Bleach Mafia [FULL GAME]

#1

Post by Ricochet »

*submitting this, only so that I can stop returning to it every three days, even though it's not fully calibrated to mafia, given the sheer amount of canon I transposed into every role

*the abilities written in the spoilers are actually images, because writing everything in code would have actually required multiple posts ayyy

Zaraki’s greatest desire is to fight to the death and be pushed to the limit. As such, every Night in which he sustains at least one injury from non-lethal attack, will increase his Offense and Defense maximums by 5 (maxing out at double the original amount) and improve his recover rate by 5 as well (Zaraki starts out with 0 and has no post coefficiency throughout the game).

Each Night, Zaraki can attack a target with his sword. He can choose between a mild sword slash (Off/Def 5 each, lowering the target’s stats by the same amount), a strong sword slash (10 each, idem), a Kendō enhanced attack (15 each, idem) or a Ryōdan (two-handed Kendō) enhanced attack (30 each, idem). He cannot use a Ryōdan technique on consecutive Nights. His attacks will not affect the targets’ Reiatsu.

Captain of the jūnibantai (12th Division) and 2nd president of the Shinigami Research Institute, a devious madman scientist who desires nothing more than to study the essence of everything... living or dead. Every Night in which he doesn’t use any attack, Mayuri has a 50% chance of uncovering a role’s secrets for his own knowledge. If at any point in the game, Mayuri’s attacks are redirected back at him, it will trigger a self-destruct function, destroying his Zanpakutō without Mayuri suffering any redirect damage. A full cycle must then pass for Mayuri to reconstruct his Zanpakutō and use it again.

Due to his medical issues, each times he uses his powers, it will strain his body and lower his maximum Offense and Defense levels by 10. Design walkthrough
Similar to Naruto Mafia, this game is meant to expand (read: blow up) the traditional design of the game, by incorporating the Stat levels [Health] and Special Ability system. Every traditional ability (check, protect, block, BTSC, etc.) that a role might also have is otherwise written under the role's name and motto.

-- Lynches and night kills will occur as normal during their traditional phases, but certain special abilities can potentially influence, under certain requirements, further deaths within a regular Day/Night cycle.

-- Stat levels are basically a role's health, distributed in his offensive, defensive and Reiatsu (spiritual energy) capabilities. The numbers shown in the table between the role's description and its special abilities spoiler tab are the amount the role starts the game with, as well as (bar certain exceptions) the maximum amount he can recover, throughout the game.

-- The recovery rate row in the Stat levels table will reflect the amount of health that can be replenished at the end of each Day phase. This includes an official amount (written in numbers) and a bonus coefficient, which will be calculated according to each player's activity. Just like in Naruto, this is meant to reward contribution to the game.

-- The bonus coefficient will require each player, during the warm-up stages of the game (say Day 0), to convey to the Host a quota of posts he intends to achieve during a Day phase. The quota cannot be lower than 10 posts per Day phase. The Host will have some liberty to evaluate if the quota suggested by a player is adequate or an underestimate value, by taking in account the player's usual meta on the forum.
-- Depending on the player meeting his quota or not, the bonus coefficient will increase or decrease the recovery rate of the role/player's health, maxing out at double the quota or decreasing the rate, no lower than half the quota. For example, if player X agrees to a quota of 20 posts per Day phase, achieving 40 or more posts during a Day phase will mean a 2.0x coef., whilst achieving only 10 or less posts during a Day phase will mean a 0.5x coef.

-- At the end of each Day or Night phase, the Host will privately announce each player his current Stat levels at the end of that respective phase. Given that the Host's name will be Ricochet, pray that his math proficiency will miraculously increase for the duration of this game.

