Re: Mafia: A World Asunder - GAME THREAD [Night 0]
Just some preliminary thoughts:
With a 30 player game things are bound to move fast and get very crowded. I'll try to keep a critical eye but we'll see.
Since this an LC/BR map game, most of the game hasn't even been revealed yet and will be played behind closed doors. Don't take anything off the table ever.
I'm excited to see what's up. Glad we get a N0.

These poll options seem quite meaningless.
Are people voting randomly or what?

Nah, that’s only for games where I manually count votes.colonialbob wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 10:56 am Ok so if I remember how to do all this correctly we all post memes and then spend the last 5 minutes frantically switching our poll votes as many times as possible
Is that correct?

Btw, all those roles are super serious and should mostly chill out. Amber Wine or whatever is pretty hot.

I know I’d be able to figure this out by looking at this post and the map but can you tell me if we can move diagonally? And do you have to go the full range or can you go less?Long Con wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 11:30 amAre there roles that say that?Dragon D. Luffy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 10:32 am Heya.
So how does movement work? I trtied to find something in the rules saying how many squares we can normally move but I didn't.
I'm assuming it's too squares per night since some roles say allowed to move 3.
Default movement range is three squares. Some roles, such as Lycantha, have a different movement range, and it is generally noted in the role.
This means that an average player on, say, B6, has the option to move to A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B9, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8, D5, D6, D7, or E6.
Players will start with a movement. Please PM your movement by the end of Night 0 so you can begin Day 1 on a new square.
Also, today is very busy for us, so I will not be back here to post, except very briefly, until later tonight. Night 0 is going to be flexibly timed as we ease into this complicated game.

As someone who has played several LC/BR games I don't know if I believe that you believe that anything in the game is meaningless.

"Each Chosen Option Enhanced" and "Will you Become More" sound similar like maybe powers or results will be enhanced?
I am voting for Honorable Tribunal, maybe that means only civvie votes count or something like that, I like the sounds of it. The rest of them, no clue, really.
[VOTE: Honorable Tribunal] aubergine
linki @TH I don't remember that Tribunal, but still a good reason to pick it.

Re: Mafia: A World Asunder - GAME THREAD [Night 0]
I feel like the options probably do mean something in regard to how the game will move forward as people are saying. Like will you become more could mean getting something that helps you another power or something. I can see why people would vote that if it is in fact what that means. Someone had mentioned honorable tribunal sounds like it may be something to help civilians get one of the baddies. Each chosen option enhanced extra votes maybe? Not sure about the rest and could be totally wrong but just some thoughts thus far.

What's up, Syndicats. I will be your facilitator/moderator on duty for this game. It looks like another great bit of Mafia artistry from Black Rock and Long Con and I look forward to seeing it play out. If at any point you are feeling frustrated with events in the game thread, in BTSC, any other players or the hosts, or even generally around the website, I encourage you to send me a message. I'm happy to listen and if necessary help to work out any troubles. Everyone have a good time!

Wait a minute, I remember a game where I was part of a 3 civ group with BTSC that was a LC/BR game - was that World Apart? I can't remember mafia games years after I've played them at all. Anyway, I agree this sounds like a pro-town option so that's where I'm voting.Turnip Head wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 2:39 pmThe Tribunal of Judgment is from A World Apart, it was three civvies with BTSC plus a lynch switch and pardon. Okay, so no PMs can be reproduced in thread. But does that mean we can roleclaim and infodump in both the thread and in BTSC as long as we don't copy/paste or screenshot host PMs?

I already said this in signups and everywhere else on this site, but my semester ends on the 10th (Monday). I’m fairly busy until then, so I won’t be super active off the bat in this game. Outside of some travel days after that, I have loads of free time.

"The appearance of being true or real". Hmm idk about that sounds deceptive in a way as it says the appearance of rather than just being. Unless its revealing something deceptive?
Not sure but I think I'm going to go with the honourable Tribune. If it means what has been discussed thus far it sounds like it could be helpful.

I didn't need to Google it

That would have been my second choice, but "Honourable Tribunal" sounds like a civ thing, and in a prior game it was apparently a BTS civ group, so

I have got a ridiculous weekend, I am getting a new dog, and I had a death in the family (no one too close, but close enough that I am expected to go to both nights of the wake) AND I have a baby shower so I may be quietish for a few days, but should be fully present Monday.

I don't know that it really matters here since we don't know what any of these things do, but I would assume they are all beneficial in different ways to each person voting.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 6:37 pm Somebody talk to me about times nonsensical looking poll options helped or harmed your faction.

They could benefit factions, or individuals. When I used to host, I generally had a mix of that and prize options. Like the first person to vote for option x was taken off the poll. At this point it's really just speculation. but in time the discussion may have meaning in retrospect when we find out what night polls do, if anything. With these hosts they probably do something, but hard to say what with no results yet.Lunalee wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 6:51 pmI don't know that it really matters here since we don't know what any of these things do, but I would assume they are all beneficial in different ways to each person voting.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 6:37 pm Somebody talk to me about times nonsensical looking poll options helped or harmed your faction.

You can put your finger down. I have no knowledge of the poll options or what they do. But based on prior Long Rock games, I think that one sounds townie-est
