Wow, I bet the Roxy/SVS visit was stellar! I visited Logan last weekend and I literally (in the true sense of the word) could not have had more fun. I even tried cheddar cheese!

a) I start Yoga Teacher Training in September!
b) My annual job performance review was today and it was amazing. The word "haberdashery" was used.
c) Been doing a lot of things with my work bros like kickball league, tubing, barbecues, day cruises, and food tours.

Re: Random~
I was never really into sports, generally, which could be explained at least partially by the fact that I grew up in a household that never really was into sports. We just practically never watched them. Never even cared about the Super Bowl, I've never even watched a Super Bowl more than a few minutes. Many of the aspects of sports I always disliked result from the team-based setup, so naturally tennis appealed to me much more, and presented me with an exception.A Person wrote:It is ok, I'm used to Rico talking about the tennisMovingPictures07 wrote:FREAKING RAIN!!

My parents both played tennis for recreation when they were younger, so I grew up bonding with my parents (but my mother especially) watching Grand Slams. Especially Wimbledon.
Right as I was getting into tennis, I watched the ascent of Roger Federer. He quickly became my favorite and really propelled my interest in the sport. Even though I suck at tennis, Roger's determination, class, and uniquely dominant brand of tennis were really inspiring to me as a teenager. It's been a rollercoaster, watching his rivalry with Nadal, with Djokovic, and his recent struggles.
He's almost 34 years old now, which is certainly "old" in tennis terms, so seeing his inspired play this year, I was really hoping for Slam Number 18. I'm inevitably disappointed. I can't really complain though -- to see him strong and making his way to a Wimbledon final over 10 years after I started watching him, I am happy.
Nonetheless, I'll still be a bit sulky the rest of the day. :P

Shame. He had chances for a two set lead. That second set tiebreak was a beauty and Djokovic really looked vulnerable.
My story and my passion for tennis is basically the same as MP's (minus my parents playing tennis), except that it started with Nadal. Plus, I have an issue with the dominant alpha athletes in sport - whether it's Federer in tennis, O'Sullivan in snooker or you name it, I can never find myself rooting with them. I'd rather see their main archnemesis or challengers (sometimes even underdogs) win or snatch their throne.

I can understand that attitude; I actually tend to be that way myself (I can't root for Serena, ever), but Federer was an exception, I suppose because he helped me really fall in love with the game, and so anyone that threatened him thereafter immediately was met with my respectful disdain. I'd love for some new guy to come in and wipe the floor with Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray.
Somehow I don't think that'll happen any time soon though, despite Nadal's recent rapid descent and Murray's more present vulnerability. Djokovic will likely continue domination for some time.

Yeah, I'm not really seeing the "fairytale" change of guards that Federer had or how the other from the Big 4 gradually came on top. Brats like Kyrgios, Dimitrov and such are very inconsistent. I really wish del Potro would return to form, he's a guy with a big heart, he can play some awesome thrillers and shouldn't be losing valuable years with his injuries. Nishikori is awesome, but I'm not sure if he's here to stay either. But that still is far from saying I can see the next Fed and Rafa, around the corner. Heck, not even at the ice cream stand.

Agreed on everything you said here completely. I'm hoping that, with the inevitable decline of the Big 3 (or Big 4, depending on how you define it), we don't see a barren wasteland that has been plaguing the Women's side much more so in my opinion.Ricochet wrote:Yeah, I'm not really seeing the "fairytale" change of guards that Federer had or how the other from the Big 4 gradually came on top. The last few years, I keep thinking we're going to see that fresh, new talent that will shake up the game once more. I'm still waiting.

I don't usually want to learn anything that would ruin his Henry aura.
I want to hear the opposite of that.
Like:
Some say he goes by the name Insert Name Here.
Some say he became Rust Cohle in True Detective.
Yeah, that's much better.

As an update:
a) I start Yoga Teacher Training in September!
b) My annual job performance review was today and it was amazing. The word "haberdashery" was used.
c) Been doing a lot of things with my work bros like kickball league, tubing, barbecues, day cruises, and food tours.

But man, what a match so far! I was SO HAPPY when Federer pulled off that second set win. Holding out hope...!
I would create a tennis thread, but it would be just me and Rico, so... the Random thread has to put up with me actually caring about a sport around Wimbledon time. :P

Any other tinnitus sufferers out there? I normally have a high-pitched electronic frequency-esque noise in my left ear but today my right ear decided to go all haywire on me. Curious if anyone else struggles with it.
Re: Random~
Almost two years ago my right ear started ringing, it hasn't really quit since but it seems to have lessened to the point where i very rarely notice it, although it is louder on rare occasions.

Freaking Skybots. Freaking Froome.
Two more weeks of yet another snoozefest TdF that is a long, slow, uncontested ride to an inevitable coronation.
At least Bertie got the snot kicked out of him today! Small comfort.
