Civilians (9)
Win Con: The Inmates and Moloch the Mystic are Dead. Be alive.

Bernard the News Vendor
He posts his unsolicited opinions in the thread via the Host.

Joey the Cab Driver
She purchases a Hustler magazine from Bernard each Night; during this time, she tells Bernard the name of a person she isn’t.

Derf
This Knot-Head intimidates someone each Night, silencing that person and making him unable to vote the next Day.

Hollis Mason
The first Nite Owl can use one of his successor’s utilities one time only.

Sally Jupiter
The first Silk Spectre will snoop around her daughter’s personal life; if her target has had BTSC with Laurie, Sally will learn the role of the target.

Dr. Malcolm Long
Walter’s psychoanalyst, in attempting to convince Rorschach that there are good people in the world, can each Night remove someone’s name from the list of people Rorschach needs dead to win.

Janey Slater
Dr. Manhattan’s ex will search each Night for Dr. Manhattan. If she finds him, she learns his identity and his secrets.

Detective Steven Fine
Tracks on Odd Nights. Bourquin gets the result too.

Detective Joe Bourquin
Tracks on Even Nights. Fine gets the result too.

Watchmen (6)
Unlike the Civilians, Watchmen have superior abilities, but have an additional win condition. Also, unlike the Civilians, Watchmen do not need to be alive at the end to win.

Image

Walter Kovacs / Rorschach
"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout, 'Save us!" And I'll look down and whisper, 'No.'"

Whenever a civilian or Watchman is lynched, Rorschach will investigate, and track one of the guilty voters on odd Nights. On even Nights, he may choose to kill or spare the person he tracked.

Win Con: Rorschach does not compromise with evil. Anyone who participates in a civilian or Watchman lynch must be dead for Rorschach to win.

Image

Danny Dreiberg / Nite Owl II
“What happened to us? What happened to the American Dream?”

Nite Owl has an impressive array of technological wonders at his disposal. He can:
  • Apply his advanced polygraph to lie detect one statement.
Use his sonic amplifier to deliver an anonymous message to the thread through the Host.
Reinforce his owl suit to protect himself.
Activate a projectile shield to protect someone else.
Airlift from the immediate area, taking all but four people off the poll.
Scan the perimeter and make an alignment check.
These may only be used once.

Win Con: Nite Owl needs Hollis Mason alive to win. If Hollis Mason is dead, then he needs Derf dead.

Image

Laurie Juspeczyk / Silk Spectre II
“I used to be a masked avenger too, remember... I mean, I’m used to going out at three in the morning and doing something stupid.”

The Silk Spectre will gain temporary BTSC with her target. Her target must claim a role. She cannot gain BTSC with Rorschach, whom she despises. She starts off knowing who her mother Sally is.

Win Con: The Silk Spectre must correctly identify Nite Owl II, Dr. Manhattan, and The Comedian before the end. She can begin with a cold guess, and may update her list at any time until either she is dead or endgame.

Image

Edward Blake / The Comedian
“Once you realize what a joke everything is, being the Comedian is the only thing that makes sense.”

Has one Night kill.

Win Con: Get Night Killed.

Image

Jon Osterman / Dr. Manhattan
“Everything is preordained. Even my responses.”

*Secrets*

Win Con: Presence

Image

Adrian Veidt / Ozymandias
“Do it? Dan, I’m not a Republic Serial villain. Do you seriously think I’d explain my master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome? I did it thirty-five minutes ago.”

Using his vast wealth and intellect, Veidt can manipulate many things. *Secrets*

Win Con: ???

The Inmates (3)
Has BTSC
Kills each Night.

Win Con: Must eliminate the Civilians, the Watchmen, and Moloch the Mystic.

Big Figure
Intimidates someone, buying that person's silence and preventing him or her from voting the next Day. Inherits the kill from Larry or Mike if either of them are dead.

Lawrence
Blocks on Odd Nights. Kills on Even Nights.

Michael
Blocks on Even Nights. Kills on Odd Nights.

Moloch (1)
???
Win Con: Last man standing...maybe.

Image

Edgar Jacobi / Moloch the Mystic

Depends who you ask.

If you ask G-Man, MM, or ricochet, they will probably say yes.

If you ask me, I will say I do not think that would be a good idea for the town. So it's lucky you did ask me!

They are just mad because I've fooled them twice as mafia on this site. But I hope they don't forget that my two other wins here (and recent one at RYM) my civ skills were also pretty helpful.

It will last until the poll ends - poll closing time is written just above the poll. If you go into user control settings, you can set the clock so that it matches your time zone.

Wow, you're not even going to be subtle and sneaky with me this time? Perhaps that's because you have reason to be afraid this game. Taking a joke from pre-game and trying to use it to cast shade on me looks pretty cheap and bad. Golden the Coward indeed. ;)

I intend to keep my rainbow lists to myself from now on, unless they point to an obvious baddie. Sticking my neck out got me killed in Biblical and Guess Who, so maybe I should revert to cryptic and mysterious. That served me well enough in Economics.

