.

Pied Piper left in a hurry when he saw the content of the messages. He had to warn the Rogues. Even if he worked on the other side of the law now, he still considered the group his friends and when he saw secrets about them being spilled in blood, he had to act fast.

Who was behind this dishonorable act? Was it one of his own? Was it the man who visited him last night? Questions shot in and out of the costumed vigilante’s head, ringing like bells. Hartley was sure of one thing. A man like Captain Cold won’t ask questions before shooting if he finds out somebody is trying to cause trouble in his town.

Who’s bleeding the citizens of Central City dry?

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 0)

I put Dom in BwT's place, that's why. >.<

All is well now.

Llama. Rule #8 above is about as strict as I'm gonna get on participation, but if players want to post little, it's at their own risk in a game this demanding.

Edit: Votes are changeable.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 0)

So, it appears Dom is modding, which means I'll be looking for 1 more player. If any replacements are good to go, shoot me a mesage! I'll ask around in the meantime.

Does this Host Color work?

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 0)

Our story begns as all comics do...

With a shocking cover.

Image

The image had been plastered all over the news for the past hour. It had been 5 days, well...117 hours, 38 minutes, and 53 seconds by Barry Allen's estimation since Bart Allen, heir to the Flash Family name, had disappeared. Barry had turned his city upside-down looking for the poor kid, and he'd always had a hunch his old nemesis might have had a role to play in the case, but here it was...the video evidence.

An anonymous citizen had dropped a thumb drive off at the Central City Police Department a short while ago. It showed an eager young man framing a shot of him and Bart, who was hogtied in what looked like a yo-yo and helpless as a group of police lay dead nearby.

"Smile for our selfie, dude! We're gonna rack up so many followers!"

The garishly dressed Trickster placed ha camera on the ground, to film from Bart's perspective. 4 more of the Flash's most dangerous foes stepped into frame. Cold, Heat Wave, Mirror Master, and the Weather Wizard. They called themselves the Rogues, and they were about to earn that name. All 5 took aim with their signature weapons. There was only a short time to hear Bart's muffled objections, and then silence as the footage cut to black.

The public reaction was panic. Barry's was that of sheer anger. He circled the city twice in minutes, finally zeroing in on two of his suspects, Captain Cold and Heat Wave. The duo were sitting at the Keystone Saloon when the scarlet speedster made his entrance, flinging the door open.

Heat Wave had no time to react. Before he could turn around, he was knocked out of his seat and to the floor. Captain Col, however, had grown to respect the presence of such a quick foe patrolling his city. A barrier of air, maintaning a temperature of Absolute Zero, was raised just behind Cold. It felt like running into molasses when Barry hit it, but his Speed Force powers allowed him to survive the deadly trap.

Cold plead his case, shocked that Barry would suspect his disciplined Rogues of killing innocents. But Barry was blinded by a fit of rage and sorrow. He reached his old nemesis and began beating him mercilessly.

Suddenly, a sonic boom shook the building, and Barry was whisked away in a blur of yellow.

When the two Rogues recovered, they glanced to each other and knew what had to be done. They set off to reunite the Rogues for one last job: clearing their names and claiming revenge on whoever framed them.

Meanwhile, Wally West was having trouble of his own. 2 assassinations, a curious outbreak at the local hospital, and ordinary Central City folks acting flat-out berserk, all in the past 3 days? Central was never this busy...

Far to the north, a feared beast set up camp, smirking to himself as he feasted on a guard who had strayed just a little too far from Iron Heights prison. None of this madness was the gorilla's doing. But, he mused to himself, it made it all the more ample of a time to finally defeat The Flash and make a new Gorilla City.

As 25 well-to-do people who called Central and Keystone home settled down that night, each was visited by a mysterious stranger who asked them to do hm one small favor...

..."Choose your fate"

It is now Day 0. You have 42 hours to check in and choose a path in the poll above!

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 0)

Rogue Rules

1. "Rogues Don't Snitch" - No BTSC unless otherwise specified. Role-outing or otherwise publicly revealing information that you've obtained on your own is strictly prohibited.

2. "Rogues Don't Leave a Trail" - Editing or deleting posts is considered taboo in general when it comes to Mafia. This game is no exception.

