Oh, they're used to that aggressive line of questioning.
All the more reason I think that, if she is being honest, she would have been more direct. Literally every single one of her posts smells of manipulation in:
- Trying to discredit the accusations as coming out of nowhere, false, overblown, etc., multiple times
- Trying to play up my behavior as emotionally-charged, and therefore untrustworthy multiple times
- Trying to shrug off her thoughts earlier as if it's all meaningless -- if so, why say you are leaning civ if you're just going to turn around and vote that person later with no explanation?
- Trying to provide sloppy explanations for her thoughts
I just feel as if she was being honest that, even if she failed to explain her train of thought, there would still be able to be established an understanding. She FINALLY started doing that in the most recent post to Jay, but that should have been done from the very beginning.
That's why I just went ahead and voted for her. I won't lie that I'm nervous, but I feel this is all really solid stuff, and we need to get her lynched to most likely catch a mafia today.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 2]
I want to hear reads from both of my top suspects (Bass and Elo). I can't post much today, but their contributions for the rest of this Day phase will decide my vote.
I ask for reads to provide clarity on their play and maybe help clear your names, if I like the reads. So, uh you two, got any thoughts?

where i agree with you both is that Elohcin could stand to be less dismissive of her accusers. i don't think it's hard to understand why the things we've all pointed to are being viewed suspiciously, and an earnest townie should acknowledge that.
so, Elohcin: how reasonable do you feel it is for other players to be suspicious of you right now? just give me a frank answer, even a number on a 1-10 scale if you like.

i'd assume it's possible, yes (that Adam Smith made Malthus kill himself). but who knows? we'll see about that after Night 2 based on who dies and how many.

i already analyzed the people who voted for Golden. i'll look back to the last hour or so of Day 1 and see who did not vote for him during that critical stretch. maybe someone was content to avoid a known townie bandwagon.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 2]
I remember birdwithteeth's vote standing out because it seemed like he was the only one to go for Bass without giving any reason, but I looked back and realized that's wrong and he stated agreement with my case in this post: http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 34#p143634
that looks good and i approve, but for the sake of skepticism I'll say it's possible he could just be scum hopping on an easy and pre-established case, and one that didn't have as much momentum as some of the others and thus wouldn't be as likely to result in an actual lynch that day.

seemingly a few people voted during that final stretch without actually making a post to indicate it. unless i'm missing them. it's hard to tell because there are no timestamps for the poll votes. and that is making it difficult for me to assess players thoroughly.

I'm having a hard time keeping track of this game. sorry guys, haven't even done my reread of the new guys. I'm probably going to vote for one of the people with a shady day 1 vote. So far I am leaning TH, only because I think Elo is explaining herself a bit better then TH. Maybe I am a little bit clouded by my last experience with a civvie Elo in Roger Rabbit.
Does anyone have any logical reasoning that Gman could still be cursed?

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 1]
I don't understand such an early vote. I mean, you talk about not milking the noob card, but then go ahead and vote 30 hours before the poll deadline? That's 30 hours of other conversations and ideas that could come up that you can't take advantage of to make an informed vote.TinyBubbles wrote:Ooh sneaky, maybe I'll have to recant my opinion about you being a good guyJaggedJimmyJay wrote:i was just looking for your response so i could gauge whether you really didn't realize Epi is dead or milked the noob card.TinyBubbles wrote:If you're asking would I be willing to vote to confirm Epi was mafia then yes I would.
at the moment my top suspect is probably Elohcin. i'll re-evaluate everyone later in the day phase though and see where i stand. i don't like to hold stubbornly onto Day 1 suspicions moving forward in a game.
I'm not milking the noob card I just skim a lot and miss things, it's as lame as that >_>
Anyway, I'm just gonna go ahead and Vote Elohcin. I'm assuming you're not a lying dirty wolf in sheep's clothing misleading me; apart from Bass I don't really know who else to vote for and don't really want to spend more time on it. Elohcin if you're innocent i'm TRULY SORRY and to everyone else, please don't bandwagon. I don't want to be responsible for lynching an innocent. That's probably what got Golden killed.