-- On to the special abilities (everything within spoiler tabs), most of these can be categorised as "Zanpakutō" (sword cutter) and Kidō (spell, magic) based. The former is split into two further categories: Shikai (First release of a Zanpakutō) and Bankai (Final release). The latter (Kidō) is also split into Hadō, offensive spells, and Bakudō, defensive spells. For the four Espada members, their Resurrection works in the same fashion as a Shinigami's Zanpakutō and any other attacks they have are independent.
-- Apart from exceptions mentioned in the design, all special abilities count as Night powers and can only be sent during that phase.
-- Every player can use as many special abilities as he desires, as long as his stat levels can support multiple ability uses. Of course, each player will have to manage his night powers and stat levels wisely. For Shikai and Bankai particular attacks, see below.

-- With two major exceptions (Ichigo and Aizen), every role/player will have to ACTIVATE their Zanpakutō via the Host. Activation will typically require certain stat levels, as written in each Shikai or Bankai activation row. This design detail basically means that almost all the player will start the game as borderline vanilla. It is virtually up to each player how role-maddening they'll allow this game to become. :nicenod: Of course, given that, for instance, Aizen's abilities, not to mention the entire mafia, pose great threat, the rest of the field will have to weigh in on counter-attacking with their own special abilities.
-- Activations of Zanpakutō releases (Shikai or Bankai) will be ANNOUNCED by the Host within the thread (Host posts), in order to unburden a bit the level of behind-the-scene activity.

-- The Shikai release of a Zanpakutō requires just one activation throughout the game, unless the player's stat levels are at any point depleted. Upon sufficient recovery, he can later re-activate his Shikai.
-- The Bankai release requies at least one cycle to pass after a Shikai activation in order to be activated and, apart from exceptions mentioned in the descriptions, cannot be maintained for more than THREE cycles. Additionally, it must recharge for one cycle before it can be re-activated.
-- Apart from exceptions mentioned in the descriptions, if a player's stat levels are depleted whilst in Bankai mode, the Bankai is destroyed and cannot be re-activated for the remainder of the game.

-- Particular Shikai or Bankai attacks are written (with English translation) beneath their respective release row. A Shikai particular attack can only be delivered whilst the player's Zanpakutō is in Shikai Mode. A Bankai particular attack can only be delievered whilst the player's Zanpakutō is in Bankai Mode.

-- Hadō and Bakudō abilities are independent night powers, that can be sent regardless of the state of release of a Zanpakutō. Most of them are stat damaging techniques, anyway, instead of equivalent of mafia Night powers. Any other attack (Visored's Hollow Masks, Espada's Ceros, humans' abilities) also count as independent.

It's 4am and I'm not sure I remember what else I should clarify about this game, so I'll leave it at that for now. Any questions are welcome.

Oh. FYI, every Japanese name (so basically every role except the Espada) is typically family name first.

Also, inb4 Epignosis bleach joke.

10 out of 10 animaniacs would play this game. :nicenod:

I've never watched Bleach though. I've been looking forward to playing a mafia game with an RPG element added to it, if that's what you want to call it.

Oooh, that kind of animu.

But really, I wanted to design ever since MP made Narutu. There's also One Piece, which wiuldn't require nearly as much role fuckery, but has so many characters on the good and bad side, I've no idea how to conceive it.

Also, manga like these shouldn't be watcned, they should be read. The animes are stretched out quality CARP.

As a product of the grunge music era, I initially thought this game would be based around the music of Nirvana. After clicking the link, scrolling and seeing pictures of anime, I sighed and remembered that I'm not that lucky.

Sort of wish this were a site where 30-40 isn't the sky limit, so I wouldn't have had to chop the Espada ranks or lewve some Vice-Captains out of it (not that I'm a fan of any excluded). Sort of forgot Isshin too.

One thing I forgot to mention, for connoisseurs, this game is based strictly on the arcs between Gotei 13 invasion, Hueco Mundo and Karakura Town face-off. Although I took some exception with a few Bankais, like the Captain Commander's.

Well, the full game queue is really massive at this point, so it's entirely possible that by the time you'll be hosting this, you'll have a larger member base to pull from. Here's hoping.

