Tennis
So I know this thread will only be Rico and I talking back and forth, but I don't care. Tennis fans, unite!
How about that Djokovic performance in the Australian Open? The man is officially beyond machine at this point. I'm predicting he'll have a solid chance at the Calendar Grand Slam this year, especially with no revival from Nadal, Federer's recent knee injury, Murray's inability to actually ever beat him, and all of the others' inability to break the "Big 4" barrier. Thoughts?

Other than attending a US Open semi-final with my wife and her parents back when we were just dating, the only times I watched tennis were..

Don't we already have a thread for this sport, the best of them all, though?

Federer finally had surgery? Never thought I'd see the day. Unless they've all been secret before.

Re: Tennis
I started off the match opening a beer and toasting it to the realization that another Fedal, despite all odds, is happening and whatever unfolds, it's a joyous occasion. I mean, one dude with 17 Slams was competiting against one with 14, after all, right?
Of course, I ended up being real sad, because I take this sport too seriously. Four sets would have easier to cope with, but that fifth set offered too much to hope for.

Re: Tennis
It was a great match for sure, and the very fact that it was another Fedal is just outstanding. Curious what the rest of '17 will offer.Ricochet wrote:I started off the match opening a beer and toasting it to the realization that another Fedal, despite all odds, is happening and whatever unfolds, it's a joyous occasion. *sigh*
Might as well warm up that congratulatory FB post for Sunday, Alex. At this point, I don't see the rest of the tournament leading to another outcome. It's still kinda crazy for me how it takes two Big 4 players' form to dip (oh, and there's Nadal failing eternally on this surface) for everything to revert back to "fedwinslol". As for the runner-up spot, I guess the chance of a lifetime is Querrey's more than Cilic's (he's been labeled more as a dark horse), but I'm sure they'll both just face a brick wall in the final, anyway.

Nah, tight 2nd set, but 3 sets.
Only thing left for me to decide now is whether I'll have zero drinks as to not celebrate any of this or every drink in the house as to anesthethize myself.

Re: Tennis
Yay for Venus making the finals. Always overshadowed by Serena.

Sometimes it will naturally come out, but it can be contained if we just remember that this is a game on a message board forum that 99.99% of the population of the Earth has never heard of before. No matter how successful anyone is, it means just about nothing.

Re: Tennis
The Croat caved after just one missed break point chance. One. By the second set, he was crying during changeovers. There wasn't even a case of Federer resilience or something - his opponent woke up today and couldn't lift a backhand past the net.
And this earns him #19 and #8.