Yes. I feel like it is more similar to her most recent baddie game I can remember.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:have you noticed similarities between the Elo of this game and the Elo of that game?fingersplints wrote:Maybe I am a little bit clouded by my last experience with a civvie Elo in Roger Rabbit.
Also, I feel like I have suspected Elo a lot for bandwagoning. So while her vote is weird I am not sure that it is that weird for Elo. And I am a bit wary that no one so many people seem to be ok with lynching her.
linki @ Sloonei - Bass is Roxy's son, and that is why I asked her opinion of him earlier. She can read him very well, so if she says he is alright I believe it for now.

TinyBubbles, why don't you want to spend more time thinking about your vote? you have quite a long time before the deadline, and who knows who else might influence you? how you might feel yourself? and why trust me so thoroughly as you just drop a vote on the one name i gave you as a suspect?
1) Possibly he's buddying up to you, and wants you to think he's a civ by comparison.
2) If Elo is lynched and flips civ, he could use it as a way to put responsibility on you. I.e. "I only voted Elo because I agreed with JJJ" or something along those lines.

How do votes normally play out on this site? Is it typical for some players to cast votes super early in the day, as we've seen a bit of today? Or do people usually wait for the end of the phase before using it?
On RYM we usually have unlimited vote changes and everyone's voting and unvoting every twenty seconds.

This is definitely abnormal; it's custom for votes to be cast as late as possible, unless there is a significant reason otherwise.
I take full responsibility for my early vote. I believe I've given Elo every possible chance to prove her civilian behavior and I don't see it.
BWT, if you feel my early vote is unwarranted after you've read all my thoughts on the matter, so be it, but I think I've been more than clear.

I'm also incredibly intrigued as to why sanmateo thinks I'm "definitely bad" because I'm not.

The most I've played at once is 5. It's definitely intense. :PJaggedJimmyJay wrote:i've never played in more than one mafia game at once. i dunno how y'all can deal with 2 or 3

The answer: all of them, if you are a marmot.

Yes, that was so insane, lol.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:when y'all were spectating Turnip Head in champs game #3, did your brains melt when 300 different players all claimed cop?
I'm definitely taking advantage of mafia norms elsewhere to introduce to folks here. But I also plan on enjoying continuing to subject others to our ways of insanity as well. It's refreshing to play different approaches, in my opinion.

Splints, can you explain what it is you see that's similar about Elo's game here to her civ game in RR? I'm not seeing it, but it's possible you're catching something that I'm not.
I've explained away so many players' behavior in past games due to meta. I'm sticking to my guns here, even in spite of Elo's meta (since I think this is baddie Elo), since I've already cast my vote, but I'm hoping you can illuminate this matter nonetheless.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 2]
And, to clarify, I know I've said I am really busy, and I am, but toward the latter part of last week I've been able to shift some of my work around, as well as devote practically every moment to this game, and today I'm giving myself a day off since my SAS class ended yesterday.
That said, I have a take home final, my replication, a different paper, and some other things to work on, so those are all reasons that I will almost certainly hardly be around at all tomorrow.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 2]
Usually, it takes me a few cycles to really get into a mafia game and start to go with some of my own ideas. So usually for Day 1, I look for something to catch my eye and I often get accused of piggybacking or parroting other peoples' ideas. Although I tend to think that I still add my own thoughts in there.Sloonei wrote:I remember birdwithteeth's vote standing out because it seemed like he was the only one to go for Bass without giving any reason, but I looked back and realized that's wrong and he stated agreement with my case in this post: http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 34#p143634
that looks good and i approve, but for the sake of skepticism I'll say it's possible he could just be scum hopping on an easy and pre-established case, and one that didn't have as much momentum as some of the others and thus wouldn't be as likely to result in an actual lynch that day.
I still don't feel good about Bass. But I definitely want to hear more from everyone that voted early. Especially as to why they didn't hold off on voting until later with more discussion and information.
