Turnip, how did you go from this...
...to this?Turnip Head wrote:I suppose these are the same reasons I think aether is town, haha.Dragon D. Going for "the most informative lynch" sounds like a good way to lose the game. And it all seems to be based entirely upon Bass's Day 3 vote, which is a move I think baddie-Bass always makes tbh; maybe how it would make aether look did not even factor into his thought process at the time, maybe it did. If I let you guys convince me to lynch Aether (because her lynch is most informative) and she flips town, next you'll be convincing me we can't lynch Bass because of aether's flip, and I think that's the wrong mindset. It doesn't feel like a productive way to make decisions.

Like I said, I reread her from Day 0, something I had not done before. I tried to read with both lenses on, aether writing posts as a civ and aether writing as a baddie, and I think the case on her being bad, especially her conscientiousness of how a Bass flip will make her look, is pretty compelling.
I'll of course elaborate if I make it through the night.

Yes I did. Not much to disagree with, I think. She has been looking scummy since the game started.
Similar points could be made about G-Man. He also spent the last phase on the fence about bass and aether.
Something tells me a lot of aether's "not giving a shit" attitude is legit, though.

Night 5 - Comparative Advantage
With a third anti-capitalist fool gone, the group felt that they could soon come to a consensus on a plan for the future and get back out into the world. They all made feverish preparations for end-game: some back-patting and final strategy meetings were had, there was nearly a run on Logan's Patented Single-Use Disposable Kevlar Vests, and even Russti pushed up his lecture schedule to make sure everyone understood the basic concepts of economics before they left. (But of course they did, being the most brilliant minds the world has seen!)
Turnip Head wanted out as badly as anyone, of course. He worked all Night trying to save up for a vest, thinking that soon he might get to see his tuber-topped family again. He worked so feverishly, in fact, that as he hustled down to the market where other players exchanged their guns and butter for currency, the sun was just coming over the horizon. He slid into the room, heels squeaking on marble floors, only to see that the sign had been taken down. He cast about, and saw the back of the nocturnal shopkeeper headed toward his bed, a long way off down the hall.
"Wait! Stop! I need a vest! I'll pay anything!" he cried, but the elderly keeper was slightly deaf and didn't him.He took off in pursuit, still shouting, and his cries got some attention - just not the kind he had hoped for. Solow, up ahead, saw the shopkeeper toddle by, and tucked himself quickly into an alcove. When Turnip Head ran past, Solow simply stood up and shot him in the back. TH fell with a gurgle and a thump, and that was that. His body was found that morning, and the group vowed to avenge his death.
Turnip Head has been killed by Robert Solow.
Continued high production has led to another boom!
It is now Day 6. You have 48 hours to lynch someone.

At this point though, I think it's almost mandatory that we don't let neither aether NOR G-Man live to the end of the game. Scratch what I said about Vomps, those two should be the priority targets. There's just way too much evidence on both of them to ignore.

To all who are confident that I'm the last one remaining: why would Bass implicate me so badly if this is the case?
Also if I were mafia JJJ would be long dead. I have known his ability for a very long time, and so has sanmateo. This almost makes me sure that the remaining mafia member is not someone from RYM.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 6]
I would certainly give up at this point if I'm mafia, but I'm not. If town is narrow-minded and set on lynching myself and G-Man in some order, and decide that it's better if I go first, I suggest you look at sanmateo, Golden 2.0, Vompatti, perhaps even JJJ should the G-Man plan not go well.
Feel good about but don't assume they're confirmed town by any means:

There highly likely be mafia among this pile:
Vompatti
Golden 2.0
sanmateo
G-Man

Regarding me being alive:
A single RYMer on the mafia team wouldn't necessarily mean i'd be dead. Earlier in the game that request could be overruled by other mafia members. Later in the game i would likely be perceived as less of a threat than Turnip or MP. Even when i had the same reads as them people weren't really following my lead. And for all we know my murder could have been attempted at some point. Shrug.

How do you know that sanmateo knows his role? I have said multiple times that Bass was really, really clever to have broken a tie between Black Rock and me to vote the former, who flipped mafia. Now the rest of town believes that it only makes sense if both BR and I were mafia, but I know full well that he voted BR instead of me knowing that it would implicate me HARD later on. Do you think he would really implicate me that way if I were his teammate? Wouldn't he have tried to protect me afterwards, instead of calling me a town read earlier in the game, then shading me later, when the mafia team isn't as strong?
Should you look at me from the perspective that I'm town, I reckon most of you would agree that I'd be an easy target for mafia to manipulate town into lynching.
Also, TH was set to lynch G-Man instead of me, only voicing me as a backup plan. I'd be really, really, really REALLY ignorant to NK him over JJJ who's sure I'm mafia.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 6]
I think you are stretching if you want to evaluate mafia's NKs based on who their targets were suspecting. That's WIFOM trap. Just like mafia could have killed X because they were suspecting Y, they could have killed Z to avoid implicating Y. It's pointless to attempt to read that.
In my view, mafia has been consistent in killing people who were being perceived as town by others, and thus being unlikely to be lynched. As well as killing people who were being very productive in the game in general. Turnip was the towniest player in the last few phases imo, so that's why he died.
(ofc Bubbles is kind of an exception to that, but then the cop hunt theory can explain it).

As for the "JJJ being good" thing, as much as that may hold true, a smart player would know he isn't the only good player here, and that what really matters is who is being more dangerous in this particular game. Jay could have died earlier, but the ones mafia chose to kill weren't bad choices.

By "ability", I mean skill level. I meant his mafia ability is good. I do not know his role.fingersplints wrote:That's not what you said here:acrosstheaether wrote:We don't know JJJ's role. We know that he's good at mafia.
acrosstheaether wrote:To all who are confident that I'm the last one remaining: why would Bass implicate me so badly if this is the case?
Also if I were mafia JJJ would be long dead. I have known his ability for a very long time, and so has sanmateo. This almost makes me sure that the remaining mafia member is not someone from RYM.

Tell me, where are you going to look afterwards if you do lynch me today? 'Cause you're going to need to do that.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 6]
Just did a reread on aether's posts.
Turnip is right. She is so scummy it hurts. Even more than G-Man I'd say.
There's still a part of me who thinks there's something legit about her, but it could be just her meta. At this point, I'm inclined to vote her.
G-Man is next if she flips town, though.

If town is narrow-minded and set on lynching myself and G-Man in some order, and decide that it's better if I go first, I suggest you look at sanmateo, Golden 2.0, Vompatti, perhaps even JJJ should the G-Man plan not go well.

Not necessarily, since there was a case against me, and others were on it too. What if Bass voted for me instead of BR and I flipped mafia? Would that still have made Bass look bad?G-Man wrote:Spoiler: show

The mafia team seemed to be annoyed by the fact that we didn't give him a chance to defend. While we did all vote early, I disagree that he didn't have a chance (a lot of this has been discussed for a while)Bass_the_Clever wrote:Look I been defending myself all game. I glad everyone decided to vote for me with out giving me a chance to defened myself. So now you guys will be lossing a civ.
I was a little confused by sanmateo's posts at the time (before bass even flipped). "After being told to do so" - who told you you had to vote bass?

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 6]
Seriously G, why would you even bring that up if you think/want to convince others I'm mafia? If you are entertaining the notion that Black Rock and I were teammates, whoever was lynched that day wouldn't matter to how Bass appears (which his vote was instrumental in). Yet here you are contradicting yourself.
If there's no majority today I'm probably going to modkill myself. I don't want town to waste time on me. If I'm such a big hurdle then I just want you all to hurry up and get on with it.
