I don't have immediate thoughts on Scotty and Cape as a mafia pair. I don't tend to engage in pre-flip associations unless I am assessing ALL associations.

"rand town" or "rand mafia" refers to probability. If someone is "rand mafia", that means they have the standard probability of being mafia (in this game, 4/16 or 25%). If someone is ">rand mafia", they are more likely than the standard probability of being mafia (more than 25%).
I personally don't like using that lingo, but it helps if we all know what it means.

Re: Ted Lasso Mafia - Day 1
That stuff is as often misused as it is used correctly, so it might not be your fault. I see people say things like "Bill is ~rand town", which is essentially a meaningless statement that literally means dead null (but it's intended to mean "town lean"). Indeed, "rand town" and "rand mafia" are identical.

My dude, at that point SVS hadn’t posted much at all, and if im looking for specific vibes and behavior, why would I just out them so she…just doesn’t do them?
Up until this point, I’ve been so paranoid about SVS in games on D1, I need to take a step back. I don’t get the impression as of now that she has the same gameplay as I have seen when she’s bad. But she needs to engage more.
And unfortunately I town read you, even if you don’t give me permission and apparently are deadset on tunneling me, which i (guess??) you are doing

A) I didn't read and fully absorb every line of text in the role list. I grabbed what stood out to me, primarily the numbers ratio, and talked about that. B) An elimination stop one of the absolute strongest abilities a mafia team can possibly have (alongside resurrection, recruitment, and elimination switches). Even if they use it on one of their own and "put a target on them", they cause town to waste an entire day phase and an entire elimination. That is gargantuan power. If it weren't for the "2.5 million" cost attached to it, I would feel like this game is close to impossible for town.
I don't know why you propose I'd "pretend" not to notice that. It's publicly posted, so anyone can find it. I didn't see it.

For what it's worth, I'm reading LC as civ. And I mostly agree with him. Weird. I also thing J3 is probably civ, although keeping a note in my mind that he might just be acting aggressively civ to avoid suspicion, but I'm not feeling that at least for the moment.

This sort of meta read about Scotty suspecting SVS every game can go w/t either way or t/t. The only thing I think it's unlikely to be is w/w. If Scotty suspects SVS every game and both of them know it, mafia Scotty might go out of his way to suspect SVS again or he could change it to pocket SVS. SVS's post felt dramatic, with not much substance other than that it's freaking her out and I'd expect that post to go with a read or investigation on Scotty.

You do know I’m voting you atm right?

In every D1, being blendy is an instant red flag for me. I expect town in most contexts to make declarative and bold reads.Cape90 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 9:22 pm He doesn't feel right, like i know last time i played with scotty basically pocketing him that i was looking through a scum lens, but he is just like posting a lot of weird things and has pointed out blendy beginnings for some reason as if that's totally Alignment indicative

I think her aversion to being town read stems from an older Syndicate era when essentially everyone hated being town read (due to old win conditions).
Perhaps LoRab’s confidence in her town reads of LC and especially of me can be questioned. To suggest my play to that point was “too detailed to be fake” is a bit much.
Posting weird things is a quirk of mine. I’ve been called ‘awkward’ and ‘stilted’ and even ‘cringey’. Which is fine, people need to practice their adjectives. I can remember distinctly in both alignments where I was ‘caught’ as such. One I was very town. One I was very not town. So that is non alignment indicative.
In this case, I’m not really holding back on my thoughts, and I can’t help if you don’t agree with my conclusions

All and all though, these look like independently sussed points and not you just following the crowd.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 10:40 pmIt would be dishonest of me to call them my reasons, because I am kind of sheeping this one right now. But I think some others raised valid gripes or were otherwise convincing:
- Scotty calling Long Con's "unhinged" post towny was goofy.
well gawrsh
- As S~V~S climbs the town ladder, I give her instinct more credence (that Scotty was off in resisting LC's suspicion of her)
- His read on LoRab didn't actually make sense (this thing) -- acknowledging a "difference in approach" with respect to her aversion to town reads and then basically ignoring that difference when suspecting her.
I don’t understand this point. The point I’m making is exactly that her different approach is different and it is me parsing whether or not it is genuine or not
- Bereft has never openly town read Scotty, and I think he has a strong grip on the game right now.
- I decided my own town read was biased by my desire for players to be involved, and he was the first to take up that banner.
I might add one new gripe: his suspicion of you seemed kind of opportunistic. He even agreed with your reads
Damn you. Are you good after all?

Yep.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 10:44 pmI read that the opposite way. Why would wolf Scotty weaken his push by saying he agreed with my reads? I feel like wolf Scotty would just go after me rather than giving credit to my reads especially if one was right. Even if they were both wrong I think he'd either push me harder or pocket me by finding common ground as mafia.
He called your reads of S~V~S and LoRab "half baked" based on frivolities (they "came out of nowhere" or were "not strong", whatever those really mean), and then he granted why they weren't half-baked... all while keeping his vote on you. In this instance, I don't care much about what "mafia Scotty" would or would not be likely to do from the standpoint of "how to handle Thunal", but rather I have to ask "was this ever a real read at all"?
I think you’re looking ahead as if I only vote once in a game and dip. I found Thunal’s reads up to that point half baked, but they weren’t. I’m not even sure I suspect thunal anymore.

You're certainly capable of moving your vote. But if you were reconsidering your Thunal suspicion in that moment, it didn't come across in your post. The message instead seemed to be "Thunal is suspicious. Ironically I agree with Thunal."

We don’t know what elimination stop means though. Yeesh.
B) I don’t think it’s as powerful as you are making it out to be- it feels contextual. Is there an announcement made? Are they removed from the thread? Can they use it only on themselves? I can only see it as a last resort thing for mafia, because it immediately puts a target on whoever it’s used on.
I’m not so sure you didn’t know about this
B) An elimination stop one of the absolute strongest abilities a mafia team can possibly have (alongside resurrection, recruitment, and elimination switches).