Despite the new wave of players, I don't think we can push the full size roster. A 40+ game could still be allienating for some by default.

Yeah, that's very true, just have to see when the time comes though; you never know! I hosted a 40 player Classic Rock game on The Piano way back when, and I've seen I think a couple of games (including that 50-player LOST game on RM) bigger than that. It depends on what happens between now and then, what time the game lands during, how busy folks are, what the theme is, etc. I had the same issue with my Naruto game though that you had, too many characters, not enough players. It's tough to cut.

That LOST game was amazing. We were winning (The Others :noble: ) when the Host went walkabout & just disappeared. He came back eventually (spoiler: It was Rabbit8), but the game ended by not ending. A fitting tribute to LOST actually, although I did not think so at the time.

And Classic Rock was pretty cool. I was proud of that game, like almost everyone I cursed died, and we only lost one baddie teammate by games end. That was Vomps first game, he was so enigmatic.

That Classic Rock game was really great... especially since it's what first got me talking with Daisy outside of games on a regular basis. :D

You're right, that was Vomps's first game! And if I remember correctly, he was one of the Sex Pistols. Lol. I could almost reboot that game, make just a few tweaks, and rerun it to be honest; it feels like it's been forever.

It is to bad, though with the chance of many more deaths wouldn't that make it more likely that people would join?

The manga hit its stride during those arcs anyway imo, not a big fan of the newest stuff. :P

Spoiler: show
I keep reading it because it's five minutes each Friday. The final arc idea in itself wasn't bad, but since the Deicide chapters, Kubo has done nothing but one asspull after another. Some of the characters benefit from interesting culminations/developments (Yamamoto, Unohana, Rukia, Zero Squad Monk) and I've enjoyed a few fights, but the rest is overlong, overstretched and Tarantino-like in being one two-month-long asspull after another.

Mostly role reduction reasons, but I'll guess we'll see in 2020 how the community shapes up and if there will be an opportunity for a 35+ roster. Her Tobiume wouldn't do much more than some moderate stats damage, in context of this design, and the few Kido she used could maybe have some binding effects, but that's about it.

Also I've never played a Bleach game. Auto-sign me. Look for me in NF if I'm not here at the time. Or MSPA Forums. Stalk me in RL. I don't care, I must play this game.

The second installment (following Naruto) in a potential trilogy of manga-based Mafia games hosted on The Syndicate.
If this is what I think it is then you can auto-sign me too.

Though I'm going to host my own One Piece game in NF this summer. 40 players, closed setup, based on the Dressrosa arc. Don't miss it.

I just referenced Naruto and Bleach so far fitting perfectly into a potential trilogy. MP created the former, I did this one, but have no plans yet to build a One Piece, mostly due to reasons of brain hemorrhage at the thought of conceiving a game after a manga that massive. You should consider projecting the third part yourself, with freedom to come up with something as ballsy (or even more) as these two, if you can only manage the characters cramming.

Summer should be marginally ok for me to resume playing (either that or host Inception), so hit me a PM when you'd be hosting that. Oh, what is NF? NarutoForums?

Naruto Forums.

I find it easier to think about this manga with separate arcs. Some guy there hosted a Marineford game two years ago. Now I'm taking the Dressrosa Arc. I could make another one with Enies Lobby, for example. There are always a bunch of supporting characters to make the civs, and a villain group.

Actually you know what, I'm making an Enies Lobby game in 2017.

Also, Dressrosa was a step back on track, prolly since the Marineford War - probably because I am a complete faggot for Trafalgar Law (and I goddamn want that role if I'll sign up), but I can't help feeling Luffy's power skills are, from a creative standpoint, strangely depleted. "Pledge fight against big boss who rules domain -> progress -> lose some -> get back up -> reveal new technique or gear up -> serious face final fight -> punch big boss in the nose -> kanpai with all the new supporting characters whose hearts you've won over! Repeat."
