X-Men Mafia

Whereas Masters of the Universe took us all over a planet, X-Men will keep us...in one room.

Expect heavy manipulation.

X-Men
Must defeat The Brotherhood, The Sentinels, and Apocalypse

Image
Cyclops
Optic blasts make his vote worth three. As the leader of the X-Men, he determines the outcome of all ties.

Image
Storm
Alters the weather. *Secrets*

Image
Wolverine
His healing factor reduces his received votes by 4. If he is targeted, he can one time choose to take revenge and kill the targeting person the next Night using his adamantium claws.

Image
Gambit
On three occasions, whenever Gambit decides to draw, a card is drawn from a standard deck of playing cards. Blackjack values (Aces count as ones) determine what Gambit’s vote that Day is worth. Face cards and tens mean his vote is worthless. Gambit will not know what his vote is worth. Luck of the draw…

Image
Rogue
Steals the power of her target to use that same Night.

Image
Iceman
Freezes his target; that person cannot speak nor vote the next Day.

Image
Beast
Using his scientific skill, Beast may analyze someone at Night and learn how that individual’s vote / received vote is manipulated for the next Day. Alternatively, using his agility, Beast may forgo the report and rescue someone from death.

Image
Colossus
Turns into steel each Night. Cannot be Night killed.

Image
Nightcrawler
Teleports if he ends up with the highest number of votes. Cannot be lynched.

Image
Bishop
For every five votes Bishop receives, he can perform a Night kill.

Image
Psylocke
A psionic assassin, she has two Night kills.

Image
Forge
A genius inventor, Forge designs new technologies to help his allies. Each Night, he selects someone to receive his invention.

Image
Jubilee
Blinding two targets with fireworks, she switches their targets.

Image
Archangel
Removes someone from the lynch poll each Day.

Image
Jean Grey
Using telekinesis, she will redirect someone's Night target.

Image
Professor X
Telepathically searches the minds of three individuals each Night, seeking his X-Men. He must think of three X-Men roles and target one person. If his hypothesis is correct, he gains permanent BTSC with that individual. Additionally, Professor X will provide his guidance to the thread nightly.

The Brotherhood
Has BTSC
Wins as a team by eliminating the X-Men, The Sentinels, and Apocalypse.

Image
Magneto
The master of magnetism, Magneto targets one person at Night. On odd Nights, that person will receive the votes of two other selected targets the following Day. On even Nights, that person’s received votes may be halved and distributed evenly to two other selected targets.

Image
Pyro
Anyone who targets Pyro takes 2 received votes the next Day.

Image
Toad
Silences and prevents a person from voting each Night.

Image
Blob
Blocks his target on odd Nights.

Image
Juggernaut
Blocks his target on even Nights.

Image
Mystique
*Secrets*

Image
Sabretooth
Kills on odd Nights.

Independents

Image
The Sentinels
Anti-Mutant technicians hacked the Danger Room so that it can develop Sentinels. This program may construct a sentinel if it receives no votes during the Day. While the program’s initial vote is worthless, each constructed sentinel will increase the program’s vote by one. *Secrets*

Image
Omega Red
Receives three votes after each Night due to his deadly pheromones, which are cumulative. Each Night, Omega Red may choose to wrap his carbonadium coils around two people and drain them for two votes each. His targets will have 2 received votes the next Day, and Omega Red’s received vote total is reduced by 4 (Omega Red's benefit is cumulative). If he chooses not to do this, he can opt to kill that Night. Arkady Gregorovich must eliminate four specific roles he will select in the beginning and then survive.

Image
Apocalypse
Believer in the Survival of the Fittest. Cannot be lynched. Cannot be Night killed. *Secrets*

This game will be so epic!

So where should be begin our training? My first thought looking over the places and remembering watching the show, most of the options was where they encountered a major villain arch, so I kind of want to start at Xavier School for Learning to maybe help find other X-men team mates?

I'm not sure what any of those options are so I randomized and got the first one!

I don't know much (anything) about the Xmen, and I have no idea about the options in the poll so I'm going to have to go on what other people say about each option. I only played because this is an Epignosis game. :)

I agree, the School makes tons of sense. We can learn what we need to know, and meet who we need to meet.