I was only kidding around in pre-game but since Golden chose to bring that into the game to stir crap up against me, I may be inclined to follow this course of action.

"Fooled" is hardly the case. The manipulative rat fink played me like a sucker in Guess Who by using my vote analysis against me to provide himself some darn good cover. His cunning and guile were apparent in Economics only at the end of the game. But he was really just lucky in that game because he subbed back into a cushy spot. He also proved himself a coward in that game- never forget! Both of these sins wash away all the good feelings built up during Biblical when we were the dynamic duo of Goldie-Lot and Ass Man. In retrospect, he was probably just using me to do all the vote analysis work for him after I died. :pout:

As for the Day 0 poll, here's my thought process:

I have never seen the Watchmen movie nor read the comic books. That leaves me with no knowledge of any of the poll options or how they might be worth investigating.

What I do know is that Malin Akerman is in the Watchmen movie as Silver Spectre. Malin Akerman has that ridiculously gorgeous Swedish thing going on. I'll break from my usual even-keeled line of thought and say something that's probably sexist: I wouldn't mind searching through the contents of Silver Spectre's bedroom apartment. ;)

Yay game!

I love the radio in the first post, Epi, that was pretty sweet. I hope you continue to utilize this method for your host posts!

I'm very excited to be playing this game with all of you! :)

Especially with some of you:
- Cookie, espers, and Scotty, whom I've never played with before
- LoRab, whom I haven't played with in WAY too long
- Russ and DH, whom I haven't played with in too long
- DDL, who has come from NF again to play with us
- Sloonei and espers, who have come all the way from RYM to join us

...I could continue, so, yeah, pretty much all of you for various reasons. :P

Good to see you, too, Mooby!

G-Man, I for one, prefer transparency (yes, MM) in civilians, and I personally loved your rainbow lists. I don't think anything "served you well" in Economics, either, since you were the most mafia-seeming civilian I've seen all year. :srsnod:

Golden wrote:I just want to warn you all that I'm pretty sure G-Man wants to kill me and I find this highly suspect.

IMO, you're an outstanding mafia, but you're an even more outstanding civilian, so I do not support a policy lynch of you -- or anyone else -- for that matter.

I haven't read comics or seen the movie either, but the theme seems pretty neat, and from what little I have uncovered from reading the roles and doing a little outside research, I do agree that Rorschach seems badass. Since I don't believe we have any reason to choose any particular option over another, and overanalyzing the Day 0 poll clearly was pointless in Roger Rabbit (Golden :P ), I'll follow this vote.

Gonna vote for Ozy's apartment. Going by the comic, Rorschach's journal is a great source of information, but the story has just begun and he is probably still starting to investigate.

While Ozy,
Spoiler: show
being the villain of the story, is probably putting some master evil plan in motion and knows more than every watchman combined.

For Cookie and espers, here is a post I made in the Speed game 2 games ago, Economics, regarding Day 0:
MovingPictures07 wrote:Yay game!! :yay:

Very excited to be playing this awesome game, especially with the players who are new to The Syndicate!

I forgot to mention Day 0 in the sign-ups thread when you folks were asking about it. It is a tradition that developed back in the Lostpedia and associated mafia forum days before I started playing (2010), since I'm not completely aware of its origin.

That said, hosts typically utilize Day 0 for any combination of the following:
- Ease players into the game and make sure that all of them will be active participants
- Introduce the players to the theme off of which the game is based
- Provide something for Day 1 discussion
etc.

Traditionally, when I first started playing, hosts generally set up Day 0 polls in a fashion wherein there were several options, each of which benefited a certain group (i.e., civilians, mafia team 1, mafia team 2, SK). Often some players would have 'information' on the poll, with the host telling them which option would benefit their group. After the winning selection's results were demonstrated either immediately or later in the game, it gave not only the winning faction an item or ability to be used to help later on, but provided another piece of possible evidence on which to analyze whether someone is civilian or mafia.

Since the inception of The Syndicate, those types of Day 0 polls have largely fallen out of fashion, and the purposes seem to be more variant. I've seen Day 0 polls that were completely meaningless, some that awarded prizes individually (rather than factions), and some that have had a significant impact on the game. For example, in my recently hosted Death Note game, I gave the players the option to select from 8 different options for the lynch procedure for the remainder of the game. The option with the most votes is how all lynches would proceed for the remainder of the game (though I left that ambiguous, as some interpreted it might be Day 1 only).

Despite the varying uses for Day 0 polls on The Syndicate, perhaps the most common usage of Day 0 polls is to give players a fun way to interact before things get very serious during Day 1 (and an opportunity to nerd out about the theme) as well as possibly offer individual prizes, such as an extra lynch vote to be used at any time or removal from the Day 1 poll.

If I had to guess, since Russ came outright and said that no player has info, I would believe this poll probably falls into that category.
Hope that answers any questions.

If it wasn't for Golden, the civilians wouldn't have won Biblical or Roger Rabbit, so... I can provide counterexamples for practically every example.

Is anyone here seriously considering a policy lynch option for Day 1? I just don't think it's wise.
