Re: Chicka Chicka 1, 2, 3
Since the cat is out of the bag, I'll re-post this here:
"Let's hook those cables up a little faster, PFC Kaplan!" shouted Sergeant Major Darren Sharp. "We promised the General that we were ready to roll. Let's make sure we keep that promise."
"Yes sir!" responded a young soldier. Thick cable were slung around his shoulder as he worked to prepare the simulation chamber.
"Dammit Johnson, would you turn that crap down?" Sharp yelled.
"Rush is hardly crap and Moving Pictures happens to be one of their best albums," Sergeant Major Matthew Johnson replied.
"Yeah, well, I can only take so much of that guy's voice," Sharp grumbled.
"And I can only take so much of that cheese you love to eat. God, it stinks like ammonia. What is it?"
"Brie. Good stuff. If you were a little more cultured, you might be able to get past the smell."
"Cultured?" laughed Johnson. "This from the guy who has no appreciation for progressive rock."
"Tell you what," Sharp snickered, "I'll give up the brie if you give up the music. I can only listen to "Tom Sawyer" so many times, man."
"Deal," Johnson shot back, switching off the stereo.
"Here buddy," Sharp said as he threw his cheese at a large, black saucer in the middle of the room. It disappeared with a faint sizzle.
"I don't get it," PFC Kaplan said. "If this thing can make the whole simulation work on its own, then why do we need to make it look like something out of the Matrix? All these cables and plugs are just a set dressing."
"It's psychological," Sharp replied. "Throwing too much hard-to-process information at people all at once disorients them and that won't provide us with the results we're looking for."
"I don't get that either," Kapaln said. "If the General has invited the best of the best, isn't that enough? Why go through with all this? I didn't have to go through a simulation when I was recruited."
"We didn't have this guy around when you were recruited," Johnson said, pointing at the saucer. "Maybe if we'd have been able to screen you, James Justis would be alive and in our custody. You're lucky you were just demoted, Kaplan. Besides, it's a numbers game. Always recruit more than you need because the herd always gets thinned out."
"WHAT HE'S TRYING TO SAY, MY DEAR HUMAN ASSISTANT," came a sinister voice from everywhere and nowhere at the same time, "IS THAT EAGLE TALON'S OPERATION IS SMALL BUT THERE'S A LOT OF POTENTIAL FOR AGGRESSIVE EXPANSION. THERE'S ONLY A FEW SPOTS OPEN RIGHT NOW, SO WE'RE GONNA HAVE... TRYOUTS. HA-HA! HA! HA!"

It looks like polls might be reading in order of vote again, as an aside.

I will send out roles throughout the day. Day 0 will begin sometime between 9:30 and 10:00 pm tonight. Day 0 will run for 48 hours to allow everyone to get their roles and ask me any questions. That will also give folks time to strategize in the team chats.
