At least this game now has the record of my 2nd most posts in a game ever, after Doctor Who.

Yeah you played this game here a lot better than the one there. You were pretty obvious on that game, but here you've done a pretty good job as town.Turnip Head wrote:I have no problem with how Banks went after me in that game btw. We spent the entire last phase in the skype chat calling Banks and Yates stupid for taking so long to lynch you. It was epic as fuck.

MP's tinfoil was hilarious too.
I haven't been watching those games since game 3, either. It's just way too many posts. I intend to come back for the finals, though. I still want to see a game with both Jay and Pizza in them. And perhaps banks if he gets wildcard. I think the forum would implode due to she sheer activity.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 6]
I just don't see how his bad votes really benefit mafia. The non-vote in the BR lynch would risk him a host punishment when he could have just jumped on the bandwagon and reaped the results. The Roxy vote was easy as hell for mafia to jump in since she probably told them she was leaving, and yet sanmateo decided to be the one guy who calls the attention to himself. The Bass vote was already decided at the point he voted, unless mafia used items... which they didn't. He keeps attracting heat to himself without any benefit.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:DDL, what makes you lean slight town on sanmateo?
It comes down that sanmateo isn't playing a safe game at all. He is tunneling hard on his gut reads, he is yelling at people he disagrees with no matter how others think well about them, and he is questioning the game. He is failing but at least he seems to be trying.
Of course it could be all an elaborate scheme, but that's WIFOM territory. I don't think he has any credibility to be a strong town read, but the fact that he hasn't spent the game pusrsuing such credibility makes me think he's unlikely to be mafia.

I guess his claim of being a skeptic means being skeptical to the notion that telling someone to kill themselves because you don't like how they play mafia is wrong?
Anyway, his suicide wishes were unpleasant enough, but imo what makes his behaviour really disgusting is how he responds to being called out on it. weareking told you he was depresse and you respond with jokes and being a smart-ass?

Shitty behaviour, depending on the context and degree, may not make one inherently a bad person (in his case it does imo). What often matters is whether and how one corrects oneself (which he has spectacularly failed to do at all).

I actually was leaning scum on Turnip despite not being able to peg his game as either bad or civ until I figured the seer theory. I couldn't stop explaining his behavior as anything logical than seer game or the worst scum game I've ever seen him play. Just didn't see it as a vanilla townie game. Sorry, Turnip. :P
You just have an amazing scum record and you've pulled off some amazing play, so I was a bit surprised when my seer theory fell apart.

Mafia is a heated game. We all have our moments. But the difference is being able to own up to behavior that crossed the line and make an attempt to resolve it.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 6]
It's all a matter of whether you and your opponent are in the same page. If you've both a agreed to play a game where you call each other scum and liars, you should be fine with it. But sometimes one player goes further than what the other had actually agreed on, and shit happens.MovingPictures07 wrote:QFTacrosstheaether wrote:Shitty behaviour, depending on the context and degree, may not make one inherently a bad person (in his case it does imo). So you have to use your common sense and know when to stop. But remember the game always has some limit, even if you are having trouble seeing where it is.

A lot of people who labels themselves as skeptic have been pretty awful people in my personal experience. Like they would open their minds so much that their brains fall out, go on to question and deny basic moral principles etc.

I like that quote hehe. Don't do that!

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 6]
Day 6: Decisive
Having proven that the trinity was, in fact, possible, the group felt very confident as they began the day's discussion. So confident, in fact, that they had decided the lynch by breakfast. As they sat about a table munching cornflakes, all of them cast their ballots for aether. Golden was too absorbed with eating his Golden Crisp, though, and missed the box. "Oops," he said sheepishly, only half looking up.
The rest of the day was spent with a good deal of relaxing, some more competitive music (a popular hobby among economic geniuses, it seems), and prayers to the Sun God to hurry his charge's crossing of the sky.
Finally, the day did come to an end, but not the end that many had hoped. They chucked aether out another tall window (which was, disturbingly, also getting to be a bit of a group pastime). They were just about to walk out the front door to announce their plan to save Europe when a letter popped in through the letter slot. They tore it open, wondering what it could be. "The Dutch have decided that we will, in fact, continue to collect taxes, starting with taxes on the internal economy of the Hague as a test group. We believed you people would be a boon to us, but funding your drinking is getting to be expensive. Sincerely, the Flying Dutchmen and Women" (The Flying Dutchmen and Women, of course, being the Dutch Parliament.) (The letter, being in Dutch, also contained a great number of goofy extra vowels, but has been edited for our very international audience.)
acrosstheaether has been lynched. She was Rothbard.
As a result of Rothbard's death, taxes have been reinstated. All players will immediately pay a tax.
It is now Night 6. You have roughly 22 hours to send in your PMs.

RIP aether.
I hope you hang around here at TS!
I was really hoping the game would be over, because now I have to write a sermon for tomorrow and my mind will instead be occupied with who is bad. I'm going to try and be good and not pop in during this night phase but I dare say I'll fail a couple of times.
JJ, I think a proper bass/not-aether analysis for the rest of us would be a good idea now.
And damn!

And damn!

Why did Australia get an entry at EUROvision?

general statement to all: if you're a townie you'd be well-advised to cram as much into this game as you can within your own time constraints during this night phase. we might legitimately be in a Crisis Situation now and a sense of urgency is needed.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [NIGHT 6]
Yeah, my own time constraints being very bad in this case
Murphy's law.
I'll try and pop in from time to time when I need a brain break and focus on quality over quantity.
There are two things I feel the need to think about especially - one is Vomps, what can we figure out about him. Right now I'd lean a vomps lynch, but its possible we may actually be able to glean some information. The second is whether or not tomorrow is better with a split vote (to flush out any vote manipulations) or a unanimous vote if we could agree one (to avoid the risk of any vote manipulations). Also, does anyone know if vomps pays enough attention and plays in a way where he'd bother with stuff like butter and guns?
And days are only 24 hours? When was that said. That's even rougher, because normally I'm away from a computer more or less all of Sunday as well. I'll have to find a way to borrow someone elses.
