Not that roles are necessarily the same team than in the original game, but I doubt the role that is included that is the poll choice is not a mafia role, just because that would give unfair advantage to the team that knew that. Similarly, I'm not sure a mafia role would be included because the mafia would know if it was still a mafia role (or one mafia would know if there is more than one baddie team). Just some thoughts.

The trick to day 1 is... don't read the posts, read the tone. Lorab especially reads tone bad. I can feel the backspaces she wrote as she second guessed her way into a fumbly first post. She bad, def bad.

I don't really care where they come from. I have them too, and I think my day zero, day one gut is right a lot more often than probability should let it be. I agree with tone reading, especially in early game, as being a very successful catching ground for baddies, and I always have. I'm just saying your magical radar is wrong in this game, since you have named two suspects and at least 50% of them are town (specifically, me).

If you go doing what you like to do and be all twisty turny... such as knowing you named me as a suspect, but pretending I must have info on LoRab when I say I know you are wrong... that bothers me. It's manipulative, and reminds me more of your TH play than either Dune or Star Wars.

I picked the character I liked the most, that's why it was so easy.

Also, it has nothing to do with what DH or anyone else picked. I had to check to remind myself who Xander and Finn even were. Plus, I didn't even take in account Duncan's abilities from Dune, because a) I didn't play Dune; b) Dune was closed setup and I didn't thoroughly review the revealed powers afterwards and c) I don't share the point of view that the roles have been imported with precisely the same power, as to judge them by that.

The poll doesn't "seeeeeeem" like a big deal to me, because unlike you, I treat it as a guessing game. I believe you analysed which roles would be "cool enough" to warrant inclusion. For all I know, instead, they could all be added or some/most/just one of them could. To me, the Hosts already were the judges of that. Any benefits from voting either the right option (in case only one of these characters was included) or any option (in case it doesn't really matter) will either be revealed publicly (like the correct role or the role with the most votes that exists being revealed in the roster, for the knowledge of all the players) or won't, in which case it won't matter, since benefit (prize) talks aren't allowed, so we won't be any wiser. Hence, not a big deal.

I find this game scandalous so far. I'm not sure which option to vote on. I don't recall the role in Dune and I doubt it is Xander Crews as they are the people who had their heads blown up in Llama's game. (I think)

Arrrgh there are already three pages. Which is great from an info perspective, bad from a I'm-drinking-Manhattans-and-wasn't-ready-for-this perspective.

But I like this poll. Lots of different interpretations: what roles people liked, which ones they actually think are in the game. Another theory: could this poll actually be determining the role of one player? It could be like a play-in game in the NCAA tournament, as it were. I don't know how closely the roles have been imported, but if they are faithful, that'd seem to hint against Watari, because there were so many role interactions going on in Death Note.

Tranq's slip of calling Finn McMissile mafia (the role was part of a second civ team) is too easily fact-checkable to be intentional, imo.
