Tonight was supposed to be geek trivia. I got so excited and even wore my DW/Zelda shirt, and then the host didn't show up and it was regular trivia

Re: Frisky Dingo [DAY 0]
What... I like rainbow lists. It helps me organize other peoples' thoughts in my mind. I'm a visual person so maybe that has to do with my preference. I've never made my own rainbow list (although I've only just learned what they are in Watchmen).DharmaHelper wrote:Totally stoked to start playing this game! I’m pretty sure I’ve played at least one game with most of you, but if I haven’t, hello new guys! My strategy this game is going to be a little fast and loose, but I’m ready to wreck face.
Does anyone have any questions for me? Really nervous since I haven’t even seen a single episode of this show… Anybody know who Brent/Trent are? Killing one of them is gonna be an interesting decision, and I feel like I’d make a better choice if I knew more about them. Every Day 0 Poll is almost always nerve wracking.
Who wants to take bets on the first person to ask if anyone has poll info? At least there are only two options. Seems less likely there would be too much oddness with just two options to go off of.
The one problem I can see us running into pretty early is the lack of activity from some of the newer folks, but I’ll hold off judgement on that until more people start to trickle in or the days start to tick by, whichever comes first. Having inactive players (however intentionally) is only going to hurt the civs as the game goes on; having just won a game based on that, I don’t plan on tolerating it if I can help it. Everyone needs to pitch in.
This post is getting a little long but it’s late so it will probably be my only post of the night, better to make it count. Happy to be playing a full game again! I don’t think I could handle a 24/24 game again so soon after Watchmen. Ready to take my time and read everything carefully. Don’t expect me to fuck around with ISO’s or rainbow lists or whatever though.
Rainbow lists, as (inexplicably) popular as they’ve gotten, piss me off because they are annoying and serve no real legitimate purpose. Others obviously disagree, but I figure I’d best get my thoughts on the matter out early; I won’t hold it against anyone who wants to make one, but I won’t really hold those lists in a high regard either. But that’s probably my stubbornness influencing my game. I don’t adapt well to change. Now before I get too ramble-heavy, I’m gonna bounce outta here; bye guys!

I saw mention of the 8-ball earlier. What is the opinion on dice-rolling for day 1 here? Specifically, a rainbow dice where every side has its own special color tags, which would be entirely different from a normal dice.

Re: Frisky Dingo [DAY 1]
Like SVS said, it could be a reaction. From a different angle, could also be very early bussing of a teammate? Could be just random, since that's what pretty much everyone will end up doing on Day 1. Too many possibilities to speculate.MovingPictures07 wrote:Alright, game-related question for everyone:

If I were Xander Crews, this would be my first message, sent tonight:
"Hello Xtacles. First thing's first, we have to identify ourselves to each other. After the Night is done and you get this message, you will hide a code in your second post of Day 2. Your 6th word of that post will begin with an 'f', your fourteenth word will begin with a 'g', and your sixteenth word will begin with an 'h'. Look for each others' posts, identify each other as I identify you.
From that point on, we must coordinate your nightly PMs. You must pay attention to each others' signals, or this cannot work. You will signal your target using a code. The last word of your post will be a number, which will indicate which vote you are in the order. Obviously, this word will be "one", "two", "three", "four", "five", or "six". It will be followed by a Smiley to indicate which player you will be targeting.

If you posted twice before reading this PM, then you can still pull the escape chute to identify yourself with the phrase, "I think I need to light a candle" at some point during the phase. You will know who I am when I say "One more time around the mulberry bush, eh boys?"
Let's stay focused and do this by the numbers. I would like to suggest the first three targets to protect me every night - that, combined with helping me not get lynched by day, makes me very hard to kill.
The next three targets could protect one of you, or just use two to roleblock someone.
If the first targeter targets someone who is not me or you, then it is a signal that they wish to kill that person. Then we can kill and then roleblock. That's cool too.
I'll check in every night and talk about how things are going. Good luck out there!"
Something like that. Maybe I'd go over it a few more times with a fine-toothed comb in order to be prepared for whatever eventuality.

You've earned my vote Sir Long Con.