3. "We All Play Our Parts in the Heist" - Please participate! It makes things easier on everyone if you do.

4. "Rogues Stay Clean" - Off topic posts in sea green, please stick to this as it helps the game out and others catch up better.

5. "Rogues Don't Kill Innocents" - Non players in Blue. Dead players in Red. If you fall in either of these categories no on topic posts.

6. "When All Else Fails, Take Whatever Help You Can Get" - If you have a question for a host post it in Bold underline.

7. "In and Out, There's Plenty of Suckers for Us to Scam" - Don't target the same player two nights in a row. The exception is Rainbow Raider's power, as long as he alters the color of the beam he fires.

8. "Rogues Get the Job Done" - Vote and PM on time. If you miss 2 in a row of either, your next one won't count. If you don't want to use a Night Power, send a PM to tell me. If you have a teammate who is absent/not participating, let me know and I'll sort the situation out.

9. "The Rogues are Family" - Don't take anything personally, don't make anything personal. Have fun with the game. :)

The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 12)

Battle for the Gem Cities

Role Call (25 players):
THE OLD ROGUES (6)
Their roles are as close to a "Civilian" Option that will exist in this game. They may be thieves and robbers, but they have a code of morals. As such, their only win conditions are to eliminate the vile New Rogues and stop Gorilla Grodd's rampage. If Grodd is dead, the New Rogues are dead, and any Old Rogues survive, they win the game.
Image
Captain Cold – He’s the strict and no-nonsense leader of The Rogues. He can use his “Cold Field” to Role Block a player each night. He has BTSC with Heat Wave. Captain Cold is all about “the score”. ~~ a~ ~~~ R~~~e ~s ~~~~~ ~~~~e~, ~e ~~~~ ~a~~ ~ ~~~~~ ~~~~ ~~r ~~s ~~~ ~se.

Heat Wave – A pyromaniac and one of Cold’s closest allies. He has BTSC with Captain Cold. ~~~~e ~er ~a~e, ~e ~a~ s~ar~ a ~~re a~ a ~~~a~~~~ ~~ ~~s ~~~~~e. ~~e ~~re ~~~~ ~es~r~~ ~~e ~~~a~~~~ a~~ ~~~~ ~a~e ~ar~~~~ e~~~~~s ~~ ~~a~ers ~~~ are ~~rre~~~~ ~~ ~~a~ ~~~a~~~~.

The Trickster – The most inexperienced Rogue and a notorious prank enthusiast. Leaves a “trap” on one player during even nights. If that player is ~ar~e~e~, the a~~~~~ ~s re~erse~.
Image
Golden Glider – Searching for her brother every night. If she finds Captain Cold, she will gain BTSC with him and Heat Wave. She may then continue to search for other Old Rogues. She cannot be killed by the Old Rogues.

THE INDEPENDENT ROGUES (6)
These characters wish to continue their schemes without being bothered. They will win simply by surviving until the end of the game.
Image
Captain Boomerang – Most heroes and villains alike consider him to be a bit unpredictable. He can throw a boomerang every night. The boomerang has a fifty percent chance to ~a~~e~ ~~e ~ar~e~’s ~e~~ ~~~~~ ~~~e. If it doesn’t, then ~a~~a~~ ~~~~era~~’s ~~~~~ ~~~e ~~~~ ~e ~~~~~~~e~ ~~s~ea~.

THE NEW ROGUES (7)
As Central and Keystone Cities have developed over time, the villains who plague their citizens have become more and more ambitious. The New Rogues are, for the most part, concerned with spreading destruction and chaos around the twin cities, making a name for themselves by killing superheroes and villains alike. They must survive and eliminate all opposing factions to win the game.

THE "ARCH-VILLAINS" :jedi: (3)
Each of these characters have been The Flash's biggest threat from time-to-time. They have unique conditions for winning that the Rogues are not aware of at this time.

THE DETECTIVES (3)
Wally West and the recently resurrected Barry Allen have joined forces to track down the newest foe threatening their home cities. Using their law enforcement and forensic talents, respectively, they will win if they uncover the mystery of the Gem Cities, and if they manage to imprison the New Rogues. They may choose to imprison the Old Rogues as well, but it is not required.
