Leniency for low-posting/soft-posting is in short supply this game. The numbers do not provide us with a helpful margin of error.

Sabie eluded me in A World Asunder and she does now too. She’s new to me and her soft spoken style makes her hard to read. Of her nine posts, four are Day 0 fluff and two are Day 1 fluff. That leaves her with three posts to chew one.

One is asking sprityo a question that maybe I need the context to understand better. She offers thoughts on five or six players at the most, much of her comments sound a little on-the-fence. Between her last two posts, she arrives at some soft curiosity of reywaS. We’ll see if and how that builds from here.

Until she starts taking some firmer stances, she’s neutral. Time is short though, and as I said- leniency is (or should be) in short supply.

They didn't vote Eloh with you. They voted, and you saved your butt and tried to make it sound like you had a plan to get some extra mileage out of it. Baloney ice cream.

It was Day 1. I don't fault people for making the crappy votes they did. When I see a spurious reason for that vote, that's when I get going.
What plan did I have?
Mafia don't require a plan. Lynching a civilian and moving on to the next phase is the plan.

Hey new guys:

Vote for people. Civilians lose if civilians don't vote.
no one was scummy
there was no content to judge
Serious question: Where you normally are involved in Mafia, do civilians win much?

Some of these are fair questions that I don't object to. This also is not a comprehensive list, as I left out some posts that were just continuations of conversations started in other posts on the list. The point I am trying to make, which I've been trying to make for a little while now, is that Epi's general tone in this game is antagonistic. I don't view him as being constructive with his questions or his input. I think this type of content serves to inflame the thread and keep the civilians from forming a cohesive and productive atmosphere. I think Epi is doing this intentionally. I think that's how he would play in a game like this when he's bad. I don't think it's how he would play in a game like this when he'd good. By "a game like this", I mean one that is relatively quiet, lacking on content or power roles, in which the town's success will depend on its ability to work together and eliminate the small team of baddies using nothing but in-thread evidence. By keeping the thread unstable, he makes it that much more difficult for us to do those things.

Lucky for you, literally nothing has happened yet.
I cannot "destabilize" thread activity that doesn't exist. I don't even know what that means.

My arguments regarding language did not distract anybody. I don't have that ability. People are in control of what they want to pay attention to. I also don't have any power to prevent people from voting, and yesterday had four (!) missing votes. People can post what they want. People can ignore me if they want. People can vote where they want.

I didn't do anything to this thread but give it life. :noble:

G-Man wrote: Sat Jan 12, 2019 4:26 pm Lynching Nutella tomorrow is still on the table for me. Her ISO paints a better picture than some of her individual posts. I’ll let that soak for the rest of the day and see what else happens. Here’s what sits ill with me:

-She overreacted to my literal/not-a-good-look post at Sloonei in a big way. Had she claimed her vote on me was a form of reaction fishing, I might have believed her. Rather, she seemed to go all in, as if she sensed opportunity.

-Asking for the stats on sprityo being bad based on self-voting is also opportunistic. It provides and easy way in or out of working a sprityo train into the mix. It’s not original thought. That kind of data is arbitrary anyway. Nothing ever came of it but it still smells of opportunism.

-After Jay voted for Eloh, Nutella echoed his poor reasonings, thereby generating what appears to be justification for a later Eloh vote.

-Sure enough, Nutella goes back to the low-hanging fruit and votes for Eloh. A sloppy vote built on a foundation of sand.

-She even says she is often wrong about Eloh, preemptively excusing her role in a mislynch.
You're making all kinds of wrong assumptions here. I didn't overreact. I called out your bullshit, and when you revealed it was fishing I still found it unhelpful and sketchy. I think you were the one being opportunistic there. That said, based on your later play I think you are town, but I did not like that initial look.

I asked about sprityo because I never understand his meta and I know he gets mislynched for weird reasons a lot. I didn't put much stake into it either way so I don't see how it can be called opportunistic.

As for eloh, I honestly didn't have better reasons to vote for anyone else and her two posts looked bad to me. If it was "sloppy" that's because there was no other suspicious content to go on and of course I wasn't super confident in it but I had nothing better.

the untrustworthy v. trustworthy argument
could you pull it up for us to see? and also, if you don't mind, tell us why you think it's trustworthy.

playing mafia like me is being bombarded with homework assignments sometimes. i apologize.
oh and i completely missed the last part

i feel mafia would choose to just step down from whatever argument theyre in rather than push thru it
see (my nutella read)
Epignosis is definitely not the type to play a soft or passive scum game. He's a very crafty baddie. He'd stick to his guns.
for whatever that's worth. I'm not saying you need to read him as scum, just that I wouldn't plant a town read on him specifically for that reason.
im perfectly fine reading people on my own
but ill take that into consideration

i just finished a game where i pinned 2/3 scum
but no, they all suck, theres been only 5 good villagers to come from the site
G-Man wrote: Sat Jan 12, 2019 3:30 pm Lots of culture clash and a sprinkling of excuses through the first half of MafiaMenace’s ISO. Then he gets hung up on the semantics of trustworthiness. His big-dog attitude reminds me of the aggressive nature that others came to this site with when wandering into our bohemian culture from site’s more akin to players strutting around like young bucks. The more he produces game-relevant content, the better I’ll get a feel for him. For now though his ISO leaves him as a tough egg to crack.
i used that argument as a way to push out readable content from anyone willing to bite
as well as set my eye on players who could be suspicious

and it worked perfectly

i did say that i play very aggressively
so theres nothing new there

Liar, liar, pants on fire.

Other than that, Sloonei reads only slightly below what I remember as his average style of play. Day 0 was. Was your vote for sprityo a genuine a-ha vote out of the gate or was it a get-back-in-here-mister kind of thing? He circled back later, suggesting sprityo was the only player who had done anything worth discussing. Could be opportunistic or it could be a result of his definitions for the game. He leans more toward treating mafia as a science than I think I do.

He lurked and saved his own skin. Why? What made Eloh look worse and more deserving of death than Jay? He also had two votes at the time. He tried to back into a justification later but I’d like him to read both of them again and explain why Eloh and why not Jay.

His Night 1 has left a sour taste in my mouth. He was a little condescending and he generated a fair amount of white noise by clashing with Epi like they sometimes do.

Leave your Jump To Conclusions mat in storage. There’s plenty of fresh meat to consider. I’ve been around the block enough times to know about the success rate of policy lynches.

What I mean is, at what point do think her absence becomes a detriment to our cause? This is a numbers game and the numbers are small from the start in Heists.

I didn't realize you considered it a "case" but I can see where you are coming from. Though I don't really think of Epi as one to heavily drive discussion even in small games like this. do you have a counterexample?

Lurching my statement way out of context much? I wasn’t talking about being closed-minded. I was saying that, if people don’t produce sufficient content for me to generate a read on, then I’m going to force a read out of what little they produce and I won’t care if they don’t like where that leads. Big difference.
