You should move to Washington, DC, Golden. We never have earthquakes except that one time.

Thanks for the update! Hoping for a swift return to normalcy. And good point about the timing.Golden wrote:A quick update on all things earthquake.
I've ended up 'off work' all week, which is really code for 'working from home'. My building is safe but clearly some of its pipes ruptured, and we have no idea what the damage is or where in the building. We have what they are calling a 'staged reoccupation' from Monday.
They've just announced a building a block from my work building is going to have to be demolished. It's possible it won't be the last.
We are very lucky that this quake wasn't closer to Wellington at this size, in many ways. We are also lucky it happened at midnight on a sunday. We would likely have had fatalities in the city if it had come during the day, given the extent of damage.

I collect antique poison bottles and listen to industrial music that frequently features screams and other horrible noises, and I have a large library of books on the occult. Pretty sure I'm creepy.

I'm guilty of not looking people in the eye much when talking to them. I am also guilty of being a people watcher. I guess that makes me a little creepy.
But seriously, how is being older a creepy factor? That's not something you can control. I think old people who try to look and dress younger than their age are a little creepy but not old people in general. Maybe they just mean being older in relation to the person being engaged?

Yeah I didn't get the thing about older people being creepy either. Maybe an older person who lives in the creepiest house in the neighborhood but not just an old person in general.

HAHAHA, yes, he is right. We will move in one day. I will have everything unpacked that same day. The only thing I MIGHT leave to the next day is putting together the bunk beds, but that's only because I need help with that and Epi will probably be too wore out to help with it. But I bet I won't even sleep until all the pictures are hanging on the walls. It's just who I am. I like order. I'll be putting the Christmas tree up too

Well, we don't have a whole lot of stuff either. I don't like clutter, so I try to keep our belongings to a minimum and quite organized. The thing with that is, we use just about everything we have on a regular basis. The things we have that we don't use (like photo albums, Christmas decorations, etc) are already stored in big plastic bins. So they will just move as is. There isn't much I can even pack until a few days before we move. So when I am not working/schooling, I feel like I am just sitting here waiting to pack.

I still prefer beer and (red) wine, though tbh I'm not sure which of the two that I prefer.

We need a beverage mafia (oh wait, I already have a craft beer mafia).

Re: Random~
While my dad gave me a few inquiring sips of beer when I was a kid (back then I liked the smell but not the taste), just about all of my firsts with alcohol came in college.
The first full alcoholic drink I ever consumed was a bottle of Smirnoff Triple Black.
My first experience with whiskey was at a cast party. Someone gave me a scotch glass half full of Jack Daniels. Not knowing any better, I sipped it slowly over the course of an hour. I liked the slow burn down the throat and the warm feeling in my stomach. One of my friends, who didn't know I hadn't drank much of anything before, questioned me about it. Apparently the only people he had ever known to sip whiskey slowly were alcoholics.
I haven't had any in years, but I used to love Gentleman Jack. Nice and smooth all the way down.