I'm not a particularly huge X-Men fan, I've followed stories every now and then but I can't say I'm familiar with most of the poll options so I'll look a few of them up before I vote but I do agree the Xavier Institute would seem like a pretty good starting point.

Also - Yay, new game! :)

The 2 positions part was there before the game filled up as like a countdown from whatever number of spots were free when Epig first wrote that post. I'm guessing after the last two signed up it was just kept in to look cool or something.

Sounds like the way to go, then. I don't know much about being an X person, so a training institute makes sense. Plus that is apparently where the Danger Room is located.

Time to bring your A-game now.

I have some degree of knowledge about the X-men universe, and I think that "Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters" is the best place to start. Since the program got the name wrong.... :P

Unless it's referring to the period of time in which the school was renamed to the option in the poll. In which case, I might have to bone up on a specific period of X-men lore.

yeah, i agree, the school seems like the best place to start, considering it's the place we're already most familiar with, it'd be the easiest place to do simulation training in.

Woo-hoo, game is ON!

Xavier's School is definitely a safe start. I have to wonder about this poll. It is asking for an order of events, so whatever order they go in terms of votes, maybe that will be the day 1 theme, followed by the day 2 theme etc?

As such, I'd suggest that we definitely keep Xavier's School front and centre, but come up with a list of other positive choices to get second and third place etc.

Or would it make more sense to mix and match? If this will influence each day one at a time, it would stink to run into a whole pile of bad days in a row.

Anyway, as someone who read the X-Men comics religiously in the '80s and early '90s (and still have a continuous run of about 225 issuesin a box somewhere), I'll break down the choices as much as I can for people.

Asteroid M_ - Magneto's base orbiting the Earth.

Cape Citadel_ this was a missile base Magneto attacked in early comics. I'm not sure how it would play here.

Genosha_ - an island where mutants are enslaved. Not a very good place.

M-Day_ I had to look this one up on wikipedia, but I think its purpose in this game is fairly evident: "The storyline focuses on the ramifications of the Scarlet Witch stripping nearly all of the mutant population of their powers, thereby reducing a society of millions to one of scant hundreds. "

The Morlock Tunnels_ - where the Morlocks live (durp). They are bad, the their tunnel is bad.

Muir Island_ home of Dr. Moira MacTaggert, a friend of Prof. X. It has a research lab and is generally a positive place for the X-Men.

New York City (During the Evacuation)_ - not sure about this one at all.

The Savage Land_ - this was a poplar Marvel Comic locale for the X-Men and my second-fave Spider-Man. It's a land of dines and things like that in Antarctica (of course). I don't know of any particularly bad thing about the place, so I see this as a neutral choice.

The Shi'ar Empire Starship_ - I believe this was where the Brood came from. they look ilk the aliens from the movie Aliens essentially, are vicious killers, and have a lot of nasty run-ins with the X-men. This is a bad news option.

Xavier Institute for Higher Learning_ - Home of the X-Men in traditional stories, i.e. not using big Apocalyptic story lines where their whereabouts are scattered etc.

So there you go.

If I'm right and order of settings = order of events in the game, I'd suggest voting up Xavier's School, Muir Island second and maybeThe Savage Land third? The rest are wither unknowns to me, or seem like they are bad news. As such, I'm voting Muir Island since the school has a lot of votes.

The question/statement for the poll does say "confirm the order..." so I agree with the thought that says we should vote in an order we want. Since I know nothing I'm going to take the suggestion to vote for Muir Island.

I don't see much of an issue with it, honestly. I think picking a "safe" option for Day 1 seems like a wise thing to do. And it sounds like we might have good options for our first 3 figured out. Sounds logical to me.

Going by this option, I think I'm going to switch my vote to Savage Land. It doesn't have any votes yet and sounds like it might be a good third option.

Why are you trying to make people choosing the school look bad? If you don't like that choice, don't vote for it. But why imply that people making that choice are weak or traitors?

Do you have a motive for wanting people to not go to the school?

I think trying to do the school will help find other X-Men and/or give some of the X-Men a boost. I also re-read the roles and saw Xavier is looking for them to gain BTSC, so there or Muir Island that has a giant cerebro machine would probably be best for our first adventure team. Just a thought.
