I'm going with perogies. Not because I get to eat them all the time (they are however very very wonderful) but because they have my 2 favorite foods in them: Pasta and mashed potatoes.

I would give my left hand for a Mary Zifer's Pizza from back home. It was thick crust. Cooked in an old school brick oven. I would order it with both cheeses (the regular colby cheese and the extra mozzerella) with green peppers, onions and mushrooms. I would be the happiest girl that ever ate pizza.

That said - once time at work, I took one of our thin crusts - applied some pesto I brought from home, some artichokes I brought from home, put mozzerella, provalone cheese, my green peppers, onions, mushrooms, feta cheese and chicken on it. Topped it with our garlic shake on seasoning and our oregano. It was pretty frackin' fly too.

A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. It's the book that changed my life.

Also - wtf?!?! - if you don't have a weapon on hand, I liked to use my corkscrew (it was one of those pocket knife style ones) as a makeshift stabby thing. Between the knife on the end and the corckscrew itself, it could do some damage to a face or eye. Also - your keys threaded in between your fingers would work as well for sticking in an eye socket if anyone got too close to you.

k - see - here's the thing, I know you are an awesome and extreamly loveable if not shy fella. Here's a quick to do and to don't list for approaching girls

Do: Talk to them as you are approaching them. Something simple "Hi. My name is Vompi. I was just wondering (fill in blank)

Don't: Just start walking up to them and change your direction of walking with theirs and not say anything.

Do: Make sure said gal can make eye contact with you and you know - see what you look like.

Don't: Wear a cloak that covers every part of you so she can't see your race much less your face and is only guessing at your sex based on how you move.

See...there are differences.

My favorite food is Ribeye steak, cooked at home. Pizza is also a long time favorite of mine.

I make a wing ding of a pizza. Homemade crust with Parmesan cheese and Yuengling Shiner Bock in it. I love all manner of cheeses, especially Mozzarella and ricotta. Nearly any topping is acceptable, but I really like spicy Italian sausage.

Ooooh what kind of horror films are you onto lately? Did you see Insidious? Did I already ask you that? I really super duper liked it although I realize it's quite polarizing. A Tale of Two Sisters is ridonk creepy. I like the cinema verite subgenre, but it's very very hit or miss. I think [REC] is the best one (not counting older ones like Blair Witch) and I think the first Paranormal Activity is pretty scary. Not cinema verite/found footage, but the first Saw was great. I saw that in the theatre and remember thinking I was so smart for figuring everything out, and then the guy on the floor MOVED and I was OMGWTFBBQBYOB wow.

I liked but didn't love Sinister. One of my favorites is Aja's The Others. I don't know if I've ever told you this anecdote, but when I was at UF, I was in seeing The Others in the theatre. At a pivotal scene (the wardrobe), a frat bro runs out the emergency exit. It was very scary so hardly anyone laughed.

I find movies that play upon lack of light very scary because I am very slightly afraid of the dark. Darkness could have been so much better. Evil Dead 1+2 scared me when I was little. Why does anyone ever read things in Latin?

Spiders I guess, the way they look and move is completely unnerving for some reason. I also have a tendency to dislike being near stinging/biting insects but that seems more rational. Ticks are the most vile creatures on earth.

I haven't seen any of the newer ones you mention, but the Others was really good. I tend to like psychological thriller variety horror, but I am also drawn to anything involving the Devil. The Oman is one of my all time favs. I watched the Exorcist when I was a teenager and thought it was totally boring and overrated, but I saw it again recently and loved it.

I have kind of been going through all the ones that are on Netflix instant play, since that is the only access to movies I really have these days. This resulted in my watching all four Scream movies, which was fun. Then I saw The Good Son with Elijah Wood and Macauley Culkin and really liked that. Most recently I saw The LIttle Girl Who Lives Down The Lane with a very young Jodie Foster. Not strictly horror, but it scared me. Recommendations are always welcome.

I get what you are saying about darkness. I have extremely terrible night vision, so I basically turn blind in the dark, even when everyone around me can see. I hate going to haunted houses because they always involve me bumping into things. It tends to be more frustrating than scary though.

I never saw Saw because I tend to dislike gorefest horror in favor of more subtle psychological stuff. Blair Witch was absolutely terrifying when it first came out, but I feel like now that the gimmick has been done I wouldn't really enjoy it again.

Yeah, Dumplings was the first segment, I can still hear the crunching in my mind.

I think my favorite segment was Box.

Out of those I've seen the Park Chan-wook movies (he's the reason why I watched Three Extremes), Ringu, and Battle Royale. I also plan on watching Takashi Miike eventually. Of the rest, I recognize a fair amount of those titles, many because Alan (borokkuei) has mentioned them.

As far as Ringu vs. the remake goes, they are both good films and I like both, but the original seemed to be more about the atmosphere than jump scares, which definitely suites my tastes more.

Do you ever watch Paranormal State? You should watch the episode called I Am Six. They revisit the case later. It's very very scary.

The Caller (2011) was pretty good. I liked several of the segments in V/H/S, but it was largely uneven. I do not recommend V/H/S 2.

I don't know, I am just fascinated by the angel/demon mythology in Christianity. Religious horror is my favorite because you're dealing with the very essence of evil itself, not just some guy with a knife. I really wish they would make a movie about the War in Heaven. We have the technology now to make it look awesome.

There was that Paul Bettany film that looked like it was going to have some epic angel war scenes, but it was a totally misrepresentation of what happened in the film. I can't believe we didn't mention Rosemary's Baby! Ooh or Wicker Man. That's kinda religious horror too, if you are counting cults. One of the segments in VHS 2 is going undercover at a cult. The Sound of My Voice is also about infiltrating a cult. I love the juxtaposition of incredible journalism meets horror.

BTW, Paranormal State isn't a movie, but is a TV show (now defunct). It's available on NEtflix Instant, or at least it was.

That was a very neat concept and although I know it's not ture and I'm a decently rational individual, i still fail to zzzzzzz after watching several clips.

At about 11 pm last night a policeman showed up banging on our door and shining a flashlight into our house. We let him in and he said they had received a 911 call from our number. A couple hours earlier we had heard the phone start to ring for a second and then stop, but otherwise we had no idea why they got the call. We figured it was just the phone doing something weird (there had been a big storm earlier yesterday, so who knows). But the policeman had to come in and check around our house and make a big deal of everything. It was weird

My phone makes randon rings from time to time. I used to think it was someone in another room picking up the phone, but then it happened when no one was home

I hope it doesn't do that *looks at phone*

Anyhow, this morning when I was walking the dog, I felt something on my foot (I had on light canvas sneakers, like keds) and I looked down and it was a bat

I shook my foot and it took off, but I never saw a bat on or near the ground before. Now I am gonna be paranoid walking in the dark.

I couldn't find anything I wanted to hear.

I said to myself, "If I could request a song, I'd call the DJ and ask for Tarkus."

I dialed back to channel 27 just in time to hear, "It's only 20 minutes long," from Earle Bailey.

Tarkus. Boom.