Re: Frisky Dingo [DAY 1]
This post has been in my head.
But this remark from Eloh got me thinking. If Epi was sober during this it doesn't feel so jokey anymore.
This whole conversation felt false to me. I kind of think Epi was trying to bus MP~ and maybe MP asked him to back off. So he turned to low posters not even halfway through day one, lol. In any case, I don't want to commit to this yet. But I wanted to throw the option out there. I would like to see how they react to this. Since on the other hand this would be somewhat sloppy for Epi, not nearly Byzantine enough.
A few other random thoughts~ I always find self imposed posting restrictions to be suspect. It's a nice way to be cryptic, and avoid actually answering questions and participating while being memorable and leaving people with a smile on their faces. So G-Mans Magic 8 Ball also has my eye, especially if he keeps it up after Day One.
And re Xander & the Xtacles~ I think some sort of coordination is built into the game, or llama would not have given Xander the messaging power. Hopefully Xander used LCs idea & sample post to ask the host the right questions re what is and is not allowed. Without BTSC, thread coordination is what the civvies have.
Also I hate ranking lists, rainbow or otherwise. In a two baddie game, it's just a shopping list for baddies, and I tend to suspect people who make them in 2 bad team games. This has 1 set of baddies and then baddies lite~ the set up reminds me of the set up in HSK a bit, except for the Xtacle Asploder. So I won't find it all that suspicious if others do it, but I am unlikely to be doing it myself. Perhaps later in the game when I have better impressions of everyone.
My initial reaction to Epi dogging MP was that Epi was just having fun, maybe trying to do MP a favor the week before his wedding and get him lynched. This was reinforced for me when Epi mentioned Daisy. Then this comment about staking his Mafia reputation on MP being bad, kind of a joke playing on something that happened in Watchmen.Elohcin wrote:This game has been so fun to read so far. Sorry it took me so long to get into Day 1. Four and a half hours left and I have no clue who I want to vote for. I don't see anyone standing out with mafia behavior but with so many new (to the syndicate) players, it will be hard to tell. Plus several players have yet to say anything or much.
@ G-Man - do you plan on keeping this gimmick up all game? How will be know your suspects or how will you make a case for anyone. I do think your gimmick is pretty awesome this game. It would be really cool as an insanifier. However, I am not sure you can actually play the game this way. Am I underestimating the G-Man?
I went to bed close to 11pm and he wasn't drunk at the time. I think its said this post was around 11:30 or so.Epignosis wrote:At my age, I stop counting. 14 is a close mark.MovingPictures07 wrote:Not possible, my friend.Epignosis wrote:But...but...what if I'm right?MovingPictures07 wrote:Lol. The only thing that pings me for a vote is MM's vote for LC.
He quotes a post and said it reminded him of a rainbow reads list and then said it earned LC his vote
His list had nothing to do with reads and had everything to do with coordinating civvies for a better chance at working together. So my vote is going there later if nothing else occurs to earn my vote.

Any reason you went with Cookie over ika? You made a comment about him earlier. Or any of the other low poster/no shows for that matter?

I definitely agree, as someone who is always a top poster and gets frustrated at people who skate through games not posting. However, I think 48 hour days have more potential for greatness, when players do actually take advantage of them -- see Death Note. So in principle, I disagree, and there has been at least one game where I felt 48 hour days really changed the game dynamic for the better. I also can sympathize with Made's sentiment, since I know many of us here just have super busy lives.
Otherwise, I agree that most players don't take advantage of them, and it's a shame.

Plus, I've seen your amazing mafia skills over at RYM in action, so I'm hoping you'll grace us with them soon.

What motivation would MM have to make this vote as mafia?Roxy wrote:The only thing that pings me for a vote is MM's vote for LC.
He quotes a post and said it reminded him of a rainbow reads list and then said it earned LC his vote![]()
His list had nothing to do with reads and had everything to do with coordinating civvies for a better chance at working together. So my vote is going there later if nothing else occurs to earn my vote.
As civilian?

I have so much to get done! I'll be back closer to EoD, probably a couple of hours before. Sorry for not being around as much as I'd otherwise like to be.

If he is bad then he is trying to paint LC as bad bc LC had come up with a plan for the civs to work together. A baddie hates when civs try to work together.
As a civvie idk bc I do not think he is a civ.
Tbh I felt your questions were odd and easily answered for yourself.
I thought I made it clear in my post why I found his actions shady.

Yeah, well I'm posting now. Don't get your undies in a bunch.Scotty wrote:I feel like those 2 have history and can't make anything of it one way or another. DH didn't really explain it thoroughly either.MovingPictures07 wrote:Alright, game-related question for everyone:
What do folks make of DH's vote for Epi? Does it say anything about alignment for you, however small?
I have to get back to being frisky with my PhD work, so I'll be back at some point, IDK when.
I'm more interested in Roxy.
If she's not voting for me today, I guess there's no limit to how obnoxious I can be. I mean, she won't vote for me, so why worry?
I'd vote for a newcomer in a heartbeat. If they don't post, however insignificant, then they're useless to me. I'll always err on the side of people that have played before and know better, but I wouldn't put it past me to vote, say Mac's Mom or Hamburger Boy (McDonalds isnt paying me enough for this endorsement).
If sig doesn't post in the next day, and if there isn't a resoundingly suspicious read, I'll probably be voting sig. I've at least played with him before.
But we'll see.

The excuses are strong with this one...Spacedaisy wrote:I get that people are bugged by low participation, and fully realize I'm part of that number but honestly, I can't really help it at the moment. But you won't catch me saying "oh noes, I can't catch up!" Because despite not saying much, I am keeping up. I'll issue some thoughts tomorrow after work. I am up much too late and have been working on wedding projects.

Now that leaves sig as the last person that hasn't posted.
Looking at the lowest posters right now. These are the ones that stand out to me right now.
sig- 0
Disgruntled Porcupine- " ;o "
Tiny Bubbles- 2
Mac's mom- 3-
ika- 4
So far, Mac's mom has just barked threateningly thrice.
Disgruntled porcupine is the one that stands out to me. Like, what even is that post. Birdo?
TB and ika- nothing of note, though ika did ask LC about his color scheme. neither have posted in a while
I don't like that sig has posted, and he stands to get my vote today but porcupine is a close 2nd right now with that post.
