Syndicate Meet Up Part II (USA)

Hello lovely people of The Syndicate! There has been some chatter about interest in reviving this finally after the long saga that has been COVID is finally easing up and allowing people to travel and see each other again. So this is really a thread to do an interest check and then move into discussion of time frames and locations. Before we get too far down that road though, let's just see who might be interested in attending a Syndicate Meet Up!

I can travel a few hours but most things that would require going further than that aren't really an option atp

But if it's within striking distance I would love to be a part of it

A long ways...I think 650ish miles, iirc, to Knoxville at least. Further to central and western Tennessee.

Not something I say often, but glad I live in Florida

If this is going to be a thing (which I fully endorse the idea of feeling out the possibility for a Euro Meet Up), we should consider starting a separate thread to pursue interest and planning for that.

I should clarify, I am planning a LOT of things right now and I don't think I could handle planning that too, but if you all are serious about a Euro Meet Up and someone wants to plan that, let's start a separate thread and see what comes of it.

@Elohcin or Epignosis, we were discussing it being mid-August but I learned from Elo earlier that might not work for you?

Here is where I (and Dunia are at the moment. I am going to England in early May, then going from England straight to permanently relocating to France in June. So I won't be in the US at all as of May. However, my little sister graduates with her PhD in History August 13, so I am going to be back in Waco for that ceremony and I convinced Dunia to join me for this and we could plan a Syndicate meet up around it as well. I am able to do it anytime before or after the 13. The closer to it the better so Dunia could do both, but if she can only make one of the two things, I will make sure she is at the Meet Up instead, lol. We hadn't gotten as far in here as discussing dates before this, but do you have any idea of when might be a no go?

Anyone else that would like to chime in dates that are just no go for them, please let us know. We'll go for whatever works for the most people in the end.

We only live about four hours away. Also I lived in Tampa Bay for years and years.

I’m definitely willing to teach another yoga class if the group would like (like at the last meetup)

I might be able to make Chicago with enough time between now and then. Otherwise it would have to be somewhere on the west coast or joining via Video call.

Florida would be relatively unlikely for a multitude of reasons.

Hey guys, dunya and I were discussing it and we think that planning not for this summer, but for next summer might be a better idea. It would allow for people who want to make time for it to sort it out well in advance, and it would allow people to save for it too. So we're going to refocus this a bit to look forward at the Summer of 2023 and allow plenty of time for planning that way.

That said, I will put up a poll for possible locations as soon as possible.

If it’s next summer there is more of a chance I might be visiting the states when it happens! and some of the locations are actually locations I was thinking about visiting family/friends there.

Hey, that's awesome news! I mean, I know its a bummer pushing it back a whole year, but I really think having that extra time to plan will allow more people to make some space for it and to budget time and money for it if it's something they really would like to do. And it will help us ensure we plan it the best possible way we can. I am currently in such flux especially for the next couple months and it's causing me high levels of anxiety so I need to be honest with myself about what I'm capable of doing and I just know that while I might be able to plan it, it probably is not a good choice for me where my mental and emotional health is concerned. So I apologize for getting you all excited too soon and then pulling the rug out from under you. But we can still do it, just planning a bit more in advance, which I think will be a better approach for almost everyone.

Next summer I will be closer to Florida than Chicago, so I move my vote off Chicago and to wherever y'all said in Florida.
