Why is there a difference between what my post profile says my post count is and the count given when I click on the "Show Your Posts" link on the UCP?

I assume that has to do with deleted and hidden threads. With the latter, your post would still count but but be able to be searched for.

Again, that's just an assumption.

It's hidden only. Deleting would remove it from your post count.

Hidden forums would include: Admin/mod, ambassador, Gladiators, Smashfest, hosting forums, anything that isn't publicly searchable.

I put them in the spoiler tag immediately after making that post and no one noticed until now.

Too many moving banners recently, I just turned sig's off. Pages were taking too long to load in my phone plus it's harder to hide goofing off at work with some of those giant sig's. You can see from across the room that it isn't work related. Plus for people who spoilers them, I kept opening the tags like they were game relevant and I was starting to feel Rick rolled a bit.

The post count number below your avatar is inclusive of all hidden posts. Only deleted posts will decrease your post count because they are removed from the SQL database completely. So your post count beneath your avatar and in your profile is the true number.

If that number is more than the number you get when you hit "View: All", that means you've made posts in hidden forums that you currently don't have access to. So, for example, mine differs because I made posts in Gladiators, Smashfest, and some hosting forums that I currently cannot access.

This also means that if I click "View: All" for my own posts, it's very likely that I will be able to see more than someone not on the admin team, because I can see all of my admin posts there but they won't be able to.

Additionally, some forums can have their settings changed to not contribute to your post count when posting there.

This has been done in mafia games with secret threads, so as to not have a player's post count skyrocket while they appear to be not contributing. Recruitment Mafia was the only game I think we used this feature though.
